August 2009: Our New Great White Shark Arrives 

one of the most depressing things i've ever seen

My theory for the reason its hard to keep them is because of their natural instincts. they go all over the world and cannot in a tank. thats the problem

I'm sorry that such a wonderful creature is being kept in a tank but it's going to be temporarily and, above all, I agree that's very important to help the great public respect and possibly love the most missunderstood and feared creature on earth. I think the real dangers for sharks are not the tanks of aquiariums but the ferocius cruelty of human beings out there in the wild. Unfortunately I live on the other side of the world otherwise I'd rush to admire this new baby.

I remember the day monterey bay aquarium brought in the Great White shark. Since then i have always loved sharks and especially the Great white shark.

It's basically wrong to keep these animals in captivity. Too oppressive .

Such precise plans/conditions that must be in place to capture and successfully relocate just one of the LORD's marvelous creatures.The oceans provide exactly what each perfectly designed("adapted")organism needs.Humans must carefully study what God put in place long ago.Close duplication of natural systems is so necessary. I marvel at how so many scientists continue to disbelieve in the LORD when His works are so evident all around them.They,of all people,should be devout and humble.

They are fish! They are not mammals like whales and dolphins. Not a big deal to have a shark in a giant fish tank.

Ugh, I came over from Ireland to the Monterey Bay Aquarium in April 2009, and looks like I just missed her.

@Pineapplegirl25 at that size a great white is harmless, they are alot less aggressive than tiger or bull sharks so getting in a tank with a young baby is pretty safe at that size

I just missed this when I went out to California to visit my former fiancee, now wife. They put her back out in the ocean a month prior to me getting there. :( I really wanted to see her. Great Whites are my most favorite misunderstood shark. Keep up the good work there guys!

@WazamRiteUpDaGiggity You can't. They released the shark to the ocean years ago. She grew too big & powerful.

It was so tiny. About the size a springer spaniel.
