Hi everyone. Susie here. You can definitely tell summer is here by all of the cicadas. The temps have cooled down just a little bit, so I can do a little more gardening than what I have been doing. Still could use some rain, but most my plants are still looking good. Hope you enjoy!

18:12 I got the same new ajuga! Fancy feathers. I bought one 4 inch pot, and when it arrived I divided it into 48 (not exaggerating) plants which now filled their 4 inch pots. It spread quickly.

You have a beautiful garden and as gardeners we all know how tough it can be, especially in August. Hard work under that huge tree (oak?) to get the shade garden to thrive since the large trees suck up all the water and nutrients. If I may, I think you need to be more positive about your garden and the lilt and excitement really would make a huge difference. I’m sure that you are a positive happy person and my comments are no reflection of you as a person at all. All I see in your hot, August garden is beauty!

I never thought of starting Heuchera from seed, have you started Hellebores from seed as well? I have a shady area and would like to plant those two plus hostas but don't want to pay $5-10 per plant at the nursery (it's $9.99 for one Hellebore.) Who did you order the seeds from? I think I should plant some things, it's said Gardening helps to get dopamine moving & relieve depression, meds aren't doing it for me. Plus I'll get to have pretty things to look at, like you do. I don't think I have ever seen shade gardens so large and lush as yours and with Butterflys, Absolutely Beautiful! :- ) Thanks Susie

I haven't started hellebores from seed. They are costly plants. I get my perennial seeds from outsidepride.com and swallowtailgardenseeds.com. A day in my garden always makes me feel better along with some good music. Thanks for watching

Is turtle head supposed to spread? Ive had a little clump for 4 years and never gets any bigger.. i have it in full shade? Everything looks good! 😊
@floralnhardy7332
@floralnhardy7332 3 года назад
My turtle head back by the bench gets part sun and is usually pretty moist soil and has been there for at least 10 years. Those have spread immensely. The clump I have with the snow on the mountain has not done a lot of spreading. That one is in more shade and in much drier soil. Plus, it is under one of my big trees. Thanks for watching

How would you say the Bobo hydrangeas are for water needs? I have a line of hydrangeas along the side of our house that tends to get neglected a little for watering. The plants are an older mop head variety and just look tragic after a day or two without water. Wondering if Bobo might be a little more forgiving as a panicle? We live in the PNW so fairly mild but our summers can get into the 90a here and there. I'd love a hydrangea that doesn't instantly droop sadly if I miss a couple days of watering.
@judymckerrow6720
@judymckerrow6720 3 года назад
I believe all hydrangea need quite a bit of water. Mine droop when they NEED water💚🙃
@floralnhardy7332
@floralnhardy7332 3 года назад
Deborah W. This is the first year I planted the Bobo hydrangeas so not sure yet about their water needs. However, my other hydrangeas that I have had for 7 years, haven't been watered at all this year, and we have had very little rain, very hot and they have not drooped at all this growing season. They are in full sun, but I am a zone 4. I am hoping once my Bobos get a little older, they will do just as good as my other paniculata hydrangeas. Hope this has helped. Thanks for watching

You should get a professional in to spray your creeping charley before it takes over your whole lawn.

Who here has been squishing the dreadful Japanese Beetles? Yuck, I hate it so much but know I can't just let them go or they'll lay eggs in the ground and come back 10 fold next year!

@judymckerrow6720

I put up Japanese beetle traps. For every beetle I kill, I know they won’t be laying eggs. Yes it does attract them but again every beetle that is killed won’t be laying eggs. Last year I had no beetles, this year only a few. So I believe in the long run it works.💚🙃
