If you're in Australia there's a fantastic reference guide for our military uniforms from the colonial forces to the 2010's (I'll try to find my copy) Also the very first version of DPCU had a wonderful tendency for the camouflage print to rub off on things like seating and grasses that we encounter here 😂
Polish dessert pants are even rarer than you think. These are first patern, produced in limited numbers and were quikly taken over by uniform that became standard desert uniform for next 10+ years. The pants have double pockets on tighs and patern is darker than the standard one.
The DPCU shirt is the second style generally issued in Australia. The first style in general issue had non slanted button up pockets on the chest and epaulettes on the shoulder, the second type had slanted button up pockets on the chest as the shirt in the video has. The last pattern in general issue had slanted pockets on the chest, no epaulettes, rank slide on the chest and pockets on the sleeves. This third style in general issue were called NIR's as they were supposed to have a reduced IR signature. There were also a variety of two piece flying suits and tanker uniforms with zips instead of buttons on the front all in DPCU. These uniforms were heavier material than normal DPCUs and were either non flammable or heavy cotton to reduce burning.
I'm also guessing the hat with the DPCU is not an original issue one but one of the ones you could buy from Military gear shops as it looks like the 'rip stop' material that was not issued to us.
I've got both the "aramid" and "heavy cotton " tanker suits and the cotton ones are by far more comfortable for sitting in humid conditions around our training areas 😅

Disruptive Pattern Camouflage Uniform (DPCU) was issued in the late 1980's in Australia. It might look similar but it is very different with different patterns and colours from Duck Hunter.
@@davidharvey8179 That camouflage hat specifically was a really poor quality knock off that some cadets bought from camping stores in the late 90s early 2000s. Recon and platatac short Brim hats turn up pretty frequently. There were the early short Brim hats late 80s and early 90s before the big floppy bastards. Then short Brim hats were common again with the land 125 uniform. But definitely short Brim hats were in short supply overall. However I assure you it's very unlikely that particular hat would have ever seen use outside a Cadet unit. They are terrible.
@@davidharvey8179 I was about to say, when I was in Afghan, the aussies definitely had the short-brimmed cover. The brits I saw wore both wide-brimmed and short-brimmed covers.
@@sullathehutt7720we were issued wide brim.....just noone but the RAAF wore them since they messed with your hearing (which is bad on patrol) Got in the way if you had to aim a weapon/go prone/look up while working on a building project 😂 Went floppy like a face washer in humidity or got wet Short brim solves alot of those issues but cuts down on sun protection.....which the Brits solved with a neck curtain. Personally I live my Frilly (legionaries cap) that Armour and Mech Cav got issued
