So…I personally have not been a big metal fan…my brother in-law Rob was…August Burns Red was his absolute favorite! He was a tattoo fan as well…he had 2 sleeves both August Burns Red album covers…Constellations on one arm and Phantom Anthem on another…he disappeared a little over a year ago…we searched 24-7 for 6 weeks before his remains were found in a section of woods not far from where we had been searching…it was and is heart wrenching…he was loved and IS missed so painfully much…a few days ago August Burns Red was playing in Pensacola…from the moment my wife and I heard they would be playing we HAD to go…we bought VIP tickets so we could meet the band and tell them how much they meant to someone we loved and miss so much more than I can convey here…hearing his story they were truly touched…i have a tattoo combining two of Rob’s with the August Burns Red “U” and Meddler’s lyrics in memory of him…i had to opportunity to show the band and tell them about Rob and several took pics of it…they were incredibly attentive and sincere in their condolences…during the show they remembered the story and dedicated a set to Rob and his family that still mourns his loss…after the show Matt Greiner took the time to visit with my wife and at his suggestion said a prayer with her…I am still so impressed with the band…not only their musical talents, but their kindness and compassion…that night…those special moments have touched me so much. Thank you August Burns Red…you have a whole new fan base because of your caliber of character as much and more than your musical talents
This song, after hearing probably a thousands times, still gives me goosebumps every time. It's in my top 3 greatest hardcore songs ever made. It's flawless.
If you looked up the lerics then I think your perspective would change if you understood what he was saying. if you wan to some crazy satanic deathmetal then look up The Bride Wore Blood. I love them to.
Andy write... Why would that make him change his mind? That's what makes them so special... The fact they are Christian and so strong in their beliefs makes them so different from the rest of the world. The lyrics are the reason I love the song.
"Meddler" This moment will too pass us by. It's this notion inside all of us to prioritize through our selfish eyes. To be the bull behind the rampage, the reason for all the riot. We'll feed our flame before wasting time on everyone else's, with more problems and less pride. We'll feed our flame before wasting time on everyone else's, the gallows were not supposed to look like this. Oh God, we live in misery, lying here in desperation. We need you here more than anything right now...right now. If everything's relative, then why the emptiness in our souls? If everything's relative, then why the emptiness in our souls? Trying to untie the knot we thought we were untying our entire lives, we're busied up and burnt out.. Everyone together, we will strengthen ourselves. Everyone together, we will strengthen ourselves. Everyone together, we will strengthen ourselves. We will.... Because now we know you won't ever fly fast enough to make time stand still. You won't ever fly fast enough to make time stand still. Stop, listen, and learn. Stop, listen, and learn. You won't ever fly fast enough to make time stand still. Stop, listen, and learn. You won't ever fly fast enough to make time stand still. Stop, listen, and learn. You won't ever fly fast enough to make time stand still. Stop, listen, and learn. You won't ever fly fast enough to make time stand still. Stop, listen, and learn.

ABR is the metalcore band that I connect with the most, despite their occasional Christian messages. Personally I don't care if people believe in a flying spaghetti monster (as long as they aren't inciting genocide or hatred etc), especially when they are able to create some of the most passionate, meaningful music I have heard. I wish I could thank them for the beautiful, heavy music they have given this world
I had the luxury of meeting these guys thanks to my wife!!! VIP in Toronto. I got to thank them personally, they helped me through the darkest of times. To me they are the Iron Maiden of metalcore. No matter what they play I will always love them.
" Oh, God, we live in misery, lying here in desperation. We need you here more than anything right now... Right now" .....This song tells many things about the misery of human being and the power to believe in God!
Don't worry about any particular church, you are the church. Your body is the temple. Music like this... the worship variety... awakens the conscience and your connection with God. Gratitude towards life and what you have been given (The body, capable of understanding) will help you understand that you are a beautiful being, regardless of what anyone has told you. We live among sad people, who do not fully understand what they could be. So worship how you choose to, if it glorifies the Lord, there is nothing better you could do. It doesn't matter if it's gospel, metal, hip hop or R&B. He understands and knows those that love Him.
This is one of those songs that i listened at first and didn't like, but for some reason i listened the 2nd, the 3rd, the 4th and 5th time and finally liked it until i kept it on replay forever lol
That's really weird because that's how it was for me, too. This was actually the first ABR song I heard and I was like, "No, this is weird. Bye." But then I kept replaying cause there was SOMETHING about it. And then all of a sudden it just sounded awesome.
"You will never fly fast enough to make earth stand still" Ever noticed that ABR always has that one rdiculously awesome line repeated a bunch in the outro of the song. ABR's outros are just always so glorious! Just a glorious band in general i suppose!
For those who shun Christian metal, nothing in Bible against making music like this and uplifting the Lord at the same time. God tells us to make a beautiful noise in our singing and worship. I'm willing to bet God enjoys those that make music like this just as much as the original hymns.
Turned this song on with my new subwoofer in my car, and HOLY CRAP!! The bass hits so hard and fast, it feels like my heart is getting jump-started lolol
Never thought I’d hear a metal song about getting beat down by a 9-5 and still trying to have patience and love for your family. And it’s fucking class.
Timeless. What an era and I'm so proud to be a part of it. I was a teenager when this came out. This changed the game for me and always will be the best of times. 🤘
August Burns Red has never done less than impress me. These guys have positive, meaningful lyrics that really hit you and the talent of the instruments is beyond compare. They succeed in broadening the horizons of metalcore and expanded beyond "chug chug chug". I fucking love this band.
This band has always been phenomenal, but this song (to me) is the landmark of where they started making their best music. This song (and album) are KILLER.
I’ll never forget when ABR and suicide silence came to my town with Mitch Lucker. I saw ABR before the show and asked them to play Barbarian(it was probably on the set list anyways) and the singer gave me a nod while they played it.. I’ll never forget that! Vancouver, BC, Croatian cultural centre.
it still amazes me that you guys don't have more fans, like fuck i've listened to your beautiful music for years now and it will not get old. fuckin love you guys
***** I don't know how i stumbled upon you on this comment thread, call it luck more than anything but since you disabled the replies on your own comment, i'm going to respond here. ...And no, I didn't respond because i was "so mad" it was because so many people liked my comment that it reminded me of you and i thought i'd respond to your original comment but of course, i couldn't because you blocked the comment section. But now, this is not your comment thread, therefore you have no control over it, so EADC #lel
One of those bands that has continued to push the envelope with their music! Kudos boys. This song never gets old. I found this album when I went to jrtc, listened to it every night, on replay. So good
Here's a recent story. I was going to see August Burns Red on there recent Frozen Flame Tour. When I was waiting on line there was a Woman hanging around handing out small little books. She was telling us we were all going to hell. Saying that this "Metal" is the Devil's ritual. Ranting on and on about those Bible verses and all that shit. I seriously wanted to tell her to please shut up and don't be ignorant. Since August Burns Red is somewhat of a Christan band. But I really did not want to say a damn thing. Knowing how most people are who take religion seriously. I decided to shut up and pray for her own ignorance. But other then that I had a fucking ball seeing ABR recently. I need to see them again soon after the new album is finished up.
Using metal (or any kind of music for that matter) to promote any kind of religion is of folk matter. Considering how much religions wanted to control what people where listening to in the past (yet still want to and failing at), it's pretty sad. Especially christianity. Not saying this song isn't musically good though. However, listening to Ensiferum or Týr would convince me more of a supernatural existence over August Burns Red (it does not anyway). This christian god or a viking god, what's the difference, really? Well, other than musical preferences... You're chill though. I personnaly would've made the lady shut up. ;)
