The song is supposed to be about ABR's fans and how they appreciate that they love the band, but don't look up to them as a god. That's were the lyrics "Just don't call me your hero" fit in. Don't think of them as something you could never become musically, spiritually, or however you look at it. This is why i love this band because of how powerful their lyrics are.
I love how ABR have no set verses and choruses in their songs, like they’re too cool for that stuff. They listened to all the other bands in history and said “nah we’re doing it different!”
@@EssenceOfTrance how does that matter? It’s not about who did it first, besides - August Burns Red is an icon on combining Melodic Metalcore with Hardcore elements, which led to these structures and many creative ideas that makes them way more enjoyable than those bands for me.
@@Glintingbeetle "we listened to all other bands ans said nah we do it differently" this implies that they were the pioneers of not having choruses but they were not. But I am not trying to start a war on who was first because that was probably someone wayyyy before that anyway.
I don't really listen to this music much anymore but every now and then I come back to it. Its still not my favorite though. Just here for the nostalgia.
I agree. I played Meridian real loud on vacation in my car while my family was getting coffee at this place near Zion. I was just looking at the mountains and jammin' to ABR. It was one of my favorite vacation memories. Also try Provision, Spirit Breaker, Back Burner, Empire...these guys are my favorites
I saw them live in Dublin Few years back They only played for nearly 40 min But jaysus, What energy in the crowd 2nd to none Sweat bruises and screaming Fantastic
He sounds like the dude from Acacia Strain when he hits lows. I find he is probably the best mid-low vocalist in metalcore and Dustin is probably the best highs in metalcore. Either way they are stacked instrumentally and vocally.
This is a good song but Spirit Breaker will forever be my favorite song in the album and by ABR. The raw and pure emotion in that song brings me down to earth and fills me with hope every time i listen to them
We all hurt, we all need We all cry, we all bleed Their dreams, their desires, they consume me The good, the bad, the ugly aren't too much to take I've been put in this position but now I can't bear to leave Stand here with me Together we'll get through this Stand here with me And we'll wash it all away Without you I'm nothing, yes I've come to understand this Without you I'm worthless, yes I've come to understand this I've been handed my life by you The least I can do is listen Pull me aside, step inside and listen to your horror stories Let this song be your motivation Let your life be your inspiration You can't hide your fear in this chorus, in this chorus forever If I could do more I promise you I would but this is your time If I could do more I promise you I would but this is your time now Whisper your grief, scream your sorrow, proclaim your love Just don't call me your hero Whisper your grief, scream your sorrow, proclaim your love Just don't call me your hero Tell me your stories, I'll lend you my ears Tell me your horror, I'll make it disappear I'm absorbing the impact of the young at heart Young at heart We all hurt, we all need We all cry, we all bleed We have hope We all hurt, we all need We all cry, we all bleed We have hope We all hurt, we all need We all cry, we all bleed We have hope.
They are hands down one of the best in this scene. I've loved this band for more than ten years. Since Looks Fragile... they have been my favorite, even through different singers...
I was kidding around, I think metal music requires some of the most talent anyone can possess as far as playing an instrument goes, I just thought the flip flop were funny so I made a silly comment😂
Meaning of this video or at least what I interpret from it, 1. The car is symbolized as you. The car may be in a state where it cannot be repaired but God can make all things new. 2. The kids represent the world and sin and how our selfishness and sin can destroy us. Moral is we all have hope through Christ and I encourage you if you don't know him to find his hope.
***** Actually two. One of which is just yelling into the mic. If want to hear a half decent vocalist, check out Fronz of Atilla. I hate Atilla but the vocals are cool. Also check out Dan Wanson (ex-infant annihilator).
This song is amazing! The highs and lows in the singing, the drums, the guitar riffs, it doesn't get any better then this! Even for ABR this is far above their other songs imo.
It's funny, normally I'm not into metalcore but I guess there's something different about August Burns Red (and a few other -core bands) that compels me to listen to them.
Ty O'Regan yeah man but this is truth. Religion aside we all have a fucked up morality and music brings me out of my evil. This is taking my evil thoughts and bringing me cleansing! This isn't "demonic", it's kinda the exactly opposite.
ABR is legendary. If they were in the 90s, they would have been ON TOP OF ALL. But nowadays, the ocean of bands these days is soooo deep, that there will never be THE ONE anymore.
I can understand why my friends hate this music, even though I like it, but one thing that pisses me off is when I showed my mate Melodic Death Metal and he's like: SCREAMO NO! I REFUSE TO LISTEN!
maybe its just some people who got fed up of the super originality of metalcore, even if they been in the few first major metalcore bands out there, it doesnt change that evrey metalcore band right now sounds all the same, you have to have a terrible taste in music not to see whats up with this genre these days... its some sort of my own opinion, dont hate on me, especially if your an underaged girl
phil d i just don't understand people like you. metalcore is a genre and honestly abr doesnt follow the "norm" of music they have tryed to change but then people bitch that it has changed.
no no im not saying the band is bad at all, im saying that i can't stand why people hate this.. this is really good no lie, i just don't get why people do have to complain about this like a bunch of little kids who can't get ice cream.. if u don't get that it's a reference for how people complain stuff is like
I find the video monumentally dumb. But I absolutely love this album. I was so pumped when I first heard this single. I can't wait for their new stuff.
I agree. Every now and again, you'll get a fantastic song (like this one) paired with a dumb, confusing, or just bad music video (like this one). It doesn't happen very often, but it does happen. I even made a playlist of other great songs with terrible music videos. So, far, it's up to 11 or so. And yeah, _Rescue & Restore_ is awesome. I really like "Creative Captivity" and this song. I also like _Leveler_. "Empire" is, in my opinion, their best song ever.
I guess clear vocals aren't for everybody. I personally like the little touches of it here and there so it adds a little variety to their music. And in my opinion, bands like the ones I listen to plan every single note, every change in pitch, every beat of the drum so they wouldn't leave anything that they thought was needed out: especially clean vocals. To top it off, my bands don't play for the people's pleasure, they play for their hearts and for themselves. I can see where the others are coming from because bands like Nine Lashes and Icon for Hire went away from punk/metal/heavy metal and went more tech or pop: especially Icon for Hire. I still like 9L though because they're still really good and I'd still support them even though their transition was sudden and unsatisfying. They had a change of mind and wanted to try something else. No one can stay a moody teen forever, and ultimately it is their music and their decision, and if I still love them, I wish them the best even if they let me down. Anyways this is a little too long, so...
You must have a simplistic view of music if this is considered mathcore to you. This would be the absolute worst attempt at mathcore ever. But thankfully it's just meant to be progressive metalcore. And it excels at that.
Kloe McCoy listen to this kind of music as much as u want, nobody can take it from you. You have your own likes, ways... every person is unique, if they dont accept you as you are, show middle finger to them because who are they to say thing or another to you. (a bit inspiration) :D
Stop arguing about which album you prefer, because in the end you all agree that August Burns Red is a heavenly awesome band. Nevertherless i'm worried that you all rate Rescue & Restore this low. In my opinion they made a incredible job on this one, just like they always do. (and I fucking loved Sleddin' Hill as well)
First off, I love the video! As far as matching lyrical content & visual representation go, I think it captures the spirit well. For me it's about the guys' experiences hanging out with fans after the shows and the stories that get shared. "We all hurt", "Together we'll get through this". "without you, I am nothing." The band is grateful that they can inspire their fans, but are quick to admit that they have "horror stories" of their own too. "Proclaim your love, just don't call me your hero."
