Snooze is my fav d-day song, a message to artists who are struggling. He was extremely honoured to work with Mr Sakamoto, a japanese pianist and composer. Yoongi first started music by sampling Mr Sakamoto’s pieces and rearranging them, he was super inspired by him as a young teenager. If you watch the documentary at some point, you’ll see their really beautiful first time meeting. He sadly passed away due to cancer a few weeks before the album came out. Rest in piece. Woosung is the lead singer of an indie rock band called The Rose. He’s originally from near Los Angeles and moved to Korea as an adult - he and his band formed independently, street busking, and write/produce basically all their music, but really struggled finding a label, ended up being scammed and not paid any money for their music, and finally created their own label after a very long lawsuit. I recommend their music, I discovered them less than a year ago but love Woosung and The Rose a lot. Woosung is the same age as Yoongi (1993), they’re friends :) I think those were the perfect two people to collab with on a song about dreams and how hard but beautiful life as an artist is - his musical inspiration who made him start producing, and a fellow singer who knows exactly how tough the industry can be. It really gives weight to the message, that all 3 very much know what they’re talking about with this song.

If you watch Suchwita episodes where the guests are younger than him, you'll see that he often takes on the role of a mentor, whether it's his own members (Jimin) or from other groups (Seventeen's Hoshi or TXT's Yeonjun and Taehyun). The TXT boys mentions how rare it is to find a senior like Yoongi, who takes time to guide them and give them advise. So I think this song is an extension of that, of Yoongi's desire to become a safe place for these younger artists.

Just a reminder that Yoongi suffered through depression, social anxiety, etc and been through it for a long time while dealing with BTS hardships, so he knows firsthand the challenges of going that path in the “ring” (whatever field, industry, business, even society) and he’s giving his own sustaining advice to those being in it (whether younger/less experience or just army). As someone who has suffered and still do deal with it time to time, him repeating that line many times was like treatment/therapy. I almost don’t want him to stop. I realize when I’m dealing with this, that people in general really really don’t understand what it’s really like. People may talk about that they are aware of it or have an idea of it, but they actually really don’t. I thought I did before and I was understanding of people, but when I’m in it, it sucks so bad and you feel like you have no choice and most friends/family don’t understand. I think that’s why I appreciated his lines in Amygdala, where he said, do make your best choice, then second best choice, then third best choice... It’s coping and trying not to give up in the journey. Because that was what I had been doing in the midst of wanting to give up, to make the next best choice.

This is my favourite song on the album. Ryuichi Sakamoto is an incredibly talented and world-renowned Japanese composer and record producer who sadly passed away in March. He won an Oscar, a BAFTA, a Grammy, and two Golden Globe Awards. He was also a big inspiration to Yoongi. When he was first learning to make music, he would sample Sakamoto's work. Yoongi got to meet Sakamoto last year, which was filmed for the Road to D-Day documentary. It was exceptionally touching to watch. If you are curious, he has lots of work, but one of his most famous is Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence. The other feature on the track is Woosung from the Korean rock band, The Rose. His voice shreds me. The Rose is one of the only other Korean artists that I listen to so this was extra special.

You might already know by now that being same-age friends is a big deal in Korea. Yoongi seemed to have find himself a couple of those in the industry, Woosung being one of them. The other two that we know are IU (from "People Pt. 2) and El Capitxn, who produce and co-produce a lot of his songs, including eight songs on "D-Day".

@@Jurnalist_ cause being older or being younger than someone brings up a lot of rules on how you have to treat them and the words you have to use to speak at them , but with friends that are the same age you can treat them as equal.

@@Jurnalist_ - Age hierarchy is a big deal in Korea. For example, although Jin was born in December 1992 and Suga in March 1993 (only three months apart), Suga still uses honorifics to address Jin. Same-age friends (like V and Jimin, or RM and J-hope, who are born in the same year, 1995 and 1994 respectively) don't have this barrier and can be more casual with each other. Suga is the only one born in 1993 in BTS.

It's just beautiful, always have goosebumps when listening. I think it's a message from Yoongi to young artists (or artists in general). It is even more meaningful when you think about how many Idols end their life because of the pressure and receiving hate for the smallest things ( those "controversies" he mentioned in the song).

I love this song!! It’s my favorite 💜 he’s letting the younger generation of idols that he will be there for them. He didn’t have anyone to go to when they got their success. He wants them to know he will be there for advice. Woosung sang he’s from a group the rose. Mr Sakamoto was a great pianist whom suga looked up to and he was able to meet him and have him play piano on this song before he passed away 💜

I love snooze so much, the everything will be alright + so far away callback really felt like a warm and very reassuring hug 🥺 Yoongi's words of comfort and affirmation were like what his younger self needed to hear... If you revisit 140503 at Dawn, the lyrics is a pure cry for help and a plead... A lot of things he said in that song is parallel to People Pt. 2, but this time w/ realizations & comforting words.. A fun bit: Idk if you already notice that yoongi has a signature lyric, "big house, big cars and big rings" across his verses in BTS/agust d discog, it's like a cursor (moving pointer) running through Yoongi's timeline updating his life status... No More Dream (2013) - he wanted it Home (2019) - he got it & everything he wanted Interlude: Shadow (2020) - questioning, isn't that what you wanted? What Do You Think? (Agust D 2020) - flexing it Hoping you can listen to these songs..also my favorite verse w/ that lyric is in "Home" 🥰

While I partially agree with your view, more than a wake up call I think it's indeed a "snooze" button. If you feel drained, just hit that snooze and rest for another 5 minutes, when you are ready be sure I'll be here on your side to catch you/help you on your way (he wrote it for his juniors in the industry, since he feels he/them had no real mentors in there, they/he wants to be all that for anyone in their line of work so he can offer advice from his own experience: good and bad). Dream. Rest. And then go tackle those dreams.

koreans are very intense not always in a bad way but a lot of things that we hear about the kpop industry are things that are "normal" parts of their overall society and bleeds into all industries. this picture perfect image idols are supposed to have goes for all public figures whether youre a athlete a actor a idol or a indie artist or a comedian if youre looking to gain money and success from public support the public opinion matters. even though bighit works very differently than most korean labels unless the idols are gonna join bighit then they have to know the industry struggles before trying to join. suga doesnt know everything obviously but he and bts know and have seen a lot whether from personal experience or just seeing what happens to others. so this was suga giving advices to younger idols or soon to be idols in general. his words hold so much weight not only because of bts status but because of sugas struggles with mental health as well. many people see his song as more than just advice but life lesson and him almost pleading with the younger idols to take it easy. especially the lines " just hang in there no matter where you are" and the repetition of "its gonna be okay" and the reminder that "youre human just like anyone else" because a lot of idols from 2017 to present day have unalived themselves due to the pressure sadly even a few days before this album was released a idol allegedly unalived himself his name was moonbin if you wanna look into it. it felt even more heartbreaking hearing this song after that it felt like suga was trying to send this song to prevent situations like that. this song is so comforting but also haunting. he has a conversation with txt members on suchwita which touches on this a little like you can kinda see this song brought to life in that conversation idk if it was written before or after but hes genuinely trying to be a mentor which bts never had one because bts made it their mission in a way to be nice to the younger artists because majority of the older groups were not nice to bts. many younger groups even said they were surprised bts treated them kindly and almost like equals because most senior artists dont do that especially if theyre not in the same labels. this is why when people say bts has older idol friends i look at it sideways cause bts says very differently and has said many times that no one supported them or gave them advice then they reached to a point where no one could give them advice cause they were the first ones to do it so theyve always been on their own since the start and suga didnt want that for txt and other groups.

Everytime the song gets to the so far away lyrics part after the everything's gonna be alright section, I just have to shut my eyes and just feel that sht. I really get chills everytime that part comes up. I dunno why. The callback to so far away is too powerful. Anybody who is especially familiar with the jin jk version of so far away will feel it. This song couldn't have been structured in a better way.

Also favorite song from the album for me. It just opened something in me when I listened to it, and i just bawled. I think part of it is how I deal with regret and how much i regret resting, and quitting something that i have worked hard on (two degrees of the same process). Especially after you have invested so much into something and it is important to you, it is so hard to let it go, even if you desperately need a rest. This song feels like a positive cycle in a way that young artists working with older artists usually does, but stronger. Cause it is not just the fact that they are collaborating, its the message, its the sound, its the fact that Sakamoto worked on it in the hospital before he passed, it is the fact that Suga embodies this message outside of the music, its the fact that Suga is not trained in classical music and yet received so much respect and understanding from Sakamoto when they met, its the fact that Woosong has his own story that relates to it from a completely left field. Bts has so many bad stories from the industry, and yet they aren't bitter. Its impressive. I wonder how many people owe them favors just cause they were nasty to them before, and bts never came to charge for it.
