So, so lovely! Thanks for giving us the lay of the land.😃 I love that you shared it has taken 8 years for the garden to get where it is. I am feeling anxious lately because some of my plants are crowding out my pathway. I’m feeling claustrophobic in the garden lately.😆 I haven’t chosen a material for the pathway yet, so I guess that gives me some leeway to widen it if I have to. But I always love the way your plants soften your path. And your garden seems so cozy and private.💖

Box blight and caterpillars are an issue for us in the UK so may be something to read into in case its not spider mites. Your garden is beautiful.

Your garden is beautiful.All gardeners have spaces that "draw a blank" and have to be set aside for when inspiration hits. It's OK to just move along with the spaces that inspire you and that you can see clearly in your mind's eye. Let it evolve... what you have done in less than nine years in remarkable. Can't wait to see how it continues to grow. I'm also in zone 5, in NH. UGH, so challenging.

Love your garden!! You have packed so many beautiful shrugs & flowers. It's perfect. We, as Gardeners know exactly what you mean by having a vision then plants have their own. lol Since your Rose is so special to you, mulch well. I build a little frame "house" around my tender perenials with some wood & heavy see through plastic? Or put it into a big flower pot & keep it sheltered for winter. I'm in Zone 8a & learned from our March 80⁰ weather for 2 weeks, then lots of rain 👏, but then a horrible frost for 2 days that wiped out the buds / flowers of all of my fruit trees, shrubs & killed many tender perenial flower bushes.

I love growing scarlet runner beans, pink lady runner beans and purple pole beans for my vining plants. Hummingbirds love the flowers and you get beans to harvest. I’m in zone 5 too so maybe you may enjoy growing them also.

We have a similar fire pit situation where it’s just grass and the chairs are always in the way. My dream is to make a permanent space with gravel for the chairs, but it would have to be wide or you’d be right in the fire practically 😅 Ours is also on a slope, so we’d really like to make a small retaining wall that would double as extra seating and border the gravel circle. Just dreams though, ya know? Low on the priority list…we just move the chairs to mow every week 🫠

I have some white echinacea in part sun and they do really well. Echinacea in general is a good pick, something that stays compact so it doesn’t flop over. The white blooms seem to shine even more when they aren’t in blazing sun.

Roxanna could you please tell me where you bought your Annabelle’s from. I can’t find them anywhere around here this summer. I even tried Sullivan and Rosie’s nurseries. Not at Lowe’s, home depo or Menards either. I love your garden ( flowers and vegetables)!!!!
@SoilandMargaritas
@SoilandMargaritas Год назад
That Anabelle was given to my from my neighbor as a division, it was SO tiny I did not think it was coming back, my elderly neighboor is no longer living here because Alzheimer's was taking over her life unfortunately, this plant and my Kerria Japonica came from her garden, that's why they are so special to me.

Beautiful ❤❤❤ looking forward watching you divide the Annabelle hydrangeas, I need to do the same. Do you have any suggestions for flowers in the vegetable garden for part sun? Unfortunately, my vegetable garden doesn't get full sun but the only area I have for it.
@SoilandMargaritas

You can do nasturtiums, basil (doubles for pollinator magnet!), I found my calendula prefers a bit of sun too.

@SoilandMargaritas thank you, I do have two different types of basil and it's doing pretty good. I really do want to try some nasturtium but probably next year too late now probably? I do also have some marigolds and they are doing good.
