Would you consider making a video for us beginner gardeners on how to take a blank slate and create a magical garden like yours? Please and thank you in advance!
I have a zucchini in my greenstalk as well. It’s getting huge and starting to lean on other plants under it. I’m going to try to transplant it. Wish me luck!!
I let mine seed out every year. It gets messy but doesn’t mind me tromping by it in the paths. I just found a young bunch yesterday and dried some. So I never need to plant it. I was staying on top of herbs this year so far and have basil dried I need to finish packing. It’s was a nice spring with rain-too much now. We’ve had about 10” of rain recently and had the heat and humidity to a stifling point and yet this morning we had 49.2 Degrees. Many things seem to be lagging and I’m not so sure starting flowers early helped much. I always expect they start in about the 4th of July and they are on mark. Tomatoes I’m not sure. I watch one zone warmer vids and they seem to be a month ahead. I’m just observing that my south garden might be getting too much shade as these oaks are getting bigger. The north garden gets full sun and plants are stronger. Looks like the north garden will need to be tomatoes from now on. The lower lean method seems to work great in your garden. Mine would sunburn here and no way I could keep up trimming them. We have had Great cauliflower success with a new 45 day variety and couldn’t be happier. It’s all about the right varieties in my garden and so happy to have found that one.
Hi Rosita! I'm Julie from NW side of Indy. I love your channel and love having someone local to follow. We are growing many of the same things. Have a great gardening summer!
Hey! I still am! I just feel like I spend more time with the veggies lately and that’s what you guys see. I’m getting ready to do a container video to show some updates, that should be coming out this week or so.
Everything looks amazing!! My little vegetable garden is doing amazingly well this year very pleased, especially with my tomatoes and squash. I woke up this morning to a few blooms on my hardy hibiscus 🌺
Make zucchini boats! Brown Italian sauasage, drain. Slice zucchini down the middle, scrap out the inside leaving a little around the edges. Drain very well. Add drained italian sausage to the zuchinni mixture. Add fresh grated mozzarella. Sprinkle extra mozzarella on top. This baby should make 2 nice boats! Bake 350° 20-30 mins til toasty on top. So good! Eat & enjoy!
Thanks for sharing your journey. It's inspirational and aspirational for us beginners. I heard about you because of roots and refuge. Jessica randomly mentioned your channel because she watches and so here I am. This was the first video of yours that I watched because I'm trying to start a channel myself (🎉Shout out to my 99 subscribers 🎉... lol). But I'm looking forward to watching your other videos! Also then q&a at the end of this vid is super helpful! Be well
I watched another lady's video and she put the seed in boiling hot water 💧 and the seed cracked opened in seconds. You may try this technique to see if it works to speed up the process.
I am trying Thai basil for the first time. I have been drying it in the oven flowers & leaves. I found it better for that application than sweet basil. Good luck
Some tithonia get absolutely massive. But there are some cultivars that only get 2 or 3 feet tall. I guess we’ll find out 🙃 I waited too long to plant mine out and then we got dry heat and now they seem stunted. There’s enough time left I think…I’m going to try again.
I agree with you! There is still time. Just plant things. We may not get frost till November. What do you have to list? I just planted beets and mini pumpkins and sunflowers.
Oh my goodness, I have 5 sunflowers in my little raised bed I counted 11 blooms on one and 7 on another the other 3 arent as large yet but my tallest one is over 8 feet tall. I had no idea I had sunflowers planted. I planted supersized zinnias well I didnt get supersized zinnias but these sunflowers are a very nice suprise. Good luck on your gardens.
Asi es, aunque no me comfio mucho, si nos llegan unos dias fuertes de clima frio se lleva a todas mis plantas que son hardy a la zona 6, pero pues asi es.
We have been getting too much rain so I switched to a granular fertilizer. Plants seem to be ok after we straightened them up from storms. The Tithonia I think needs a longer season because what I thought was a field weed last year turned out to be that flower. It had one flower and the frost took it. Not sure if it was a late bloomer 😅 or just started late. The mosquitoes are disgusting and the dew point today is in the 80s, temp is 91 and was a real feel of 104 but we have an overcast now so it’s down a couple degrees-Lol, I don’t think it matters much. Our low this am was 72. Suppose to get drier cooler air for a couple days and I will look forward to it. Right now I’m stuck inside-just too hideous outside. Z5a, WI.
I feel like in a lot of places they went from a cold spring straight to hot summer temps overnight, we had a lot of rain and it was definitely warmer for Spring. We will see how those tithonias do for being planted that late.
