Mel all your makes are gorgeous but that silk dress and the kimono are just divine! Luscious :) Those courses look VERY challenging - hats off to you for taking those on! I'm presently making the Cambria Duster by Friday Company in a beautiful olive sateen. I had already cut it out when it crossed my mind that I should see if anyone had made it up that had some advice (like you I thought OH BOY it would have been smart to do that BEFORE I cut the whole thing out!) and a blogger mentioned the sleeves were 3/4 so she lengthened them. I hadn't noticed that! In the picture on the front of the envelope honestly those sleeves did not look like 3/4 length! So I made up 6 inch cuffs to extend the sleeves. I think that should work. I've never owned a duster but in my Kibbe body type (soft dramatic) it's one of my best garments :) Have you checked out the Kibbe body types literature? It's been such an eye opener. Again a little late - I would have really appreciated knowing this 30 years ago :)) If you haven't come across Kibbe you might enjoy watching Aly ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rLIuYHLzZpM.html there are several youtubers that talk about Kibbe but I've enjoyed Ali's work the most. This link will take you to the test but she has several videos on Kibbe well worth watching :)

Really lovely makes Mel, I especially like your bodysuit and Kimono, both are beautiful! Gosh those straps do look tiny to turn though on your silk dress, I bet it feels very luxurious to wear. It was very interesting hearing about the courses you are undertaking, but yes very overwhelming lol, lots of information to take in. Xx

Your silk dress looks like luscious jewels, just beautiful. I keep looking at my fabrics thinking about making a kimono jacket. After seeing your make I'm just going to have to pick a fabric and go for it. I love the length of the one you made. My next makes will be for my granddaughter's 9th birthday. She really wants jeggings and a plaid shirt. I plan to make those plus a skirt and vest to mix and match. I'm off to the fabric store this morning to see what I can find for fabric. The skirt and vest is actually a pattern I made for myself when I was 12.

Some fabulous makes - everything is just so lovely. Your courses look really interesting and I can't wait to see what you make from them. I am very tempted to think about the University of Fashion course next Spring. I started sewing with a dream of making some of the things I saw in magazines and I think this would really help me. I know I can buy books but really like to see people making things. I have plans for this next few months - want to make trousers, shirts/blouses and exercise clothes. Once I have filled in thsoe gaps in my wardrobe (and my skills) I will definitely look at this course. Thanks again for sharing your inspiration.

Oh goodness! You are making me very ashamed at not getting on with my sewing room! I love the slip dress. Beautiful fabric and it looks fabulous on you. It wouldn't suit me as I am too lumpy and bumpy to wear fabric cut on the bias. Recently I bought a corset kit from Sew Curvy and have made a toile but lacing it up is such a struggle!! I close the top and the bottom opens and vice versa. So the corset academy sounds wonderful. I want the corset to smooth my figure rather than lose inches though if I lost inches it would be a bonus. I have some patterns from Charm patterns which I love but need some help to look good in them. I love watching your videos, they do spur me on. Lovely!

Thanks so much, the silk is so beautiful 💖 I can’t wait to try corsets, my boning arrived yesterday so now I’m good to try the first (simple) one. I wonder if a zipped closure rather than lace would work? Thanks for watching xx
@lunasmum6869
@lunasmum6869 4 года назад
@@HandmadeByDitsyTulip I've considerd a zip closure but busks are really easy to do up as long as you have the laces opened to their full extent at the back. A zip is less likely to show through clothes if you wear it underneath.

Thanks Claire 💖 I’m finding the university of fashion so useful, the video aren’t the most engaging but very informative. I have to stop myself from going off on a tangent and jumping ahead mind. I’m enjoying draping as I can see it taking shape as I’m doing it, but also want to learn pattern making. I think you can try a free trial to test it out xx
