Edifice Complex sounds so so interesting!! I will definitely be checking that one out. Glad you loved Black Sheep! Its one of my faves of hers. I'm SO hyped for We Used To Live Here!!! I've heard so many people loving it. I hope I'm one of them too!

Although we disagree on Frankenstein, we are on the same team with our love of Shirley Jackson's works. I'm making it my mission to tell everyone about Edifice Complex. It's like nothing else I've ever read, and I truly appreciate your originality and creativity in crafting the story. It is such a refreshingly dark, twisted, and fun novel. I hope you enjoy Gemma Amor and Rachel Harrison. They have very different writing styles and tones, but they're both among my favorites.

I love that the glow freaked your husband out, lol. The sound sensitivity reminds me of Roderick Usher in The Fall of the House of Usher. We Used to Live Here definitely sounds unsettling and intriguing.

A month full of 4 and 5 star reads is excellent! I'm with you on We Used to Live Here. After the double disappointment of Horror Movie and Incidents Around the House, it was nice to have a book that lived up to the hype. House of Leaves is one of my favorites. I think the comparisons with this book are pretty superficial, but I hope it works for you this time around.

@adriennelee26 The two books you mentioned as disappointments were the exact two I was thinking of. I'm so glad We Used To Live Here lived up to the hype. I'm excited about trying House of Leaves again. I have a study guide this time around, so I'm feeling optimistic🤣

I hope your 4th go at House of Leaves is successful. (Like they say, 4th time's the charm.) It's one of my all-tim favourites. I hope you give yourself the time to ease into it. For me, the first 150-200 pages or so were tough to get into, but then I got sucked into the book and had a great experience with it.
