Hadelich is ridiculous. His mastery is unmatched. I could never even imagine what it would take to learn and memorize such a piece and play it with such clarity and musicality. Truly incredible.
Zhe Zahl, while we might never achieve the mastery of Hadelich, I urge you to look at the Ysaye sonatas, just begin to work on a few passages, you will straight away realise that they are written beautifully for us violinists. I think they contain all the elements of violin playing and the score is full of clues and patterns which actually makes memorising the easy part! If I could take one score and my violin to a desert island, it would be these six sonatas...🤗
@@clairemagnolia I second this. They look and sound absolutely terrifying to attempt, but they fit the hand far better than most pieces written for the instrument.

Reminds me of the Washington Post quote, “The essence of Hadelich’s playing is beauty: reveling in the myriad ways of making a phrase come alive on the violin, delivering the musical message with no technical impediments whatsoever, and thereby revealing something from a plane beyond ours.”
Every single note he plays on has thoughtful philosophy behind. The notes that he plays are not just mere notes, but has a life in it which transforms into our heart. His music is not for the sake of virtuoso, but the genuine search for the truth. Thank you for this outstanding rendition!
Such virtuosity. Best I’ve heard in my 78 years. Every note and double/triple/quadruple stop clean and bell clear. No muddle at the frenzied multiple down bow flurry at the end. Every note distinguishable unlike the Vengeroff indistinguishable note pile.
@@mek9186 I actually agree with him, take a look at the moment on 6.32 - each note is crystal clear, and Augustin hadn't taken any attempts to speed up the tempo, unlike Vengerov
I will never understand the utter snobbery that makes people comment in that way instead of just saying "I prefer this to Vengerov's version where you can't distinguish all the notes at times". You're not lifting Hadelich up by putting down another artist who's probably way better than you are at any instrument.
Just like with any of Augustin’s performance, you can hear the dedication and care he puts behind every note. Love how I can instantly recognize his playing just by listening to the audio because I’ve listened to him so much!

Probably my most favorite interpretation of this sonata. Some violinists play it so fast and "passionate" that they seem to be showing off their technical mastery rather than playing every single note clearly as Ysaye wrote into this piece. Hadelich is truly sublime!
It does feel like it drags a little though. Tentative in places where boldness is maybe more suggested. Melancholy where bravado is perhaps a better option, except at 6:30 - which is just magic! Vengerov's younger performance is too fast, I agree. I wish we could see him do it again now.
I thought I had heard great performances of this Sonata, until I heard this. What an amazing interpretation and flawless performance. Unparalleled tone.

Just that chord at 2:05 is so immensely powerful that it just blows my mind. Nothing is ever crunched yet everything is so powerful when Hadelich plays. It's incredible.
Perfect balance of the poetic and virtuosic. Loved the way he took so much time in the more reflective/mysterious episodes of this piece. As a violinist and musician Hadelich is the complete package imo.

I was lucky enough to get to see him play in San Antonio. Orchestra level box seat the only way to watch it if you want to immerse yourself in the music. can't wait to see him play again! Incredible!
Mr. Hadelich's performances are unique; unique in all aspects of technique and musicianship, but especially in the magic of their communication to our souls. We cannot but help but be affected by them, as I have cried, been shaken, and inspired by everything he does. Part of this communication is due to the fact that he never uses music, yet we cannot say it is merely 'memorized', but part of his enormous ability to know and understand the language of music as he conveys it via his violin.
Watch out Mr. Vengerov your throne is under threat! In my humble opinion this performance pays greater homage to Ysaye in its accuracy of interpretation, and as such is, and I never thought I would ever say or write this, better than Mr. Vengerov’s rendition! I believe this young man is set to become the Heifetz of the 21st century.
I so agree but with a much lighter bow arm and less robotic, I love Heifitz his playing is the standard for all violinists, and we've got so much more to witness this wonderful artist I can't wait hes amazing.
@@cipheraltura2202 sorry I disagree but its cool, thats your opinion I respect it. Hadelich has a richer more Hebrew sound i.e. Perlman and he is precise in his delivery going light and heavy bowing with just the right pressure in my humble opinon.
Mindestens schon zehnmal von Maestro Hadelich hier abgehört. Immer wieder aufwirbelnd. Das alte Shaw-Wort an den jungen Heifetz, er solle sich vor neidischen Göttern in Acht nehmen, möge weiter walten. So großartig auch im Brahms-Konzert. Wish I were in Germany...

how different from Mo Yang who plays wonderfully with a strength to his bowing. but Augustin plays with so much passion and beauty. i am so incredibly glad i found him. he made me fall on love with the violin :) 🎻
