The singer of Auld Lang Syne in this video is NGOC LAN - (1956-2001). She grew up in Vietnam and was queen of the pop music there. She moved to America in 1980. She died in the year 2001, at Huntington beach, California.
When I was a child back in England in the fifties all the kids would form a circle and dance and sing to this on the stroke of midnight. The nostalgia is overwhelming when I recall those old days back in the old country now lost beyond the gulf of time more than half a century ago.
This one of the first videos that I ever watched on RU-vid, back around 2007 or 2008. I was simply looking up the song "Auld Lang Syne" and this is what I clicked on. I loved this video, and now I am revisiting it after sometime, with the passing of yet another year within sight. I still love this song, and it's bittersweet nature cannot be duplicated.
Such a beautiful solemn song, it brings with it memories of friends who have gone ahead of us, memories of friendships lost and a promise of another tomorrow.
Yes you are right. When I listen to this song I remember the old days celebrating christmas and new year with my parents.cebratting waiting night with my brothers and sisters.parents no more.I myself a grand mother now. A very beautiful song. In India we use to sing this song in Bengali and the Bengali version is "Purano Sei Diner Kotha......" . Rabindranath Tagore translated this song into Bengali and the Great Poet Tagore mixed some Bengali feelings and emotions too. The languages are different but feelings are same. Music has no language, music has no barrier. Only a music lover can feel the purity and emotions of a song irrespective of languages.
Rabi Thakur almost replied to the song. While the original one asks whether the memories and acquaintances could be forgotten, Thakur says, "O, is it ever possible! No it's not. It is in our hearts and is too lovable and close to be forgotten."
Feb 4, 2021. My dad passed 4 days ago. He mentioned this song and this movie to me when we were in my car not long ago. I even told him this is a Scottish folk song. I miss him already.
Im crying while listening this music because I remember all bad things happened this 2020, I remember how much excited I am when New Year 2020 came, but I made regrets. I wish 2021 will be better and will be a peaceful year. ❤️❤️❤️
This is the best version of the song. No debate whatsoever. Or maybe it’s just because this was probably what I listend to when I first listened to Auld Lang Syne when I was a kid.
You would be glad to hear to know that our own Tagore composed a song and used exactly the same tune. You can listen to the Tagore song sang by the legend, Debabrata Biswas: Purano sei diner katha, exactly conveying the idea of the song: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QkZQECwdDyE.html
But her life didn’t end in a happy way. I believe that this film followed her in her mind sometimes, when she was unhappy. Perhaps she wanted to give birth to a child, and that didn’t happen. To have a great success is not everything for some great stars, and that was something that Vivian Leigh new deep inside of her personality. Beautiful video and beautiful music.
This was the only movie and song my mom watched and loved. On her wedding day, when the wedding band asked her for a song to play., she said song in Waterloo Bridge. It stunned everyone because it was a sad movie that the actress died at the end. But anyway, they played the music. She had a pretty tough life to raise up a family of 6 children. My mom and dad loved each other very much all their lives. The children owed her very much.
Lyrics- Should auld acquaintance be forgot And never brought to mind? Should auld acquaintance be forgot And days of auld lang syne? For auld lang syne, my dear For auld lang syne We'll tak a cup o' kindness yet For days of auld lang syne We twa hae run about the braes And pu'd the gowans fine But we've wander'd mony a weary fit Sin days of auld lang syne We twa hae paidl'd i' the burn Frae morning sun till dine But seas between us braid hae roar'd Sin days of auld lang syne For auld lang syne, my dear For auld lang syne We'll tak a cup o' kindness yet For days of auld lang syne And surely ye'll be your pint-stowp And surely I'll be mine And we'll tak a cup o' kindness yet For auld lang syne And there's a hand, my trusty fiere And gie's a hand o' thine And we'll tak a right gude-willy waught For auld lang syne For auld lang syne, my dear For auld lang syne We'll tak a cup o' kindness yet For auld lang syne For auld lang syne, my dear For auld lang syne We'll tak a cup o' kindness yet For auld lang syne
This beautiful song never fails to bring a tear to this 71year old sentimental guy! Which brings backs beautiful memories of those of dear love ones that have gone!
Every year and this year w/o fail I've come back to this memorable song. I dedicate it to the many who do not see the New Year, babies, young children, adults and seniors. Accidents of are avoidable as is death from some diseases. Well- that's letting the cat out of the bag for me and my interests. To all who have lived to read this; God graceful mercy to you and all!

Did You Know? The great Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore composed his famous song "Purano sei diner kotha" with notes from this song. What a huge Western impact Indian people had at that time.
This song is evergreen. It brings back so many memories of my old friends who have all crossed over to the other side . Every year we used to dance and to welcome the NEW YEAR when the clock struck midnight, we would all join hands, form a circle and we would all sing this song !!! Oh, what precious memories of those bygone years ! So sad and nostalgic for me.

This song makes me forget that the world is so divided and evil. The melody makes me feel like humans are all good and happy. If the world ever comes to an end, I'd love to see everyone singing this song together until we turn into dust. 😔
i don't know why i listen this music everyday, my same aged boys like modern music ,but i like classical music ,i felt like this music part of my life .
When I was a boy, we all gather and sing Auld Lang Syne at the end of each school day before we head home, walking about 6 miles. And that was in Hong Kong. What a sweet memory.
This is why I'm scared of growing up, I'm only 13 but already miss so many memories, but realising that I'm gonna be making more makes me scared but excited for what's next to come..!

It's a very good song In Japan, it is used as a parting song for graduation ceremonies such as firefly light and music. Before the war, it was used as a farewell song for soldiers going to the battlefield. Currently only the 1st and 2nd are used and the 3rd and 4th are deleted after the war

I once heard this song from a cartoon back when I was really young. I didn't know what the lyrics were but the melody remained inside my head after all those years. And finally, I can now listen to this song whenever I want to, now that I know the title of it. Simply beautiful.
Innocent couple meet their tragedy. This song show resemblance on how purely love meeting by chance and soon never to be find forever. Lester already accepted the reality but she didn't realise coincidence will makes her even sufferer.

Singer is NGỌC LAN from VIETNAM! The move Waterloo Bridge was published in Vietnam in 1960s, and Ngọc Lan covered song "Auld Lang Syne" as ost of the movie.
This song is very famous in Vietnam because the French brought it to Vietnam during the time when Vietnam was their colony in 19th century. It was still famous in South Vietnam during the Vietnam War period from 1954-1975 (this kind of music and the Western cultures are forbidden in North Vietnam) thanks to the scouting movement in the South by the Americans. My uncle was a soldier of the Republic of Vietnam, he used to play guitar (he was very good player and very artistic) and taught his sisters (including my mom who was little girl back then) this song every time he came home but with parody lyric which I think every Southerner Vietnamese knows: "Tò te.. con ve đánh đu, tarzan nhảy dù, zoro bắn súng! Chết cha, con ma nào đây, làm tao hết hồn, thằn lằn cụt đuôi". Later, he still played the guitar and taught my generation to sing this song with parody lyric. He passed away in 2009 from a serious illness when I was 17 years old. Today, December 31th 2022, about to enter the new year, I listen to this song and remember a lot about the past, about the loved ones who are no longer with me, and my hair is also starting to turn gray. So much nostalgia!
