She was the first gymnast that I remember, who stuck the double somersault in her last final pass every time she did it. It was amazing, because we were used to the 'step out' all these years and then this young Romanian gymnast simply did an 'upgrade'... and again... and again. Her Floor routine was really beautiful. The music, the choreography.... simply perfect.
Dobre and Silivas in '87 are for me all time favourites. Even if Silivas had a few mistakes I still like her more than in the olympics '88. For me '87 was the peak of evolution in gymnastics. :-)
Aurelia Dobre and Daniela Silivas were Romanian "Superstars" in the international gymnastics scene 1987 and 1988... but as a Shoushounova fan I have to say, the girls from the USSR were immaculate in what they did. I think both nations deserve our respect. They gave us so many highlights in that era and made the sport really special.
@@saramateiu4679 Like I said.... everyone deserves respect for their achievements. Some are more athletic than others. That's all I got to say about it. I loved Elena Shoushounova and always will. I am so grateful, that we were able to see this beautiful gymnast from the USSR and I also appreciate the stars from Romania. There is room to cherish for everyone. 💚
Somehow my tapes survived this long period of time - and still - sometimes I think, after uploading it on RU-vid it looses some of the clearance... and I always thought it would go the other way around. Anyway.... I am happy you liked it. 😏😎🥰
@@Boban1611 I love the choreography immediately after her second pass. It's such a shame in modern routines everyone takes time to salute after every tumbling pass, which makes the routine more choppy and less cohesive as a whole exercise. I wish they'd get rid of it, especially as I'm not even sure it's mandatory in the current code. The only salutes needed are at the start and end. Aurelia, not only was she doing two difficult passes in one line, but then immediately jumps into flexibility choreography in time with the music. Ah, how novel.
@@lampwick4427 I stopped watching the championships nowadays a long time ago. I enjoy watching those brilliant times of the past... like this routine of Aurelia Dobre. That was an awesome time. You got me 100 % on your side. 😏
Aurelia is and always will be my favorite gymnast. Grace, power, poise, too bad she had a hack job knee surgery before the 88 Olympics. She definitely would have been on the podium for the all-around if not the all-around champion.
I think she was the new star after the 1987 World Championships in Rotterdam and would have most likely won the All Around in Seoul. It was bad luck, that she was not at the peak of her performance, due to her prior injury. She would have been a serious contender for a couple of Gold Medals in 1988.
😢😢 I want women's gymnastics of the 70s and 80s to come back! Especially on floor! Hell, what these girls were able to do 💙🩷💫🙏🫶👍👍👍👍! Today? Well, difficult tumbling, but the rest is all the same and hardly ever matches the music. There is no "spark" that could go out to the viewers. Don't get me wrong: they all do a lot of training nowadays. But the results are no longer attractive. And that's the problem for ARTISTIC gymnastics... (personal point of view).
I agree 100 % Difficult tumbling on the mini trampoline, so called Floor.... in this time and age.... right! Artistic Gymnastics is gone and it was destroyed a long time ago. When I think of gymnasts like Bontas or Chusovitina (double layout with a full twist) - they did not need this mini trampoline. I miss and love those good old times. Those gymnasts went far and beyond their own limits. There are so many great gymnasts from the past and their lights are still shining brightly today....
@@Boban1611 Oh yes, so true! Think of the floor routines of Szabo, Omeliantchuk, Raducan, Boginskaya, Davydova (doing the Thomas summersault!), Izbasa, Podkopayeva, Yourtschenko, or Shaposhnikova, to name only some of them. My personal favourite though was the "Kalinka" of Naimuchina! It was perfect and so bubbly and entusiastically performed. What a pity that she turned an alcoholic later and passed away some years ago. But all the others are doing fine, as far as I know. Szabo got serious back problems after her career, but said herself that she had obviously been prone to these kind of difficulties and it wasn't due to doing gymnastics. But who does still remember Douglas or many others who came later? I'm glad that there seem to be many people who share my opinion - one of them being you! Thank you so much from Germany 👍💥🙏!
@@aspiethecat4475 Du hast sehr viele tolle Namen genannt und ich stimme Dir total zu. Oksana war einfach wundervoll in 1985. Ihre Bodenübung ist und bleibt unvergessen. Ich habe heute noch oft die Melodie in meinem Kopf und summe oder pfeife sie vor mich hin. Ich mochte aber auch Elena Shoushounova sehr. Es ist so schade, dass auch sie viel zu früh gehen musste. Es ist wundervoll, dass man so viele Fans der alten Zeit hier noch antrifft, die das wirkliche Kunstturnen noch zu schätzen wissen und sich die Stars der Vergangenheit noch ansehen möchten.
