Hypnagogia is a transitional state between wakefulness and sleep, where various unusual sensory and cognitive experiences can occur. This state happens when a person is falling asleep and is different from REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep and deep sleep.
During hypnagogia, it is common to experience visual, auditory, and tactile hallucinations. These can include vivid images, voices or sounds, and the sensation of someone touching you.
It is a stage that can stimulate creativity. Many people, including artists and scientists, have reported having creative ideas or solutions to problems during this period, as the mind can be in a highly suggestible state, receptive to thoughts and emotions, which can result in lucid dreams or mystical experiences.
