Pleasant surprise! You have so many stellar covers to look forward too. She makes all the songs her own and some of her covers are waaaaay better than the original. The Imagine Dragons cover is a gazillion times better than the original. The original is just obnoxious and annoying, but Aurora's version is just a completely different, magical song.

The song is called Teardrop. As a Massive Attack fan it was the first song I heard Aurora sing, which immediately introduced me to all her other songs as I spent that weekend listening to them all.

Theire are few of those cover that they did in the request of the radio station, having 1 hour or less to practice, that is why Sylvia got the lirics on her hand, so has Aurora on the piano, just a detail, Aurora doesn't read music, she memorise the melodie and goes with it...
Pretty darn good considering they had 1 hour to put this together. Silja (Celia) was holding the lyrics as she sang. Aurora had the lyrics on her piano. Yes, Silja did leave to persue her solo career. Aurora's covers on NRK P3 Live are all awesome. Thanks for this.
@@ashlenamusic She has released 5 albums, since 2014 - 2022😊 Even though I absolutely love her voice, and the harmonies between her and Aurora, but her music is not my cup of tea unfortunately. In the beginning of her career, 2012, she wrote an EP in English, her name then was Silja Dyngeland. After she changed her name to Silja Sol she has only written songs in Norwegian 😊
@@MotoKringles My guess is that's precisely why she chose to not sing that one lyric and instead sing "nananana." The actual lyric is "And I can tell that you know I know how I want it." Which is quite a tongue twister! Let alone when you have 1 hour to learn the entire song, AND you're also playing piano, AND English isn't even your native language. I bet it tripped her up enough times to where she was like, ok...creative decision: I'll just sing "nanana" and make it work!

I'm always so impressed by....her piano playing. I mean, first...just the fact she can play while also singing THAT well. That's just nuts. But her piano playing is so....effervescent. Delicate, restrained, yet also totally confident and assured. She plays it not just with her fingers, but her whole body. It's the opposite of trying to hard...she makes it look so effortless and smooth and light.
It's good to see you in a non Tuesday too :D What I've always loved about that cover is how she manages to play the keys and still make her usual hands gestures at the same time. I also love how passionate we Brazilian fans are :) They put a perfect translation to the song in the video
I haven't listened to much of Aurora's work, but she gives the feeling like she's tapped into an undercurrent of music that exists in the world's soul and she's just letting to flow out of her. It seems effortless and unconscious, but I'm sure it isn't. I don't know the original song but I would have believed that this was her song without question.
@@ashlenamusic I saw a reaction from a performance coach who wasn't familiar with Aurora. She was so impressed that Aurora could do both at the same time, that it was such a unique skill. I told her yeah, it's a skill, but honestly, she has no choice. If her hands are free, she's going to use them. It's not a conscious decision at all.
Great surprise❤ A new song was released YESTERDAY from the Netlix series "One Piece". Aurora feature the song "My Sails Are Set" Beautiful song you should listen to. She feature in many movies, games and TV series. Some of them are her own music too. Recent one is her own song "Hunting Shadows" for the game "Assassin’s Creed" Worth a listen.( Or maybe reaction?) It is said that two songs led to Aurora being discovered by her future management: 1- "Puppet", a song she made in a handful of hours in a rented small recording studio, song which was put in internet by a technician without her knowing it and can be found in her youtube channel. 2- And "I had a dream", a song that she wrote and she sang in front of people in her school at the end of school year, that has been recorded and put too in internet (without her knowing it too, I guess). I knew a video from a phone of around 1minute of the song, but not this recording, without film, of the entire song, raw with sounds of the audience in the background. Hah, the first word that came to me as I was listening was, “Gorgeous!” Aurora is so captivating to watch perform - I feel listening to her without a visual would feel less full somehow. But even without visuals her voice alone is mesmerizing.
Great cover and very cool surprise reaction - ok, I read your post on YT and know a little in advance about it :). Of course Aurora sing mainly her original songs but also has some great covers too :). I guess another thing to check in future:). Aurora has this ability to strip down song completely to the core and (re)build her version on it with her style or vision of the song :). As far i know this cover was made within a hour like usual with P3 covers. Also you noticed that she changed/removed part of lyrics as it does not fit to vibe of the cover: original is more sexualized and her cover is more innocent/angelic. I also like how she can not not expres with hands and playing keyboard in the same time :). I also agree about her band. She cooperated/cooperate with talented musicians. Unfortunately most of them currently are not present in her band. I especially miss Silja Sol and Magnus. Maybe also Odd Martin but he left before I even know who Aurora is (he left at the end of 2016 :) ).
I was late when it comes to Aurora as well, but I do love all the YT acoustic stuff I find with just her and Odd Martin on guitar/harmonies (sometimes with Magnus on cajon/harmonies). Like the Red bull Session or the NPR Tiny Desk Concert. One of my favorite covers of hers is the "La La La" cover from Radio Hamburg, with just her and Odd Martin.

Checked to see if you reacted to this after just watching her "Believer" cover. Yep, you got it. She makes the songs her own. When you have gone through Aurora's catalogue, there is a French singer, LYSSA, who was born to sing Aurora songs. Her voice is unique and incredible and like Aurora, she makes the songs her own. I'd recommend "Apple Tree" or "Secret Garden" which I actually prefer to the originals. Maybe next year, fingers crossed haha.

Sorry for the late reply but I had to fix and prepare so much for my today's trip to the Netherlands, to the free blues festival in Culemborg... your reaction was wonderful, as always. I hope you are digging this new Aurora rabbithole and dive into her big catalogue of cover songs. This one was a good start, although you already have heard three different covers of her, all in the Nidarosdomen concert (Nature boy, Walking in the air, Life on Mars). Next one for your Aurora cover song journey should be "Across the Universe", which is a Beatles cover ! If you don't know the original, I always recommend to listen to the original song first and then see what Aurora makes out of it. I already sent you a list of covers she has done so far, in the comments of one of your early Aurora reaction videos (can't remember which one it was)m so feel free to choose, they are all beautiful and unique... let's say "aurora-esque"... The backup singer you are referring to is Silja Sol. Her own stuff is in Norwegian so it may not seem so accessible to you. This is a cover she did of Shape of you.
