I was reading up on her. She experienced a family loss at the age of 11 on Christmas Eve and suffers from dysphasia which prompted her to learn sign language. She is literally speaking to us through her hand movements as well as her voice. So beautiful.
Every good musician can do that. I think this surprises people so much because we live in an age of cheap corporate excess. Record companies create stars, now. They don't search for them, anymore. Studio mastering can make a mediocre artist sound great, but it robs good musician's performances of some of their raw power. That's especially true of singers with voices as powerful and delicately emotive as hers. There will never be a substitute for the real thing. Once covid vaccines have made their way into the world, go see some live music.
@@andreasgoebel2666 Exactly. Compare her live performance for KEXP Icelandic Airwaves with her performance in the KEXP studio. There was an enthusiastic audience at Icelandic Airwaves and she was very energetic. There was cameramen and technicians at the KEXP studio, and her performance, to me, felt flat.
@@kufkzxkxzvkdvkxz The hilarious thing was that the original intention when Aurora was scooped up was to create a new Britney Spears clone twerking on a stage in skimpy clothing while singing other people's songs. When they found out she had a dance background they started salivating at the thought of having her dance suggestively with a bunch of sexy scantily-clad dancers. They didn't count on Aurora herself having a decidedly different idea of what she wanted to do.
I’ve seen her in Seattle, and would love to see her again in a facility with world-class acoustics, like the opera house that seats, what? 2500 people.
I can literally cry every single time I heard this song, but is not like sad cry, is more like "I can't believe how we're living and how we're so small in this world yet we're huge" like, this song makes me feel everything the universe wants me to feel, like how... I can't completely describe the feeling that Aurora puts in music.
This is one of the best live performances I have ever seen. You could hear a pin drop when the song finished. I wish I had been there, but at least I get to see it on here. Thanks for uploading this!! :)
I know, right? What kind of lunatic writes a song where the low note is a F#3 and the high note is a G5, a range of over two octaves? And pulls it off with ease?!
Wonderful capture of her exquisite performance. I'm sure I didn't exhale until the end. The audience was perfect, too - everyone captivated by "the breath".
It's a feeling growing old with time Like restless inner leaves coming down The world is a hole and we all seem to fall Down and down And the universe is growing tall And we're all caving into dreams of the space Unfolding her arms cannot do any harm Violent contractions And if there is a God, would we even know his name? And if there is a God, I think he would shake his head And turn away So belong to a soul Be God in the shape of a girl Who walks this world And I beg, I beg to be drained From the pain I've soaked myself in So I can stay okay And more than okay for a while For a while, for a while Infections of a different kind The world is being attacked by your pain If I'm the world then why would I hurt All that is living? And if there is a God, would he then believe in us? Ah ah And if there is a God, I think he can't hear all of us Belong to a soul Be God in the shape of a girl Who walks this world And I beg, I beg to be drained From the pain I've soaked myself in So I can stay okay And more than okay for a while For a while, for a while This is the breath, this is the breath ❤
This song has come to Aurora from Heaven because she gave it to us as a gift, here on earth. Then, up there in Heaven, this song will be the eternal medicine for our souls. 👸🧚♀️💎💙
I come back here often. It’s crazy how much this song means to me, and how many emotions appear within me when I hear it, especially the live versions. Thank you for posting this gem 🧡
