The angelic voice of Aurora singing about a complicated relationship in a dark, expressive and lyrically vibrant live performance from 2019. This song absolutely wrecked me inside!

Elizabeth, This note is just for you. I don't know what it is, but you are looking quite stunning recently. I certainly have always appreciated, first and foremost, your knowledge and all the amazing information that you are able to share concerning what a voice is actully doing, and what makes it do the things it does. But, aside from that, I been noticing that you yourself have blossomed and become so much more beautiful than I noticed before. Your openess, honestly and willingness to share your childlike enthusiasm with us certainly adds to your beauty, of the last there was never a doubt. But it just seems that your hair is more lustrous, your eyes more beautiful, your skin glowing and everything about you seems to be radiating in abundance recently. I don't know if it's the lighting, you've been meditating, doing yoga or I'm just falling under some kind of spell, but whatever it is, keep it up. All the best. A

I loved your latest Aurora reaction....for Exist for Love. If you love how cozy and warm and literally loving that song sounds....I hope you check out her collab with fellow Bergen native Sondre Lerche called Alone in the Night. They made a music video for it...and it's one of THE most soothing comforting gorgeous things I've ever heard. Much like Exist for Love in tone and timbre as well!

"Don´t you speak over "MY VOICE"". It is, as if she is demanding back a piece of her own ground, respect - demanding the attention she deserves. It´s like she is fighting back in that moment, just to lose a second later. It´s so deep and personal. I wish, I could get a glimpse in her mind. She is in her world - in her domain.

This, to me, is a masterpiece of counterpoint. The first time you hear it the imagery draws you in as if its a wonderful scene of gentle love. But then there are hints of something darker and on the last line it becomes clear something terrible happened and you need to go back over each line and piece it together. This is my interpretation: "Eyes blue and hollow" The eyes of a lover turned murderer trying not to have feelings or even be fully aware of what he is doing "As it rains against their will" But of course, he does know and he is crying "Feathers falling out of a pillow - As if time's standing still" Sounds so light and magical - an ultimate counterpoint to the violence of the reality. The violence that causes the feathers to come out of the pillow. But you don't question this at first. "I can't remember much more. But I know it happened quiet. So quiet " Trauma blanks out her consciousness but she knows he is being careful, secretive, trying to hide - even from himself. "Words falling out through the window. All that remains is a silent call. Is the earth colored red? As I land like a flower on the meadow. Love is wild " Again, as a counter point, using this distant or other worldly view of the violent scene to make it sound, at first hearing, like something beautiful is happening. But he threw her out of the window and she lands outside in her own blood. "You fell apart, Like a stone can be broken into sand, All thousand pieces* Spread across a crying land" Once he realized what he's done his sanity completely breaks down into tiny pieces. "And you can't remember that day. But you know it happened quiet. So quiet" So now he feels the trauma and blanks it out himself. *** Here the spooky singing - oooooo's announce the return of her spirit ** "Are your dreams as dead as they seem? Are your dreams as dead as they seem? " So now her voice, from out of death, asks him to face what he did, destroyed what he loved "Don't you speak over my voice. I will return from the shadows. And I'll bleed in your bed, Turn it red, Like the ground outside your window. Love is wild" She tells him not to try and talk or think his way out of it. Threatening to return from death and bleed right in his bed! Defining, with the last lines, what the red was outside his window and therefore what really happened that day.

I love that you picked up on that little shiver and the bouncing for comfort. She really does become completely immersed in the emotion of the story in her music. In fact, we regularly see her needing to 'shake it off' at the end of her more emotional songs like she needs to do it to come back from wherever it is she goes while she's performing. Aurora live is almost a spiritual experience! It must be time for another Aurora reaction? How about 'Through the eyes of a child' live at Nidarosdomen?

You have a new subscriber. It’s uncommon for reactors to have such a strong understanding of music theory and vocal technique, while noticing artistic subtlety and the meaning behind subtle choices in a performance. The “why” sometimes has nothing to do vocal technique or really performance in general...sometimes artist are able to fully expose their soul to let a song speak through them. This is Aurora..and I’m so glad you didn’t glaze over that like other reactors have, because that is her magic.✨❤️✨❤️

Finally. I have been waiting for this. While I think Runaway from the Nobel Price award show is great, it is not even in my top twenty. So I have been hoping you would get back to a more mature version of Aurora. The first video has the feel of a child being put on a stage to sing, but in this version you get to see Aurora at work at her craft and how much in control of her music she is. I think it is the best version for your purpose. While the Nidarosdomen version is a more emotional satisfying experience, I actually think you need to listen to at least three versions of her songs before you have heard it, since she always changes it up. Now, I only wish you wouldn't start you premieres on the exact minute I get off work, since I always arrive ten minutes late :)

Everything Aurora does is intricate and beautiful because she wants to infuse that beauty and purity into her music. She lives through her music and almost in reverse, her music lives through her. She’s a musician and an artist. Sometimes both at the same time and sometimes separate.

Somehow i wish Elizabeth some of the uplifting & funny moments from Aurora. She is a giant goofball in person, insanely funny and quirky beside being wise beyond her age. For that reason i love KEXP performance. Its a small room, camera close up, its wild and personal.

Wow! That was a great reaction! I particulary liked the body language explanation, I didn't even notice a lot. I came across Aurora through your "Runaway" reaction.. and then I watched a lot of videos of her. I looked for the best songs of Aurora... but they are all good... there is no bad song from Aurora... even the unreleased songs... like "Why did you have to go?" There is still so much to discover at Aurora... please grab one now and then... you won't be disappointed. Maybe an interview will come about... And last but not least, Aurora impresses with its almost unique authencity (see for example her live streams of these days); that's what makes she so lovable.

My Dad and I are hanging out again; my Mom had cancer and he was by her side so constantly, and while we spent time together, it often wasn't the kind... musical adoration we enjoyed. At the end, he was holding her hand or reading to her or putting lotion on her hands (they were always dry, she had trouble with that, but after she was put in hospice, I noticed her hands were perfectly smooth; it was one of the few things he could really do for her, so he did it thoroughly), and for weeks we were just waiting, knowing it was soon, hoping she wouldn't be in pain and discomfort for too much longer. Seeing the suffering was awful, and she sort of... faded away from us over time, so we couldn't really communicate well. It's been a bit over a month and my Dad and I are healing. It's hard, because we miss her, but we're relieved she's not suffering now. And, well, we missed each other as well. I'm moving across the country in a few years and we really want to use the time we have. I'm making these playlists of things to show him during his visits. Not necessarily music he'll like for its own sake, but for its technical prowess (Post-Modern Jukebox's Creep, Nightwish's Poet and the Pendulum -though I fangirl the heck out because Tuomas is ridiculously talented, SERIOUSLY), and I can't wait to show him. Some songs I hold back for days that he's in a good mental place, relatively speaking, and I tend to give backstory where I can. I think I'll troll him with Jinger's Pisces, though, lol. I'm happy that in addition to showing hm those songs, I can show him reactions like this. We're both singers; I went to nationals in my day and he was in a pretty successful chorus (they performed at the Biltmore quite frequently) for almost a decade, so we appreciate the technical side of things, and either finding out new things or loving someone else appreciating a speficic technique at a certain spot really is so satisfying. I suppose I typed all this to say, we've had a hard time, and are trying to sort of... get into this new normal, and it's helpful to us that music and music appreciation exists like this. The world is a better place for it, and our lives surely are. For me, with songs I've known for years, it gives me so much happiness to see someone experience it for the first time, and I almost recapture the ecstacy of falling in love with a gorgeous song for the first time. It can be hard to remember how it felt to discover these songs, and to see new love for them just charges me up! And whether it's something my Dad would listen to in his off time or not, it's nice to share these things I love with him and have discussions that wouldn't have happened otherwise. We've had so many difficult times lately, and in the next few weeks, I'm going to have a difficult medical procedure that's going to really be painful and kind of traumatic, so we're not out of the woods yet. But knowing it's to have a better future, one that involves kids for me and him finally having grandkids, it's worth it. Having a store of videos that make me happy and distract me, that inspire me, it's important. I'm glad these videos and this channel exists. It's really impacted my life, and will thrill my Dad, and give us some happy moments that, honestly, we really deserve at this point. It's pure serotonin, and I'm here for it.

I had to bring this video from another computer so I can hear it with better sound and headphones - I only discovered this lady today and your Analysis I was amazed that she was from Norway as when I first heard run away I thought she was Icelandic. Her voice is certainly something you need to listen to with your eye closed. I am not even sure I have even listened/understand to a word she sang - it is so mesmerizing I am not sure I want to understand, I listen to so much folk music from around the world I hear mainly the voice. The Flower duet is something I listen to almost every week so I am with you with that but I am no expert at music, but I will have to listen to all her studio music. Very impressed, thank you
