Message: One more Aurora piano cover, too good not to share. Just her and the piano, tricky song to pull off solo given the sparse melody. Unique arrangement (but when is it not?) and it's clear she loves the story. She even performs it on a vintage, period-correct Rhodes piano too, gotta think Bowie would be proud of her whole vibe. I grew up with the Duke's music, Bowie is a genius artist of our times, and this is a particular song I always liked. And then comes Aurora again and makes the song hers, she's such an amazing story teller and I always think about David when I listen to the song and my mind pictures David going nuts on Aurora's version of his song and hugging the Sweet Viking Fairy Queen.....dunno

The original will always be the original, and it is truly a masterpiece. Auroras version is very pretty, but so different that comparing the two would not be fair for either version. I think Bowie would have loved it. It is possible (although not likely) that he got to hear it before he died, as it was a part of her regular set list more than a year before his death.

Nice reaction! I love Aurora's cover of this song. When she performed it live at Nidarosdomen she said "This is a really, really beautiful song. It's not mine, but I wish it was. Perhaps, in a way, it's everyone's song". She's so respectful of the songs she covers. Love her version. I prefer the one at Nidarsdomen or Howard Stern show, but this one is excellent as well. Check out the other two on your own time. Every Aurora performance is special and unique. As one reactor put it, every performance is a special edition . I know this may be an unpopular opinion, but I did not like Bowie's version of this song. I liked Bowie, but was never a fan of this song until I heard Aurora do it.

I was a 16 year old when the Bowie album came out and Aurora does a very fine delicate job of this song, I enjoyed this

All by myself. By Eric Carmen and Covered by Celine Dion. Is that the song you're thinking about? Because I I kinda get that. The really slow piano that builds up a a crescendo and then drops again to a really slow sad mournful pace

this is a difficult song to sing so we can't be too choosy she did good but I think she has a feeble voice in comparison with Bowie delivery.

As awesome as this version is, I think the Howard Stern Show and Nidarosdomen versions are even better. I think she gets more emotional when she doesn't have to play at the same time.
