Nice reaction 😊👍Aurora started writing melodies at the age of 6 and added lyrics at the age of 9, and all in secret from every one, even her family. So the start was'nt directly nurtured, but her mom was the one that told her that her music should be shared. So nurtured through having a suporting loving family. She was'nt discovered until her mid teens. Check out her performance of "Lucky" (written at age 9, live in Nidarosdomen)

This is art, off course, and everybody read into it what they want. To me, its about mercy killing. A person, or, even more likely, a beloved animal, being put out of their pain. I dont even understands how she dares to openly sing about such a... painful experience. This girl.. oh man.. she is a shaman. She can alter space and time and minds, with her voice. She sings where nobody has ever sung before.

The guy next to her is Ole Martin Skålnes.. co-composer of the song.. He`s also the producer for a big part of her catalogue.. Good reaction.. thumb up.

You were rights about age when she wrote some of her songs (Runaway at age of 11). And yes she write her songs (also co-produce them). But she learned everything by herself (making music, singing and playing piano). She is like a natural artist :). Even her parents did not know she making music (at last for some time not sure when exactly they learned). Also she did not want to be a artist just to make music for herself. But she was discovered by a change (someone leaked her song on internet - I know she performed on the end of school and also she recorded song for her parents as a gift as she did not wanted to perform it when they watch and these 2 or one of them was leaked). But she said "no" for proposition to become a artist but her mother said it would be selfish to not share and emotions with others. BTW: I love also how expressive she is and "in the song". Ps. She is also introvert and it was not easy for her to perform, especially in first years. She even talked about in in interviews.

Aurora writes and co-produces all her own music and productions since she was a teenager. She’s very protective of her art and uncompromising at such a young age.

Because of the way she looks and how she moves while she’s singing I think of her as a fairy. I think it’s appropriate.

Aurora is a prodigy, because she started playing piano at 6 years old learning all by herself, and started adding lyrics at age 9 in English which is her 2nd language. The song "Lucky" was one of her first songs and she wrote part of it and the chorus at age 9, and finished it later at age 18. She played all by herself and her family did not learn about it until later around age 13-14, when she sang for them. She only wanted to be a songwriter maybe for other artists, she never wanted to be a singer and sing in public, until her mother convinced her to share her gift and her songs with the world. So she was scared when performing the first 2 years also in this performance with 8000 people live in the hall as well as live tv, so she "escapes" the scary situation by completely immersing herself in the music. Later she learned to enjoy performing and interacting with the audience.

And interacts, she does. She is so funny with her total free spirit and purity on stage. "All parents should bring their children out in the forest and... leave them there!" It sounds horrible but she meant it in a good way because she loved her solitude in forests as a very young girl.

Another awesome reaction from you two, thanks! Can you guess who cried buckets full of tears the first time I watched this performance? It must be the months of darkness that lie upon Norway and Finnland which causes this melotragical creativity. I am drawn to it and so are you as it seems.

So glad you returned to her music! And yes you guys are right, she is not one to try to fit in. She does her own thing and doesn’t worry about what people think of her. Check out “all soft inside” or “churchyard” from KEXP Iceland.

Aurora was slightly younger in the "Runaway" clip you watched (18). She was 19 at the Nobel Peace Prize concert and she turns 26 today (16/6/2022). Aurora writes her own material, quite brilliantly, as you have noted but she has also done some fantastic covers of other artist's songs (Leonard Cohen, The Beatles, David Bowie, Oasis, Bob Dylan, just to name a few). This is performance is exceptional from Aurora, however she is even more impressive and magical at her Nidarosdomen (Trondheim Cathedral) concert of 2017 and the HAIK concert of 2019 (filmed in the forest where Aurora played in her childhood). The very special aspect of watching Aurora perform, is that once you have experienced it you can't get enough. Keep going on your Aurora journey, it is time very well spent. PS The guitarist is Odd Martin Skalnes, he has written songs with Aurora, has produced some of her albums but he is no longer part of her backing group.

Hello, great reaction again. Thank you. She will pull you into every song and captivate you. I saw it. She caught you. You said that AURORA does her own thing and doesn't conform to the mainstream. You're right. See also the bottom quote from AURORA. This is probably the saddest love song I've ever heard. A man shoots his wife to end her suffering. Can love be bigger and more painful at the same time than in this story? AURORA manages to make this pain palpable with her voice and her movements. You have seen AURORA's eyes. She wasn't on stage. She was somewhere else. You saw how deeply she was thinking about these two people, that she sometimes shook herself uncontrollably. I believe that she is not conscious of her movements. She's so into the story in her head that she's doing the moves in the story. I heard that AURORA was horrified by these movements when she saw the recording of the performance. That means for me that she did it unconsciously. Her empathy must be beyond measure. She spreads all her feelings that she has in this moment in front of us and lets us look into her heart and soul. There is no other way I can explain that almost everyone who saw this performance was affected by this story. AURORA is more than a storyteller, more than a singer. AURORA is a true artist. This is from an interview with Aurora: "First of all, I have a really vivid imagination. You know that these things may be happening to someone right now. It's kind of a terrifying thought. I just had to get that thought out of my head - and that's why I wrote this song. But the two characters are actually just made up in my head. I've written many songs about them - maybe I'll make a book with them." And in another interview: It’s just fascinating that some people can have in them the desire to kill while some people cannot pick a flower without feeling bad. That's about this I wrote 'Murder Song'. How can a man kill someone he loves and it happens often in the world. But he doesn't really understand what he did, it's a very complicated story. Her, she didn't want to be in this world anymore, and she knew that this man would do anything for her. She asks him to kill her and he said: 'Ok, I love you, I would do anything for you.' After he killed her, he became sad because she didn't move anymore and he didn't understand where she went. He didn't understand why she left and he start crying. And it is sad, because for the rest of his life, he will not understand and he will be sad." --- Quotes from AURORA: Interviewer: You always dream about becoming a singer-songwriter, a pop star or did it just come up to you like a dream? AURORA: Well yeah, well I never wanted to be a pop star. I never wanted to stand on stage. That was not my dream. I never dreamed of it and I didn't really think about it that much I just needed to write songs to you know for my own sake. But then my mother told me that I should share these songs and so I did. And now I'm here. So no, I didn't plan to be in front of a band or something like that. --- I think it just make sense to be nice to everything that lives. It's kind of like we're all one body or like one mind but just split up in a thousand people. We are kind of like, if I hurt you then I hurt myself. If you are in pain then I am in pain because we're kind of one because we have one thing in common which is a life. You know, so it just makes sense doesn't it. --- I think it is so strange that we are all biologically designed to be these perfect individual unique beings, but still the world we live in are continuously shaming us for being unique and different …. and it doesn’t make any sense to me. That’s why I think I've never feared being who I am and loving who I am and you should do the same, because it doesn’t matter what the world thinks. - The world is out of its mind! Have a nice day and Greetings from Germany

Great reaction 🤗 In an interview, Aurora was asked if the song was inspired by an experience she lived, she said: "I just think it's fascinating how people can be the same people, how you and I need oxygen, can have children, need to be embraced, we need food, water, that we smile at us... we need the same things because we are people. And it's just fascinating that some people can have in them the desire to kill while some people cannot pick a flower without feeling bad. That's about this I wrote 'Murder Song'. How can a man kill someone he loves and it happens often in the world. But he doesn't really understand what he did, it's a very complicated story. Her, she didn't want to be in this world anymore, and she knew that this man would do anything for her. She asks him to kill her and he said : 'Ok, I love you, I would do anything for you.' After he killed her, he became sad because she didn't move anymore and he didn't understand where she went. He didn't understand why she left and he start crying. And it is sad, because for the rest of his life, he will not understand and he will be sad." In another interview, she said: "First of all, I have a really vivid imagination. You know that these things may be happening to someone right now. It's kind of a terrifying thought. I just had to get that thought out of my head - and that's why I wrote this song. But the two characters are actually just made up in my head. I've written many songs about them - maybe I'll make a book with them." Aurora actually didn’t want to be an artist, but her mom convinced her to share her music. And she was satisfied with a small audience. She was nervous before this performance, but she’s not seeing the huge crowd because she’s so into the song Since you have a list with songs I will not recommend any songs, today 😊 Looking forward to your next Aurora reaction 😃 ✌️🌍💚
