This sounds like a song a mother would sing to her children as they huddled in the forest, on the run from something. Just quiet enough to be sad, but with enough life to keep a child from getting too worried
Makes its sound like a medieval song that a traveling musician would play so that everyone who cant read, still knows the mythical figures of history. I like it. Edit: Yes guys, i know its called a bard.
Most people who cover this song seem to focus more on the rhythm, and jaunt through as if the lyrics are an afterthought. Aurora pulls meaning from every word.
@@krollpeterYour account is probably bait, but if you comment again, be constructive. Don't be so rude and tell why they are bad. Plus, even if they were 'bad' they sound very good and pleasant to the ear here, and there's a lot of intonation. The backing vocals are great too
I can see his pushing even more than before and loving it! I'm personally digging into their new guitarist as well, he got so much umami in him. EXCITED for their new chapter!
Not kidding, my sorrow at Silja leaving was _more_ than made up the moment I realized it's Magnus backing her up in this song. (No offence Silja, love you, hope you have a great solo career) Magnus is practically her big bro, now he's proven himself more than competent for the new job. I really can't wait for the world tour!!!
Since she has a rather thin voice she and her crew probably know it's best to support her with harmonies to thicken up the sound. She always does this and it's great
One of the best covers I've ever heard, completely recognizable and yet somehow an entirely new song. And she's giving some cranberry vibes during that breakdown too.
Ok, I'm convinced that any song that gets into Aurora's hands, with her authentic touch, becomes more than just spiritual. Wow, for me it's literally a trip to another world
Her hands and facial expressions draw you further in then what you were expecting. Beutiful talent wich I enjoy each time I hear her, no matter the song. Just a pure pleasure to listen and follow thru the story
I used to listen to this song regularly with a bunch of college friends that ended up not being friends anymore... For a while after, it hurt to hear this song because I would think of the good times we had and how they were gone now. I would have never expected one of my favorite artists to cover this song and turn it into something so ethereal and light. It sounds crazy, but it felt like Aurora was almost begging me to come back to the song and learn to enjoy it again, but in a different way. I guess what I'm trying to say is, don't permanently cut off a song you used to enjoy because of other people ruining it for you.
omg!! i feel exactly the same as you, it happened to me the same, i used to listened to this song so much, and it brings me so much nostalgic about that moment of my life, and i stopped listen it, when i saw that she made a cover i was like no wayyyyyyy, and i love it and i just went back to listen the original song to just enjoy it and forget about the sad things and only to remember the happines that it gave me in the moment.
@@susy4511 thanks for sharing your story. It helps to know that you're not alone and shared experiences, good or bad, help to confirm that. I think I made sense 😅💜
It’s incredible how her voice always sounds beautiful and it makes almost every song enjoyable. I mean, I already like this song, but I thought that an Aurora cover would have never worked, it surprisingly works.
The song is about Grigori Rasputin who was feared he was considered a mystic and self-proclaimed holy man who befriended the family of Nicholas II , the Russian people turned against him, he was known for his sexual relationships with woman and being drunk , he was killed by Assassins ( died December 1916 (aged 47)
I love her voice, but opposite to it, i think there was a period she overworked it and before this period she has more precise voice. Of course hope i am wrong and I hope she is careful with her voice. But no matter if it was before or now she has great voice and she is a music genius. Love her music and her personality too :). This cover is so great:).
Former voice major here. The human voice is the last part of the body to physically mature, usually between 25-27 years of age. I think she's just about reached that age, so as her voice matures, it's going to get better and better as long as she is taking time to rest and use proper techniques that support proper voice function
I was super hesitant to click on this, because i thought that the song wouldn't fit her style... So glad i finally did, it's a completely different vibe but it's so magical, makes Rasputin sound a bit more innocent. (Oh, and who is the backup singer? He's so good, his voice fits perfectly)
My god she is absolutely amazing. Her singing and talent is as beautiful as is her name written in the lights of the norther skies. She is among the stars.
As usual her outfit is on point, her voice is like no other and her curious hand movements get me further into the mood. She truly is exceptional in every single way possible 🤩
I imagine Aurora’s dream-like voice being the force of the tide. Nothing so loud and noisy as the waves, but the seismic intensity of pulling billions of billions of gallons of water from one end of the earth to the other. A mover of mountains, a nearly intangible force.
There lived a man in Russia long ago He was big and strong, in his eyes a flaming glow Most people look at him with terror and with fear But to Moscow chicks he was such a lovely dear He could preach the Bible like a preacher Full of ecstasy and fire But he also was the kind of teacher Women would desire RA RA RASPUTIN Lover of the Russian queen There was a cat that really was gone RA RA RASPUTIN Russia's greatest love machine It was a shame how he carried on "This man's just got to go", declared his enemies But the ladies begged, "Don't you try to do it, please" No doubt this Rasputin had lots of hidden charms Though he was a brute, they just fell into his arms For the queen he was no wheeler dealer Though she'd heard the things he'd done She believed he was a holy healer Who would heal her son RA RA RASPUTIN Lover of the Russian queen There was a cat that really was gone RA RA RASPUTIN Russia's greatest love machine It was a shame how he carried on RA RA RASPUTIN Lover of the Russian queen There was a cat that really was gone RA RA RASPUTIN Russia's greatest love machine It was a shame how he carried on RA RA RASPUTIN Lover of the Russian queen It was a shame how he carried on
Holy shoot. I thought I’d hate this.. I’ve been a Bony M fan since I was a small child thanks to my parents. I hate the new remixed “Rasputin” techno version and I got tense when I seen this cover but thought I should give it a chance and boy I’m glad I did! I’ll be showing my mum this tomorrow, I already know she’ll love it.. Your voice is liquid gold
@@xndrlmao now we both make as much sense as each other and both get to walk away feeling better than someone else for absolutely no reason 👍 yay for us!
Forgive my ignorance, as I don't know this song, but I can't help but imagine this being in The Witcher. Sounds great! *UPDATE* I've spent the past three weeks obsessing over Aurora, so I have this video to thank for that. lol *2023 UPDATE* Very much still obsessed. lol Saw her live last year and it was incredible. Highly recommend seeing her live if you can!
I came thinking this song couldn't be better I left realizing Aurora is a true artist. She understands and embodies music in a way that's true to her and I love it.
It seems Aurora checked the songs text before started, so may be this was another cover made on the spot during an hour before broadcast. Wonderfull done performence :)
@@ivyferrer3796 I wouldn't even listen to that song if she wasn't singing it. And I'd never heard of this song so I watched the original first before I watched this one and I really like this one much more! But I could be a little bit biased lol
@@frogsoda yess i understand ❤️ but my parents grew up listening to Boney M and thus me and my sister love their songs too and when Aurora sang it, it was really unexpected and a very beautiful moment for me❤️
wow.... you can't ever tell if it's a live or the produced version unless you look at the title.. now that's incredibly precious talent that I am thankful and blessed to just hear her voice.
Feels like I'm in medieval time, riding a horse wearing dresses and corsets and fleeing from my palace to get to my lover. I don't why but this is completely my vibe my aesthetic .. Aurora you're my angel!
Artists are regularly invited to NRK P3 to play one original song as well as a cover that NRK P3 chooses, the artists get to know which song they will cover an hour before broadcast. Considering the short time to practice, the result is absolutely brilliant
aurora and the band really said "we stayed on tiktok to much and we can't get this song out of our heads... let's make a cover" and they did it so well, in their amazing style, and aurora as always gave us the best vocals ever. out of a meme of a song. lovely
im such a fan of the original song, i love it and i used to listen it a lot, it gave so much happiness and i wanted to dance everytime i heard it, but this cover its just so freaking good and so different to the song like she put her mark and gave it her style and essence and i love it!!! Aurora its a huge piece of art and im so glad people are recognizing her
Stunning Cover, and as a garment technician I'm 99.9% sure that dress is on backward. She probably liked the more conservative coverage rather than the plunging neck line she switched to the back :)
That's so AURORA! This is her funny quirkiness at its best. Nobody else but her would decide to wear the same beautiful dress both the normal way or backwards.
I wrote a very negative comment earlier, not realizing that this is an improvisation and a task that she had to resolve in a short time. That changes everything. Given the circumstances I think she made a great job. I apologize for my earlier criticism.
@@AuroraMusic It must have been a challenge for you, it´s a very bold song. At least the original - which I happened to be listening to just a couple of days ago. But I guess that´s the point of covers, that the interpretation is different.

song of my childhood... incredibly covered - tender, colorful voice. Aurora, you turned this song into masterpiece and I believe Frank Farian would agreed as well. Thanks Aurora!
