This album is insane!!!! The trio of starvation, the blade and my body is not mine is like all the frustration she was brooding over through the start/middle of the album boiled over. Absolutely incredible.

The tracks My Name and My Body Is Not Mine were partly produced by Tom Rowlands of The Chemical Brothers. They are the reason I found AURORA, through their album No Geography which has 3 songs with her vocals. I love it whenever they collab👏🏻👏🏻🔥
Aurora is definitely channeling her inner Björk and Kate Bush with these otherworldly vocal inflections and ambitious production. I definitely think this is her best album, because she’s using her abilities to the fullest.
I think you nailed the feelings behind "The blade". At least that's a feeling that resonates a lot with me, growing older I lost the person I was in my twenties, and now I'm angry to see what life did to me while I was trying to just exist and be happy. I am working on it. Sometimes anger is a lifesaver, but getting stuck in it is not good for anybody. Those angry, raw, techno tracks are so cathartic. Much needed in today's reality.
so glad you reacted to this album I love it sm I think it’s her best work so far tbh the production is insane and her vocals were so different on some songs I love it 😭❤️felt like a whole journey I can’t even pick favorites but I will say it’s a album I very much needed rn in my early 20s
This is an AMAZING Album, she really went in a different direction I was expecting but it works so well. I think she might make an acoustic version of My Name, the lyrics sound like they would a fit a more chill vibe! I’m so happy with this Baby. Also I have a sorry for the second half of the album! After Dreams, you can clearly hear a shift in the vibe of the music and story. My hypothesis is that you are transported into a dream where you realize how crypted the world is and the way we treat our hearts, once we get to invisible wounds, we wake up and finally understand the pain we are causing and the wounds we are creating that are often invisible
Great reaction! I absolutely love this album, it's so cathartic and powerful. I want to dance, cry, scream and smile all at the same time. I also love that she has credited The Earth to support EarthPercent 💙
I'm so conflicted lol In one hand, I think is the most amazing work she's done in production, amaizing songs, perfect album, but on the other hand, I feel is the worst one she's released lmao I've been a fan for a really long time, and the other 4 albums just sound better for me, more cohesive. I love this new direction she went with this album, and again, i enjoy it so much lol I don't know what to think... her best work yet or her worst??? So conflicting... Either way i love every album of her
@@Julian.Romero13 I get what you're saying! There are a couple songs here that doesn't make me go WOW for example. But for me, if I go back to "The gods we can touch", that album had a lot of songs I never listened to after the initial listen. "The innocent", " A temporary high", "artemis", "this could be a dream", "A little place called the moon". I'm not a big fan of either of those songs from her previous album. To me I think this is her strongest album yet. "Infections of a different kind step 1" and "A different kind of human step 2" has a lot of fantastic songs for sure so I'm kinda torn there! It's also hard to judge cause some of it is a mix of nostalgia and her amazing live performances! EDIT: Okay after listening to it again I don't know how I feel lol
@@arctic-1878 ikr? My opinion keeps changing lol, now I think is her most complete and powerful album. My favs are Step I & II, but you're right, nostalgia has a lot to do with it. Even if I liked The Gods We Can Touch, I always skip "A Temporary High" lol since the album came out, I've always thought that is her worst song ever but it's ok. All My Demons is a classic, perfect album as well. Anyway, she keeps getting better, this tour is gonna be so crazy
I really must say, this reaction stands out to me because I can see how much you have opened yourself up to new sounds over the last few years. I remember a time when you didn't understand a lot of electronic music, or songs that were a bit on the odd side, but I can see how much your musical knowledge has grown and how much more open you are to new things. And I mean that as the highest compliment. I feel like I've watched you grow as a listener and reactor. I'm happy to be here listening with you Benn! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
Omg 😭 What an amazing comment and compliment! Thank you!!! I love that you’ve been her for so long and noticed things about me that I havent even haha! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Made my day! Thank you!!!
@@bennshouts Of course, Benn! I really appreciate the fact that you react to the best albums immediately. And when you look back at reactions like some of the Arca albums, it becomes really obvious how much your musical taste has grown. Even if you don't love something, you can see how you have grown to appreciate small elements of songs and albums, rather than needing to love the whole thing.
The album leaves us no time to break. It's fun, the different genres traveled are unique to each other without any repetitions. Aurora keeps us until the last track, sweating.
Glad you wasted no time with this one, once again! You are always the first to react to my favorites and I really enjoy watching your reactions. ❤ This album is so incredibly different but welcome. The first 7 songs make me bawl my eyes out. The second half of the album is such a surprise, and in the best way. I wasn't expecting her to range from 80's metal, to rock, to straight techno, to 90's pop, and even 80's synthpop. I really love this album. More than I even expected to, and I'm a ride or die for AURORA.🫀🫀🫀 Echo of My Shadow, To be Alright, The Essence, and Invisible Wounds are my favorites, but I really love some of the more unexpected songs too. The emotion in her voice in Invisible Wounds....my god. I'm surprised I'm still a whole person. It's hard to hear Aurora so sad when she brings all of us so much joy.
thanks for your comprehensive reaction, i enjoyed your engagement. i just learned that the first and the last song got written at the same day, the alpha and omega of the album, so to say.
I LOVED the album! 🫀💙 AURORA is my favorite artist! She will come to Brazil to do a show in November and I got the tickets! I can't believe I'm finally going to her show and see her in person! 😭😭😭😭😭 I hope we can talk & take pictures with her after the show, this would be a DREAM come true! 🥹🥹🥹 Also, loved your react! 💛
I feel like she’s referencing a lot about the war. My body is not mine… I think is suppose to be at the end, where you can’t understand what she’s saying fully… she’s fired up, ceasefire now! Ceasefire. It’s like that sound that can be either green needle or brainstorm? Anyway, this album may be my favorite. I was in love with the steps, but this touches me so deeply. We will see in the coming months where it ends up placing
Also, dreams… “I've needed so much With nothing to touch Floating from Earth Another bridge burned A mother concerned Come back to the world” The coldness of someone taking someone’s life. Somebody’s daughter. Needing so much, having love and having it ripped away for the sake of ego and destruction. Absolutely brilliant.
i was about to comment "wow how did you manage to listen to this album without crying" and then some type of skin came in this album is so insane like first ur dancing and then ur crying and then you do both at the same time and then you start jumping and idk do a freaking mosh pit or something also a soul with no king is the song ever no song has ever described my spirituality so well oh my god its amazing i want to dance under moonlight to this btw since you said you didnt know what was it about, i think a soul with no king is about nature as an entity speaking to mankind
I love how she can be so original and at the same time keep her identity, so fresh! "Do you feel" blow my mind, i can't not dance. An Dreams make me cry everytime 💙 Thanks to share with us your reaction!
I love this album more and more. You should also hear a Soul With No King Remix. Remix (which was released first) and this original are both totally amazing for me :). For sure When The Dark Dresses Lightly is my another new obsession. Generally very strong and so unique album - so different from previous (and i said the same for The Gods We Can touch it means she did it again - always like a new Aurora :)). The part I do not like so much is only techno part in Starvation (at first listen I did not liked song because of it) but rest and very strong official video adding 'flavor' to the song :) Thx for this cool album reaction!
