Thanks Steve, we were a little worried that the detail and resulting video length would cause people to lose interest in watching, but feedback on previous detailed setup/packup videos gave us the confidence that there were people that appreciate the details. Take your time, it doesn’t matter how long it takes you the first time, once you’ve understood the process, you’ll put up parts or all of the annex as and when you need. Sometimes we just put up an end wall as a wind break and leave the other two sides open, quite often, we put up the anti flap kit and triangle panels when we extend the awning. That way if the weather changes, we can quickly zip in the walls at short notice if we see a weather change coming in. It’s all a learning process and we all camp differently, so feel free to take the ideas and adapt them to your own style of camping. Come and say hi if our paths cross on the road. 🍻
@@tonylander3512 it’s pretty easy once you’ve done it a few times. Also much easier once you upgrade to the Aussie Traveller Anti Flap Kit (see our video on that). We don’t bother with the annex for overnight or weekend trips (sometimes put one wall up as a wind break) but if we are staying somewhere for a few days or more, then the annex can be a huge bonus in poor weather. We are currently living in our van while we are organising a new home build and wouldn’t want to be without the extra weatherproof space 👍 It takes me about 20 minutes to complete the whole skirt and annex on my own.
Hi Craig and Annette, loving your videos, very well presented! What are the awning pole tensioners you have, the orange elastic cords? Can't seem to find them anywhere, they look a lot more flexible than a standard ratchet strap. Many thanks, look forward to seeing more.
Hi Peter, thanks for your kind words. The ones we used in the video are from TieGear. They are pretty good but we’ve had a couple of breakages and find them a bit fiddly to tension and release (definitely a two hand job for both tensioning and releasing. We’re hoping to have an even better solution in the near future
Hi Simon, yes we are enjoying it more, we have done a few overnight stops on our current trip and it is much less work to setup and pack up. We also enjoy being able to access the inside without having to set up completely and being able to stop along the way, open the kitchen and make a coffee or cook lunch, do dishes then close and carry on without doing water/gas/drain connections.
@@AusCamping LOL, I'm slowly getting my head and hands around the OP2 set-up and pack-down but we certainly won't be pulling over for a quick coffee. Bravo to you both for the new set-up.
As we said in the video, we will most likely upgrade the standard anti flap bars to the Aussie Traveler brand. aussietraveller.com.au/products/anti-flap-kit-afk
Hi Craig and Annette, loved the video so well put together, have you upgraded to the Aussie traveller AFK, as I have a question regarding the sail rail, is it comparable with the annex as we have a PX3 and the sail rail rope is smaller on the one that goes through the AFK!
@@markzammit9346 Thanks for watching, yes we upgraded to the Aussie Traveler Anti Flap Kit. You do need to get the canvas modified but that turned out to be pretty simple. Have a look at this video where we explain what we did and demonstrate how easy the new bars are to install. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ERRSDSIPkWo.html
