MAAAAAAAAAATE!! You did a bloody ripper of a job with the Aussie Burger!! Personally, I'd have more mayo and sauce than that, but you nailed the fundamentals!!
Thank you! Yeah seems like I am most of the way there with my Aussie Burger! A few minor tweaks on the sauce or amount of sauce and I think I'll be there!
Mate, you did Australia justice! Maybe next time instead of tomato sauce, use BBQ sauce instead (of course that's opinionated) but otherwise I can't fault it! Massive thumbs up and keep up the good work!
Love it! Great to hear a thumbs up from an Aussie. I have gotten a few suggestions to try this again with BBQ sauce. I have nothing against a good BBQ sauce so I'll have to do that next time I decide to whip up one of these monsters!
Glad to hear from you and other Aussies who say this is pretty close to spot on! For this year's Australia Day I may have a re-shoot and make these tweaks to make it even more authentic! Thanks for watching!
Hi from Sydney. I discovered your channel yesterday and watched a few vids. Well done. BTW, the pineapple is usually grilled, and despite the caramelisation, it knocks some of the sweetness down. Beeetroot absolute must. My friend from San Deigo has been to Oz numerous times and loves the burgers here. I'll came back later with some other comments about the Weber Q - I cannot remember my model number. It is the best BBQ that I have owned.
Hi Peter, thanks for watching from Australia! Glad to hear that this one was pretty close to replicating how you folks do it there. I rather enjoyed this burger. I'll try it with grilled pineapple next time!
@@ChicagoGriller Definately grill the pineapple. It brings out the sweetness and will take it to the next level. All the same a great interpretation of our LOT / Works burger.
The most fun part with making an Aussie burger is in the fact that the way you stack the ingredients somehow slightly alters the flavour. Don't ask me how, but it does. Personally, I use Barbecue sauce instead of tomato sauce or ketchup, aioli in place of mayonnaise and I always make sure the egg yolk is runny to the point where the burger becomes really messy but it just makes it that much better. Salt and pepper on the salad as well unless the patty is really seasoned. From what I have seen, the preferences with this burger change from state to state and they even have their own slightly different version in New Zealand as well. Overall, if you (Talkin' to you 'Muricans) want your burger to only be meat, cheese, pickles, onions, ketchup and mustard, you are totally missing out.
A magnificent Aussie Burger With The Lot Jerry I salute you Sir it looks delicious and simply perfect. There's nothing better than a good old hamburger with the lot...Except for maybe a good old Aussie Steak Sanga (sandwich) of course!!! Awesome cooking I LOVE it!!!
Awesome, thanks for the endorsement. I went to Google "Aussie Steak Sandwich" and your video came up. Looks like I may be drawing inspiration on that one for this year's Aussie Day!
I live in Australia and love all 3 of my Weber models. Throughly enjoy watching your videos and try all your recipes. In my opinion a burger isn't a burger unless you add beetroot. Yum
Great vid and greetings from Oz!! Found your channel whilst waiting in keen anticipating for my Weber Q 3200 (...coming in three weeks to celebrate my 50th!). Pineapple and beetroot would have to be two of the most polarising ingredients on anyone's burger list...for me...beetroot all the way!! Just cuts through the richness of the meat - yum. The pineapple you can leave in the tin (and let's not even start on whether it belongs on pizza...). All the best!
Congrats on the Q3200! To be honest I've been eyeing one myself (I think if I had a Q1200 and a Q3200 that would be the perfect combo). I agree, the beetroot does complement the burger a lot better than I expected. Thanks for commenting and watching! Cheers!
The burger looks great, but we generally use just natural sliced beetroot, not pickled. Also, there are large sections of Australians that detest pineapple on burgers. :) Next year you should investigate the "Bunnings sausage sizzle" aka Democracy Sausages on our election days.
Hey Cameron, really appreciate the Aussie feedback. Interesting, the natural beetroot actually would have been much easier for me to find (I was lucky and just happened to see it in ALDI one day). Pineapple is a bit "controversial" on burgers here too lol. All in all I did enjoy this burger. I've heard about the Democracy Sausages but wasn't sure when the next election was. It will be added to the list!
It's really useful to have both the griddle and the grill next to each other! I want the charcoal version of this setup! The burger looks great, that should be my breakfast! I'm totally ok with the beets but no pineapple :)
And stay tuned I have a real treat come spring. I did get my hands on a Char Q off of FB Marketplace. But I have to wait til spring to be able to clean it and restore it!
Slamming burger Jerry! Pile it up like a tower and dive on in..lol...beet and pineapple 🤔 seen it a few times now...I gotta try this..👍 thanks for sharing brother, have yourself a great one, you all stay safe!👍👊🍻
Much appreciated Craig! Haha yeah any higher I would have had to knife and fork it. Wasn't sure about the beets either, but it did work! Thanks for watching!
The pineapple is unusual, but not offensive. But yeah the pickled beets lost me. But everything did go very well together. Hope all’s well. Thanks for visiting!
Beetroot is a staple on our burgers out here more so on our good old style takeaway's. For me to get a burger and they left the beetroot off I wouldn't go back. Good job on the burger.
Excellent, you nailed the Aussie Works burger, as we Aussies call it… thanks for sharing how to cook it on the Weber Q, I just bought my Weber Family Q and your tutorial videos and recipes are great, Aussie works burgers are next on my list for my family dinner.
Awesome! Thanks for the Aussie endorsement! I don’t have direct experience with the Family Q but I believe all the times and temps across the entire line of Weber Q is roughly the same. Hope this burger turns out well for you!
Mate just saw your channel today, great effort, the only way to improve the burger is to wrap it like good old greasy Joes fish and chip shop, this stops everything spilling out, see ya I'm off for my burger
Thanks for the comment! Oops yes, definitely don't forget the condiments. I have a little bit of ketchup on the top bun but didn't add any mustard. Enjoy!
Pineapple I can sort of understand - you see it on "Hawaiian" burgers all the time. But I had never heard of beetroot in a burger until I heard of the Aussie Burger. To me the taste all together was nice, but I'm not going to go out of my way to make this most days.
It's just a paper towel folded and dabbed with a little bit of olive oil. Some people will use a higher heat resistant oil like avocado oil, but truth be told I don't find it really makes much difference.
@@ChicagoGriller .. Awesome, thanks for that 👍🏼.. I thought it may have been a special kind of applicator on first glance , but a square of paper towel is way easier ( and cheaper ) 😉
