Hey gang, here's a video of crucial puppy training you should be doing in the first month with your puppy. Teach your puppy to NOT mouth your pantlegs, your shoes, or your hands. Don't wait! Do this training now. It is a foundation for good behavior and future training.

Hoping to get an AwesomeDoodle one day. These videos are so helpful. We particularly love Tom’s calm, consistent way with his babies. It’s so clear how passionate all of the puppy raisers are about their job. Can’t wait to begin the journey!

My Aussi Doodle puppy was born two days ago and your video is so helpful, thank you so much. I'm slowly buying everything I'll be needing (pipi pads, tons of bags, soft toy, squeeky toy, bowls etc... but I still have to get a harness, cage, fence (to keep it in the kitchen with me) etc.... At what age should I put a harness on my puppy? Would you suggest the buckle to be on top of its back or under his chest? Regards from Montreal (QC). Karen

Hi, I’m not sure if you monitor this chat still but I’ve been trying to do this with my Aussiedoodle, but if get the treats out she gets excited and sniffs at my hand and then looses interest after a few seconds. Any tips? We just got her a few days ago i didn’t know if she may be like this for a while where she won’t focus for a little bit

I've heard of clicker training and can hear you using your mouth to make a clicking sound. Have you found that to be effective? Does the puppy accept the clicking by itself instead of getting a treat as well? We're getting our Aussiedoodle in about a month and I'll begin training immediately. We had an Australian Shepherd for 16 years and she was incredibly smart. We miss her so much. We can't wait for our new Aussiedoodle. Smart dog that hardly sheds. Sounds like the perfect dog.

yes John you can make a click with your mouth. in fact, you can say any word like "yes" as long as you are consistent.

How long should you be doing this training with your puppy and at what age should they start this? Also, do you know when they won't need the training with the treats anymore?
@awesomedoodle6083
@awesomedoodle6083 7 лет назад
HI Daniel, you should start this training at about 6-7 weeks old. If your puppy is already older then that, that' ok! Do this several times a week. I use as many treats as it takes to keep my dog focused. After your dog is really "getting it" (after SEVERAL sessions) then you can start skipping a treat here and there. Eventually, you don't need to give treats anymore.

The only thing you're doing is feeding the puppy. Let's say you have no treats, is the puppy still following your lead? Treat training is not needed for this bread or any breed that always wants to please you. The only reward they need is 'good dog' in a positive voice. Just my opinion and 'till you try it don't knock it.
