Terrigal is really nice! Such a lovely beach. It has been my local beach for a while when visiting my family in Australia. I think Gosford, which is about 15 min drive from Terrigal has really good train connections to central sydney, might be worth checking out? Lots of love! Xxx

Yes we visited at the weekend to look at Gosford and its a very short drive which is a great option. I'll have a little vlog up soon and hopefully get more answers! Haha thank you for your comment ❤

Haha I'm really NOT looking forward to it. BUT I'm sure I'll be happy to sulk on the beach with a cocktail and BBQ! Haha

What area is the night market please? Is it near Liverpool? Another lovely vlog. Very open and honest. I broke my heart for you, but hope today is a better day for you. ❤️

Terrigal is a nice chilled out place. Central coat is a lot calmer and less stress. The kids would love living up there. As for you id say it would definitely help you.

Exactly this - much calmer! Definitely feel more happier there, just need to see if it will work for us :)

Thanks for sharing! Anxiety is real and lonely and so debilitating, it's important that you recognise its not permanent or abnormal! My tip is to write notes to yourself, and create a list of positives and negatives - find a way to count your blessings! Then look for activities in your area that could enhance your personal experience, right now, perhaps ask at a local community centre! You are settling really well and are amazing in what you have achieved already! Keep dreaming of a rock pool! 😌

Thank you. Yes it's awful. I've struggled all my life with anxiety but I'm eager not to go back onto medication. I know it's there but I'd like it to be last resort. Plenty of natural remedies here... including the ocean! 😊 it passes. Just letting people know it's not all sunshine and rainbows all the time. Thank you for your support, always so kind x

@@kimberleylucas Yes, my sister recommended St John's Wort, Camomile Tea, and breathing exercises! Definitely the ocean is an ideal place to find peace, and having pot plants helps! Take care! 😊

You should find it really easy to get into casual employment in retail and food. Most of those businesses will hire you off the street, because they just stick a sign in the window of their shop you will get $21.00 to $25.00 an hour for that type of work . Businesses are screaming for staff in the large shopping centres. I live in a regional (Maitland) 35 minutes from a beach in Newcastle or the lake Macquarie about 45 from Port Stephens 40 minutes to the vineyards , 10 minutes from a new hospital and 5 minutes to my doctor...but I digress, back to employment opportunites , they are everywhere up here and to be honest I miss nothing that a city could offer and without the traffic.

The problem with moving to Terrigal or anywhere on the Central Coast is that you are probably always going to have to commute to Sydney for work. Sydney has a lot of attractions but living there and putting up with the never ending traffic jams is not that attractive to me. With the number of immigrants moving into the western suburbs every year it is only going to get worse.. We are in Lake Macquarie and as yet the urban sprawl hasnt reached this far north unfortunately for the locals on the central coast they are slowly being consumed. I reckon after you have fullfilled your employment obligations look at the smaller cities like Perth, Brisbane, The Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast they have good employment opportunities and would definately be lot more relaxed places to live. Brisbane has the Olympics coming up in a few years so I imagine that civil engineers in SE Qld will be a highly regarded profession with all the construction going on. I have retired from full time work so If I was intending to move anywhere in Australia it would be to the area south of Perth like Rockingham or Mandurah which would be a commute into the city like the NSW Central Coast is to Sydney except it has better road and rail access. I know how hard it was for my wife with 2 kids when we lived for different periods in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, South Africa and in Mozambique the difference was that she knew eventually we would be returning home. The key was in keeping her and the kids busy by doing everything we could together when I was off which probably made the loneliness through the week a little more bearable..Inviting work colleagues or neighbours around for BBQs was a good way of getting to know people, in South Africa she actually became a cricket mum running our sons team around to their cricket games.

with shopping you are better off going to the asian and middle east suburbs and doing some shopping there for instance when my wife goes to Sydney to visit her son she comes home loaded with ginger and garlic from those areas because the price is ridiculously low compared to Coles or Woolies. The same with Pork .You can get pork Fillets and half the price you would pay at Woolies or Coles and even Aldi. Just make a day off it , although go during the week because some of those Asian suburbs are so full of people on the weekend sitting in a traffic cue it will drive you crazy. I might mention my wife is Chinese and been her for 8 years , her son came out to complete his masters degree in Business studies at the Uni of Sydney and has no intention of ever leaving he likes it so much .

Hi Kim, Keep plugging away, it will come. As far as a place to live, try Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast which is only 1 hour north of Brissy. There are plenty of reasonably priced homes and a very relaxed lifestyle, which I think will suit you.

Perth is amazing. Very good salaries, reasonably priced houses and great for young families. Really good expat communities also.

I am so glad you are an honest blogger. So many migrants see everything through rose tinted glasses. We tried to settle for 17 years but missed the UK so much and have returned. No regrets. Many reasons Australia wasnt for us. If you remain unsettled dont be afraid to return. Life is an adventure and you are young so plenty of time to try many things. Love x❤

When we lived in Australia we would go to the 7 11 for the little stuff (sweets for a movie etc) maybe you could try that instead of going into the big supermarket 👍

Well done for another honest update Kim! Everything you said and the emotions you feel resonate with me as I’ve been there. The house prices are ridiculous in Sydney. Then you come across the problem of moving too far away for work commute. My anxiety ran away with its self which isn’t ideal so please look after yourself Kim. You hold the family unit together Euan, Isla and Ren all need you happy and well 😊

You're welcome ❤ I've suffered anxiety for years and been on all the meds but hoping I can keep it at bay so I don't relapse. I'm doing my best with getting out and staying focused. It's a horrible thing isn't it! Sydney house prices are frightening, really hoping we can find somewhere close to the beach but not so sure we will! Xx

We have shops that aint just at local shopping centres here. Its just some areas don't. I used to live 3 houses down from a group of shops. Theres some reas that still have just a local shop which we used to call mik bars.
