Footy Season about to start wooohoooo!!! I understand how people can't understand it hahahahah!!! Merch 👉 linktr.ee/jimmyrees #AFL #funny #theguywhodecides
My old boss who was from England said to me once, AFL looks like seagulls fighting over a chip packet at the beach. While I enjoy the sport, that quote still rings true to me 15 years later 😂😂😂
100%! As an American who's gotten involved with amateur footy as an adult (so I'm often explaining it from absolute zero), this is incredible. The AFL's video is full of "whoa, look at our epic sport, it's so hardcore and cool, please like our sport" that makes it seem LESS approachable. Take this video and add some visuals, and it's a superior introduction.
Played aussie rules for 26 years now and this is....amazing. It makes footballers sound hardcore and kinda mental at the same time, and im not sure i have an issue with that.
I love how even though I know this is supposed to be funny(which it is), it somehow still describes AFL better than videos that were made specifically to accurately explain it😂
@Whiteswan Lilly The AFL's own website has a fair crack. It's like a promo video for overseas audiences, so the boring bits have been edited out. Worth a look 🏈
I totally agree with Jason. Coming from South Africa, this was a very confusing sport to understand. 7 years in and we still don't completely get it. Another banger of a video Jimmy. Keep it up.
@@MrWilliamtomkinson 2 whole years? You're a veteran. You sound young, keep at it mate Actually I played it 28 years and coached for 10 and must admit today's interpretation by Umpires confuses me no end. They need a moratorium on rule changes for about 5 years so the Umpires can all get on the same page.
I am an aussie, so thanks Jimmy for finally explaining this aussie religion in a way I can understand, sort of. You might like some tibetan monks I know who have a similar humorous ability to pull apart our accepted human concepts. One of them asked me to explain cricket, I said well there are these men dressed in white who play for 5 days, and often no one wins......
Yeah American have autistic fits of rage at association football taking 90 minutes to end in a goalless draw and they don't even realise if you wait till summer you could watch a sport that could take 5 days to end in a draw... keke
Oh! So this is the video you were filming the other day on your instagram story. 🤪 Afl is actually a good sport 🏈 Even though it’s as confusing as the covid restrictions/non restrictions.😂😂😂 Thanks Jimmy!👀👍🏻🍸🍸
"You get a point for missing??🤔😂 But what if you miss all of the poles? "They get nothing because they missed, Jason!" 😂 A John wait no a Dave No! A mark!! 😂 This was so accurate 😂😂😂😂
Perfect vid other than all the references to 'blokes' running round rather than 'players'...Also AFLW has been going for months soooo footy has been back for a while. Give the girls some love too !
You get a point in Canadian Football if you miss the Goal but the ball clears the End Zone and in Gaelic Football and Hurling you get a point if the ball goes above the goal but stays between the posts
Being counted as behind for grazing the post is what always confuses me the most. It feels like a communication error when the creator said "cleanly through the posts" for a goal because they didn't have video to decide close calls and they interpreted it to mean "no contact with the post AT ALL", and spend 5min of high def video replays and hot spot technology to decide if it was a goal or not. Come on Australia, lets fix this travesty against common sense. Through the big posts=goal, through the small post=behind, outside posts=miss.
@@comealongcomealong4480 So Royal Rumble is an annual wrestling event held by WWE. In the titular match(es) at the event (usually) 30 participants enter, one every 1-2 minutes, all trying (in storyline) to eliminate each other by throwing them over the top rope. It's everyone against everyone else and it is, in parts, like a chaotic all-in brawl, hence the reference here.
@@TheJaguar1983 Thanks for the explan. It sounds brutal ! but glad you enjoy it. Me, I like football .... but glad we fans don't have to witness the intentional brutality of past decades. Polly Farmer's health condition in his later years nearly broke my heart. And too many others. I miss Danny Frawley every season 😪
i was on exchange in Germany and explaining the rules to my class... drew the field on the chalkboard and someone said it looked like quidditch and now i can't unsee it cause it basically is quidditch, lol
Fun fact; soccer did give you points for missing. Before the rules were agreed at the FA in 1872, Sheffield FC, the oldest soccer club in the world, used to play with "Rouges" that were either side of the main goalposts, and would be counted separately to the goals (like the Gaelic points system)
