I have an Ausiedoodle. We got her from someone who did no crate or potty training at all. At 5 months she was still in puppy mode. She herds us, so we heard her back. She’s like Velcro - requires a lot of attention and loves to play. She’s protective and only talks when she’s frustrated. They can climb - I’ve never seen a dog climb like that before. She climbed and ate half a bag of treats when she was a puppy (stomach pumped) so beware. Kitchen countertops were no challenge for her. She dominates at the dog park - and we work daily on impulse control. Have done training one and one and obedience classes.

That's what I say about my Temperpedic, that's it's like sleeping on a cloud. For chewing I always bought my dogs bully sticks, from Pet Edge, my favorite dog store merchandise. Bully sticks are way better than raw hide which can get stuck and choke your dog where bully sticks are all beef, like from the cow tendons, but there fully digestible. Your baby is adorable.

Max, our 9 month old Aussiedoodle mini is great. We live outside city limits so playing fetch 2-3 times a day/night with a glow in the dark ball. Is easy and fun. We paid $1600, and would pay ten times that again. Mine needs the groomer every 4 weeks, but loves to jump in the shower with me, so he gets a shower usually 1-2 times a month besides his grooming, we never brush him. Our groomer charges $45. She has said that she would love to keep him if we ever decide to let go of him. Not ever gonna happen, but she is super sweet and helped us get him used to being groomed. An electric toothbrush was what she suggested to expose him to the noise and vibrations. He also does really well if we leave for 5-6 hours. We have a pen, and put on RU-vid dog calming shows. I have a video baby monitor, so I can make sure he isn’t stressed. At night he jumps off the bed and gets in his crate. Everything you brought up is true except, what we have to do for his coat, but he has extremely curly hair. He loves playing with my 3 and 6 year old grandsons. He is the best investment we have ever made. So worth the training time we do daily, both my wife and I do 2 ten minute sessions everyday. Max has brought our entire family so much love and fun. This is our 3rd puppy in our 36 years of marriage. After losing my last dog at the age of 19, I swore I would never do it again, 2 years later my wife put the first deposit down giving me the pick of the litter, now I’m whooped again. Truth be told he picked us, at 6 weeks he would not leave me alone, while spending the afternoon with mom and entire litter. My wife knows what’s best for me. ❤

My daughter and her family also purchased an Aussiedoodle. Each family member is in love with Dixie and each one considers her his or her own dog. We recently talked about if there was a house fire what one thing would you take when you run out of the house. My eleven year old immediately said, I would take my ( not our) puppy. The family is now dealing with allergies. Mom and son are getting allergy shots. They will do whatever they have to in order to make this work. Dixie is one year old and past the crazy puppy stage but still very active. Both mom and dad work outside the home so Dixie is alone until son (age 14) returns home from school, and then, as my daughter says, the lovefest begins. A lot of work, a lot of expense, but so much priceless joy.

I have a 2 year old Aussidoodle over all I agree with what she said BUT I kind of disagree about the first statement. My partner works from 6-4:30 M,Sat,Sun and I work 7-6 M,T,W. Luckily it’s a pretty balanced schedule where he isn’t home alone everyday of the week. But the times we are at work we have a camera in the house and he does perfectly fine! He sleep a lot wish sometimes makes me sad but there’s time where he’s playing alone. We walk him before leaving and we give him a treat before leaving or something to keep him occupied the first few hours that he will be alone. He doesn’t cry or bark when we leave he sits and waits to we lock the door to go eat the treat we gave him. Once we get back we walk him immediately and spend an ample amount of time with him and obviously take him out at least 3 to 4 times after a long walk so he can be outside a bit more. OH and we don’t use a crate! He roams around the house freely. He sleeps on our bed or on his dog bed. I just want to clarify that it’s quite impossible to not leave a dog at home when you have a life such as working, date nights, hobbies, activities etc. Don’t make a decision of not getting a dog because you’re living too. I would say if you don’t know how to take care of your dog before (leaving your home) or after you (come back home) or caring for them and their needs then that’s when I agree that you shouldn’t get a dog. My baby is one happy dog and he does such a good job being home on his own when he needs to be or when we go to work. And he’s NOT professionally trained. Also my aussidoodle was $400 not all of them are $1000+. Yes they do have a shit ton of energy! And yes their fur is high maintenance. But I would say this is the best dog you would ever get extremely loving extremely intelligent. You need ALOTS OF patience LOTS of love for them LOTS of attention and LOTS of training with them! Great video though and pretty spot on.

Very true but they are amazing dogs. I am active and live alone so we go on a lot of adventures together. My girl does great when left alone freeroaming and has never been one to chew things that aren't her toys. So SO smart. She knows so many words and sentences (I made a point to talk to her about what's going on and teaching her words as a puppy). So active. She would play fetch until she collapses of exhaustion if I kept throwing the ball or Frisbee. Definitely an alert dog - she barks. But we have been working on that and like always, is a fast learner and loves to please her mom. It's all about taking the time to train them and do it properly. I read a lot of training books and basically dedicated my life for her first month's to just training. Now at 2 years old she is an angel. Could not have asked for a better dog. As far as grooming goes, her salon visits cost more than mine 😂 but worth it.

Thank you for the video. I found it helpful. I grew up with a cockapoo. Would love a German Shepherd. But an Aussiedoodle, I believe, would be an ideal pet for me, (after research and introspective deliberation). That is, theoretically. Haha. So yeah, grooming, training, puppy nipping, - hadn’t thought of that. Plus, getting a pet means I will (eventually) be living alone. I know now I should consider how selfish that may be with an Aussiedoodle. Thank you again, -your video, being a first-hand account, was certainly helpful.

I have an 8 month old Aussiedoodle and definitely agree with some of the cons these guys are very very active! Very trainable so smart learn so quickly and if they aren’t stimulated at times they can get destructive. At times we feel like we have a baby raptor 😂 but so loyal and sweet at the same time they make the best companions!

Hi, Torey! What are your thoughts on how intense the breed's herding instinct is? We have a cat (who does well with a cockapoo we dog-sit often), and I'm just worried that an Aussiedoodle will chase/bother him too much for them to really get along. Maybe that's something we could train to fix, but I'm still concerned. Thank you in advance!
@toreynoora
@toreynoora 2 года назад
I think it depends on the breeder you get the dog from, Frankie is only a quarter Australian Shepherd so she doesn’t have that much of a strong instinct to heard. And when she does it’s just cute, and not really a problem. With our kids tho, we don’t have a car for reference. Thanks for watching!

I have an aussiedoodle (about 38lbs) and a cat. No kids or other animals. They get along well. My aussie definitely will "heard" her sometimes but it's like playing for both of them. My cat isn't bothered by it and it's just once in a while... not constant harassment.

the shedding can depend on genetics! I have an F1 aussiedoodle, he is furnished so doesn't shed, but another from his litter sheds it all depends if they get the furnishing gene, which is from the poodle side if you get one that has more poodle it'll be less likely to shed

What kind of a brush do you use for an aussie doodle? We just got ours about 3 weeks ago and havent brushed her yet because we dont know what brush to use. And we only paid $800 for ours. And we're having problems with potty training. We'll take her outside about 100 times a day and as soon as she comes in, she pees. Lol.

I too have a 1 year old Aussie Doodle. She is a medium size girl who is a blue merle and is incredibly intelligent. She did belong to our grandson who lived with us but unfortunately he died from a head injury in May of this year. Consequently, she has had very little training. Im hoping that someone can help me with her worst problem which is that she eats feces (poop). It makes me feel sick to see her and I've tried to stop her but to no avail. If anyone knows what to do, please let me know. Did I mention that she is very willful? I call her my three year old in a dog suit. I'll be so grateful to anyone who can help with the poo-poo problem. Thanks ❤

5 Reasons Not To Get An Aussiedoodle: 1. Doesn't like being left alone. 2. High energy and needs lots of exercise. 3. Requires regular, high maintenance grooming. 4. Expensive to buy and long wait times on breeder wait lists. 5. Very intelligent, requires challenging training.

@@foodplayzgames A dog is going to have to be left on his or her own at some point. People work, or they need to leave the house on errands, or they might want to go on holiday, etc. Unless your dog is a service animal, you can't bring them with you everywhere, and if your pet ends up being destructive in the home due to separation anxiety, then this is an important factor to consider about the breed. Knowing this will prepare owners to try and make the dog as comfortable as they can in their absence, or to choose a different and more relaxed breed that's a better match. Being smart is also something owners need to factor in. While all dogs are intelligent, some breeds are smarter than others, and they usually require greater mental stimulation. Otherwise the need to work their minds will again manifest through destructive behaviour, or even develop into neurotic or compulsive behaviours which can harm the dog himself. So again, prospective owners can either prepare to meet the dog's needs, or choose a breed that's better suited to their lifestyle.
