I'm so sad that Austin didn't win. I know he put his heart and soul into this movie and worked tirelessly to portray Elvis. I'm sure he is at peace knowing he gave his best performance... he should be very proud of himself. I bet both Elvis and his mom are looking down at him with pride. ❤

I was so sure he was going to win. (I never wanted anything more so badly for some one I don’t even know.)Especially after Elvis lost in the other categories that it was nominated in. I thought that movie deserves to win something, it was so epic. Then when it came time to announce best actor, and in my mind there was no way Austin wasn’t gonna take it. I was shocked and disappointed. Not to take anything away from Brendan, but Austin put his blood, sweat, and tears into this role (literally). After I calmed down, I couldn’t help but think how long it took Leo to finally get his Oscar recognition after so many amazing performances. I realized Austin will get his. His work ethic and his love of the craft isn’t going to change anytime soon. I just hope it doesn’t take as long for him as it did for Leo. Hold your head up high Austin, you should be so proud of yourself.....for the way you handle the press, the way you conduct your interviews, the way you approach your roles, for the man that you are. If anyone deserves a lasting and meaningful career in this business/industry, it’s you.

Despite missed out the award, Austin is a nice humble young man and from the Elvis experience i'm sure he's destinated to be a great actor. Elvis was nominated 8 times that is a fantastic achievement.

He beat Brendan in both Golden globes and Bafta so it's cool... Oscars only cares about their own image and what's best for them. If you look what they both had to go up against it's Butler who had the much harder job here and did it great. It's one thing to act and be a great actor like they both were but Austin not only did he act he also sang which only there makes it alot harder. He had to study one of the biggest stars we ever had and did that for 2 years and to get that 100% right and with that comes a hugh Responsibility and the pressure that came with that to do the guy right and not any guy (Elvis) must been crazy. Sooo for me Austin deserved it more, for all the work he did for that role that totally changed him and the outcome of it that was just amazing on screen to watch.

Oscars are nuts in their nominating groupings. Different roles, different movie categories but the nominations are all lumped into one lump. Austin deserved it hugely but so did Brendan. I love Jamie Lee Curtis but still thought Cate Blanchett should have won. A couple of years ago I was so upset when Once Upon A Time in Hollywood lost (Austin Butler was in it by the way) and the Oscar went to a totally unknown film never to be heard of it again. Crazy. That’s why the Golden Globes are better as they group nominations in different movie categories, drama, action, comedy, musicals….

I don’t believe in an award for coming back to a career. The Oscar back in my day was for excellence in a role which is what Austin Butler portrayed. Absolute excellence. We are all totally believed that Austin will win, these entertainment reporters also. But academy members voted against Austin for Austin's success and his popularity. Austin is such a good looking actor who could play method acing to the limit. I could imagine some gets jelous. I’m done with them. After Andrew’s great performance in Hacksaw ridge lost to zero emotion 99% of his film…Casey Affleck. Andrew acted circles around him and the film received 11 min ovation at Cannes, but Casey won. Unbelievable. It happened again with Austin. It is an Acting award. Austin had a million more acting scenes that required coaches and moves and voices over a man sitting and talking. There is NO comparison, Austin was robbed!

My dear Austin, You don't want the damm Oscar. Golden globe and BAFTA are the most prestigious awards now. Oscar is shamefully went down the status so low. Academy members should awarded Austin's Oscar worthy performance. He is so young, beautiful looking, very well trained actor. Who wouldn't be jelous! Many exellent actors had hard time getting it. Bradley Cooper were nominated 9 times yet he hasn't get one. Do justice!

The academy sucks. I'm sorry there are hundreds of actors who cou have played the part in the Whale but I do not know if another actor who could have delivered the performance Austin did. They gave out a pitty award not an award for the best performance. He was so robbed. At least the Globes got it right. He gave the Oscar worthy performance but wasn't rewarded the award for it. Baz made the right choice too bad Hollywood is full of bull anymore instead of integrity.

I love Austin, and he was incredible in Elvis, but his PR team has clearly told him not to go on the red carpet with his girlfriend Kaia. They always do that. He even mentioned his date to one of the Oscar films was his Dad, and then he brought his sister to Golden Globes. After all the awards finished he went to the VF party with Kaia but was hardly seen with her before. He brought his agent as his date to The Oscars. Kinda reminds me of what Dicaprio does and a few others. They don't like to show their girlfriends and I find it a little but shady. I do he's Brilliant though.
