@@ilogicalmind3618 Probably because hockey is seen here as the sport of the rich (which is not completely false when we see the price of a license) and because football is far more intuitive than hockey

Tennis was not that popular too before Hainin and Klijsters... look at it now ! I think maybe it's going to be the same way with hockey. We needed this victory after the world and European titles to make it popular. For foot we had mundial 82 then the last one !

Indian players lacked experience. Avg age of Indian team was 25 years while average age of Belgium was 28 or 29.

I'm not sure if you'd agree with the fact that India seem to be in that transitional mode and sometimes sit annoyingly deep, specially after scoring. The teams that read this, i.e. Aussies, Belgians and even the Germans (came very close) exploited that. If you play hockey in that mental state and the other team has read that, it is very difficult to avoid penalty corners after that, and we all know in modern hockey winning penalty corners is way easier.

Indian defence is poor always consume goal in last quarters, even the time of dhanraj pillai. Against Germany india stopped attacking in last quarter

Indian team should unfestand that in modern hockey, attscking is the best defence esp in last quarter to avoid penalty corners & defeats.

Defeat?? Come on.. India has risen from 8th ranked team to 3rd and they have won an Olympic Bronze, a medal in the olympics after 41 years !!

They have also become a top team in Football. I remember they were nowhere in the early 2000s. Today their bench can defeat any team in the World.
