No they don’t have tachographs. They all have Log books they must keep, some companies like Johno’s have digital record keeping for their own purposes. When in Western Australia they also have to keep to Western Australia Fatigue Management guidelines. More about this in my next video.

By “get around” I’m guessing you mean understand not fiddle!😂 Yes they tell you what to do…mostly but as the rules & regs change so often, the Tacho’s are not always up to date. As for fiddling, I don’t know how long ago you used one but they have changed a lot in the last few years. Amongst other things, magnets don’t work on newer gearboxes, they’re automatically downloaded without driver having to do anything, not even stop! The new ones can be downloaded by a vehicle driving alongside you! I’m sure there will always be some genius who can by pass them but nowadays not your average Joe and the fines if you get caught are like telephone numbers! I can see the reasoning for them, it should give the driver a better life balance but the rules & regs are just too confusing and restricting. They are policed as if they are law which they are not, meaning they are left to “interpretation” so one thing could mean different thing to different authorities and in different countries.

@@GBtrucklady I started of in Europe in the 80's 90's sub contracting for a well known Cheltenham company. It was pay by the trip, and if you put in some hard work, it was lucrative work. They had people in their work shop that could quickly enhance a vehicles electrical system that would benefit such operations. Over night parking in France wasn't even a consideration. I always liked French, Italian, and Spanish cops as most were open to negotiation... Coffee !!!!! Switzerland Germany ..... No chance...
