I can't believe it. A week ago a long-forgotten memory came to me of the guy in the crowd (around 4.00) who caught the six and smoked his cigarette like nothing had happened. Then today I search youtube for something unrelated (namely those 1987 Botham innings), and of all things I see the aforementioned catch. Plus, after 10 years of living in a non-cricket playing country, it's so nostalgic to hear Tony Grieg say "comprehensively bowled". Much respect for posting these precious memories.
FWIW, an odd coincicence: I saw this game on TV twenty years ago. For some reason, a week ago I remembered the cool dude in the crowd (around 4.00) who caught the six and continued to smoke his cigarette like nothing had happened. Then today I searched youtube for something unrelated (=those amazing 1987 Botham one-day innings), and of all things I see the aforementioned catch only a week after this long-forgotten memory had returned to me.
England won the trifecta of competitions that season. The Ashes test series, the WACA Perth Challenge (a four team one day series involving Australia, England, the West Indies and Pakistan, held over the New Year holiday period and staged to coincide with the America's Cup yachting off Freemantle), and the World Series Cup, shown here. Some season that, couldn't imagine them doing it these days.
