G-Day Cas, I know I don't have to tell you this as we are of a similar vintage ( your younger) but the adds for the Army were a lot different when we joined. When I joined, it felt like I had to move heaven and earth just to get to boot camp (18 yrs old and under weight) but I did it. I was raised with the belief your word is your bond and never to quit, none of the touchy feely BS that goes on today, I'm not saying that's right or wrong but it hardened me up for Boot Camp and beyond. I swore the oath and I believe it and live it to this day. For those who wish to join strengthen your mind and your body (train for the resilience of mind and body) remember there will be mental knocks along with the physical ones. Cheers for the video Cas. 💪🏼

Hey Johnny, right on it was the fear of failure that made me compensate with insane fitness and strength for an underweight kid I was but now so many of our youth have been brought up to live in a world of expectation without consequence and it's hurting us big time. All I'm going to say is that I wish there was social media back when I enlisted in 1987. 17yrs old thinking I knew everything. Turns out I knew just a little bit less than nothing. The only reason I got through was because I was extremely fit from boxing, rugby league, surfing, moto cross and any other sports going. Marched out with my original platoon thinking now I know something 🤔. Then I arrived at Gladiator School, sorry Singo, where shit got real very fast 😳. Keep up the great work Cas.

@@inthetrencheswithcas1762 totally agree. Just had a debate on a topic with the daughter about taking responsibility for one’s actions. She started to walk away while I was speaking and no matter how many times I called her she just kept walking. I got up and went to her room and she refused to look up at me when I was talking and when she did her comment was; You raised your voice and that has a impact on me. I said; I didn’t raise my voice and as for walking away from me while I was talking to you that just isn’t on, especially in this house. Consequences if her actions just before is that she can’t participate in a traineeship she has been selected for which is gaining her certs in retail management. As I said, if you can’t take criticism from me then there is no way you will be able to take it from a boss you will be working with one day a week so you can maybe do it next year.

To be honest I’d say always work on correct form planking the army sit up is more of a hip flex and the most you will ever have to do at even 18 years old is 64…. Correct form to cadence when you do your sit ups or push ups is a great way to improve..
@nicolek1676
@nicolek1676 2 года назад
Remember to breath out as you go up and breath in as you go back down. Don’t use your hips or thighs to help you sit up but concentrate on using your core muscles. As Cas said do planking also as this helps strengthen your core muscles. Also don’t lay all the way back down, just lay down to your shoulders with your head still looking forward.

@lard_lad_AU
@lard_lad_AU 2 года назад
As someone who went from being a overweight slug to doing half marathons , it takes time. There is no magic formula but my advice is 1. Get to a good weight for your height. Running is the best way to lose weight. 2. Run for distance / time. Eg : 5kms in 30 min. Then as you improve aim to shave off a minute or so. Aim to get a bit quicker each week. 3. Build up to longer distances 10-12 kms in under 1 hour. If can run 10 kms without needing a break, your on a good track and will shit it in for a 2.4. 4. Do intervals once a week. Eg run hard a 10 x 200m with 30 seconds walk, then work up to 10 x 400 m hard run with 60 second breather in between. 5. Rucking. Put a pack on, walk fast 5kmh pace for 60+ min .
@lard_lad_AU
@lard_lad_AU 2 года назад
Speed often comes as your cardiovascular fitness improves. The best way is to do more running , even if it hurts and sucks
@joshjosh6192
@joshjosh6192 2 года назад
Hey man. I recommend running 400m’s doing interval training. For you start with 5 or 6 400’s, run the 400 on maybe 2mins 30 seconds, whilst resting for 2mins 30 seconds. Repeat 5 or 6 times and each session try add in an extra interval!
@rambo4770
@rambo4770 2 года назад
I agree both with what David and josh said, but first you have to to slowly build mileage to get your body used to the pounding, than slowly add speed work. Never add volume and intensity at the same time though.
@inconspicuousdaddy6307
@inconspicuousdaddy6307 2 года назад
Yeah what Josh said. Interval training is one of the best ways to improve your fitness. I reckon focussing on how far you can get in 10-11 minutes. From there start shaving of your time whilst keeping the rest periods OR just tone your tempo down to a slow jog. For eg. Run 3 minutes, Rest 1 minute, Run 3 minutes, Rest 1 minutes and then Run for the remainder of the 2 minutes. For me I had to achieve 2.4km in 10 minutes which I did through interval training. Like Cas said, if your going infantry or singos you would wanna be good enough to complete the basic fitness assessment (BFA)
