Yes It's a VERY small world. I know IDR models. Ian helped me out a lot in the past with weird bits & bobs. I bought him a old classic BOAC first class flight bag so he could fit in better at train shows. This bag was a running joke between us. At the St Lukes train show near where I live there was a guy there who was heavily into Trams, rare to see a big Tram layout at train shows. He would love the tram in this video. But sadly St Lukes in no longer. As I said in another comment the train shows are vaporizing in the area of Sydney where I live. And that was happening prior to the plandemic hitting. St Lukes pulled the pin in 2019. It had been running for over 30 years and thats where I saw the amazing Hornby Live Steam. An incredible blip on the little train radar.

I didn't know about St Lukes, that's real disappointment to hear it's not long, after seeing your view it was one I was very keen to visit! Lets hope out this side of the lockdowns we see a great bit off support thrown behind the exhibitions! Would be an absolute shame to loose them!
I've been an HO scale modeller for about 60 years. For the last decade, I've also had a G gauge/A scale/45mm/#1 gauge/1:29 scale (just to be completely clear!) railroad in my back yard. The biggest change I made to it about 5 years ago was to install batteries and throw out the DC power. What was an infrequently-run, pain the butt to clean and operate train set turned into a joy. Batteries make it a night and day difference. I use the Revolution system, with generic diesel sound, and batteries permanently installed inside the locos. Easy to use, inexpensive, and solid. If HO can go to batteries, that would be fantastic. PS I love seeing your viewers' layouts and the way you've chosen to edit them into your videos. Keep it up!

Great update Will. I didn't even know some of those products or companies existed. Thanks for doing these updates. I like the snippets of other layouts. I agree re batteries. One company already does it that I know of. It will be mainstream soon.

I agree, but i think i should have put it in some more context, as you're spot on, the larger scales have had battery power for years, but anything under O gauge it's bit of a push! Thanks for sending it!
I've designed a blueprint of Seymour for a Ho scale layout. It is based on Seymour in the early 1970s however it does have a twist being it also contains the Seymour Railway Heritage Centre as well. The layout starts from halfway between the Schoolhouse Lane railway crossing (Dysart) and Tallarook and goes to just passed the Hume Freeway bridges over the railway near Mangalore
Great vid Will, preordered one of those 38s, hopefully will have footage of my own layout soon. I think we'll see more automation come to model railways with how small tech and cheap tech is getting and programs like adurino we may see mass produced kits of operational grain elevators or container yards? Which would be amazing for operations and adding that extra realism aspect.

Great video again Will. It is great what Trainworld is doing with the SDS preorder ,I hope other shops and manufacturers do the same thing ,it gives you time to save up some money for the purchase. They already run G Scale with batteries and they run great. The next big thing will be wireless leds I think , I remember some guys talking about it , I don't know how they work ,but is something I heard. Looking forward to the J Class, Derm, C Class ,G Class and CLP's. Still wanting a rerun of the V LIne N Class to go with the Overland Cars. We have it pretty good these days ,when I started, we only had Lima and Powerline. Cheers.

I think I should have added a little bit to the battery question, I should have said in the smaller scales say O and lower! But wireless LEDS?! Now that sounds super interesting! I had no idea we had so many Aussie companies and models here. I'm finally getting in to the hobby for real now that I can afford it and I look forward to whenever any Victorian Exhibitions start again!

Jason ,have a good look before you buy one ,my friend has 2 and in my opinion ,they are pretty ordinary. We have had trouble getting it to run smoothly and the tender has fixed bogies. Just try one before you buy one ,cheers John.
@@1johnmcwilliams same also my motor bearings disintegrated after a month in mine can't get a hold of Arm so had to improvise and my bogies were cast crooked on the tender so it just derailed constantly. Also you may find when you recieve the model that have the detail parts will have dislodged themselves in the box
@@matbeech7518 Hi Mat, that is disappointing the troubles you have had. I just didn't want Jason to order one unseen and be unhappy with it when it arrived. I am sure there are people out who are happy with the model, but I would not buy one.

@@WillJamesRailways I work and live on a farm near Skipton. Just say Ballarat because it's the closest and people know it. Apparently there used to be a train club but not any more. Ah I know the area very well! Well I’ve just shot a message to someone in the Ballarat Model Railway club. Apparently they’re still open, (well not whilst the restrictions are in place) he did tell me they’re getting new roof so that might be part of the problem but they do have a couple of layouts there. Might be worth a look in when things are bit more back to normal! Haha a situation also of us relate to!

Great video Will👏 The NR's made by SDS look quite different to Auscision's. I guess the $40 price difference can mean a lot in the detail department for model trains!

Great video Will there is some good stuff coming out I might look at getting the IDR DERM. As much as I want an Ixion J class I don't think I will be getting one as i will be broke after buying it!. Hi James. If at some stage in the future you get the chance to come into nsw I would highly recommend coming to see the layout at the Bathurst rail museum. It models the nsw main western line between Bathurst and Tarana. We aren’t a club as such, as the museum is operated by the local Council as a business, but we do have a bunch of volunteers who look after the layout and run it for visitors. The museum also has some rail memorabilia (including a restored carriage), and a huge brio set for the kids.
@@WillJamesRailways my bad getting your names mixed up. What’s unique about the rail museum is that the layout is open to the public 6 days a week from 9 till 4. I don’t know of any other layout with the same level of intensive running. The layout is also fully computerised. The layout is managed like a real railway, with signal blocks and basic timetable, all through dcc and software. When it’s running well, we don’t need to do a thing, but when it breaks, it really breaks. I’ve had the system fail on me when the room was full of the public. Lots of pressure to sort the issue out and get the trains going again.

Hahah nah I just couldn’t justify the range finder anymore or rather 4 cameras in the house and not the correct lenses for shooting video and miniatures! I mean it’s a great hobby, but like every hood hobby it’s a big old money pit!

Closer to home both Wayne and AJ loved it as does anyone who has not seen this NFSA Darling Harbour steam film. Near 100 year old steam locomotives still hard at work right near the centre of Sydney.

Well there was some in this episode and some on previous ones before, however I can only bring you news if there is new updates and releases. I’m not ignoring it, far from it as I reckon the Australian N Scale scene will blow up over the next few years. I’ve had similar comments about other scales, and Ho is by far the most popular and thus there will always be more about that scale. But I try my hardest to bring everyone as much news news from all scales and regions.
