We had an opportunity to visit the Victorian Goldfields Railway in late October to see J549 running before she is withdrawn from service for a major overhaul from Jan - May 2023. We follow the J from Castlemaine through Muckleford to Maldon. After a fewshots of servicing and turning, we get a few more shots on the return to Castlemaine.

Great shots, the dusting on J 549 kinda gives a country steam vibe. Also nice to see E 371 in the station dock. Chuck a bucket of smokey rags in the smokebox and it'll look like she's about to do some shunting!

Thanks! Yes 371 looks good, she was done up by the young volunteers. Hmmm, a couple of oily rags... Next time! 🙂

I've seen so many of your South African steam videos. So many wonderful South African trains. Good that you are doing some in Australia. Do you intend coming to Adelaide to do a video of the Steamranger from Mount Barker to Victor Harbor. I have a couple on my RU-vid channel Train Lord site, but unfortunately no drones. Good work.

Ah yes I spent a lot of time chasing trains in South Africa. Will definitely be over to Adelaide at some point, will visit SteamRanger and then Pichi Richi. I'll check out your videos, thanks!
