This channel features high quality railway videos dating back to the mid-1990's. The main focus is on steam, with countries featured including Australia, South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Germany and the UK. The steam operations featured include revenue-earning passenger and freight, along with steam specials, photo freights and regular preservation workings. Some diesel footage is also included.
A American-Built 4-6-2 “Pacific” in the country of Africa. It’s quite cool to know that it was built all the way from my home country United States of America and shipped towards the South African Railway here. South African Railway 860 is one of my favorite African Steam Locomotives.
Yes, wonderful video. I started in 1973 as a fireman, and this locomotive was there. All the 25 NC locomotives started from 3401 upto 3422. The driver who worked this 3422 regularly was Hannes Greef, a big guy, wonderful guy. Engin I fired was 3417 with driver Flip Marx, wonderful days. Hard work but worth it.
@@steamfreak Yeah, I visited the WST depot and can confirm it's true. However, I have been told by volunteers that she is actually being turned into an educational display to show all the inner workings of a steam locomotive, and they plan to display her in the centre of the Depot.
Hello Traver, Thank you for recording precious moments about Chengde Steelwork Branch. I am a rail-fan in Chengde, China. I am very appreciated your work. Could I use this video as a part of my film of "Beijing-Chengde" Railway? I would enclose the original RU-vid link while writing your name in my film. Best wishes, SkyUniverse
Steam locomotives are fantastic, but when you see the double headers it's incredible. Thanks very much for sharing this fantastic footage. Sound is brilliant 👍👌👏🤗
❤😊 I love this South Africa steam train 🚂 cab ride video can you make another South Africa steam train cab ride for coasterfan2105 Mike Armstrong for me please 🎉
Great video 😎👍 I've had a fascination with the Cudgewa branch for a few years now and was planning a trip there. Unfortunately my 4x4 has given up the ghost. At least now I now that some of the ild right of way would be accessible for a "road" car. Thanks for your time and effort in putting this on youtube 😀👍
Fantastic photography showing this great train in all its glory. I was privileged to make several trips on the Aurora in the 1970s as a kid with my Mum. 😊👍🏻
I was based in Dete Rhodesia 1969 for 2yrs I fired these steam engines to Victoria falls and the opposite way to Sawmills I left and came back to UK because of the terrorist activity, not my country. Working tourist
That would suggest leaseholders can’t build over or remove alignment and we know that’s happened at multiple points along the track. Thanks question answered
@@budget-adventure Yep, unless the former alignment has been sold, which is a complex process. I don't think much (if any) of the old line has been sold between the Kiewa River and Cudgewa. In some cases, the rail trail gets realigned if the proximity of the trail to houses etc. will cause problems (i.e. near Boggy Creek) or if the land has been sold.
@@steamfreakthe main three I can think of is the new cfa shed in tallangatta seems to have been built on the old alignment, the hockey courts there also cut it in half, and the start of the original line at the bonegilla road bridge where a house was build on the original alignment. I think originally the guy who owned the land up from tallangatta ck demolished the small trestle bridge there because he didn’t want a rail trail going through his property. It’s weird when you look at NSW, and any closed lines still have rail in place because of some law saying if it needs to be re opened the infrastructure is still there. Have you heard anything like that?
@@steamfreakI’ll ask you the question then, the beetoomba approach section is that private property and are you allowed to drive on the old alignment? I just visited beetoomba to the needles and it’s all private property still, no rail trail there yet
@@budget-adventure Yes it's effectively private property at present. The rail trail will run through there at some point, but at the moment walking or driving along there would cause problems. I had a chat to one of the farmers along there, he was fine with the rail trail when it goes throughbut was pretty annoyed with the occasional person trespassing in the meantime.
