Australians concerned about harmful effects of ‘mis and disinformation’ 

If people are so concerned about mis and dis information they should stop listening to mainstream media, celebrities, ticktok influencers ,and politicians

The only concern that Aussies should have about mis and dis information is that it is coming from government.

FREEDOM OF SPEECH allows us to debate "misinformation" and "disinformation" so we can kill bad ideas before they become reality. Anything else is CENSORSHIP.

I am more concerned about government and corporations joint effort to censor the Australian people.

I have a difficult time under this channel in light of how Australian government and society handled COVID. Why would any Australian be surprised by information, especially information clearly designed to promote a political position vs. the truth.

I'm really only concerned about our own government's mis or dis-information 'campaign' and their need for censorship..... but what really hurts is their constant lies an inaction on just about everything. At least on social media we get to choose the content and not have a far Left-wing appointed board or authority do it for you.

She barely even tries to hide that she is not concerned with "safety" she is concerned about control. You are not smart enough to decide for yourself what to watch. The problem is who will decide what is mis or disinformation. It comes down to opinion, preference, ideology, knowledge and other personal factors. Also, the so-called “independent” fact checkers are always at the behest of whoever provides them the contract. They are never truly independent. The only way it might work is if the definitions of mis and disinformation are provided in advance including specifically what will be censored in specific areas, e.g. if someone posts a scientifically accurate video, tweet etc debunking climate alarmism or that debunks the concept of a historical Palestinian state. Even then, who decides the scientific accuracy. It should be a requirement that if someone wants to censor information they should have to first prove it is harmful and scientifically wrong. Everything said above does NOT include child pornography or other self-evidently vile or illegal content.

Who defines and decides what is disinformation and misinformation? Censoring free speech is not acceptable. In my opinion, the commentary online, if it is illegal via snail mail, letterbox, email or in person, then it should be dealt with, be prosecuted under those existing laws.

I am more concerned about the government sensor ship and controlling legislation, maybe start with your own dis information and mis information policy.

You don’t have to go to the site and put up with people, you also don’t have to read any comments people make towards you, whereas in the physical world its hard to avoid that punch in the face, broken teeth are painful and costly, you are physically trapped in the environment. Kids can’t leave the class or school, you can’t just walk out on your job. If kids you are expected to “just walk away” while someone is shouting abuse in your face or actively trying to beat your head in, then why is clicking the mouse to close a web browser such a difficult feat?
