Austrian accent - Vienna accent 

He was born in an area of Austria that had a lot of native Germans. At least that’s what I remember.

I too am Australian, albeit descended from Germany rather than Austria!

100 % agreed; i m Austrian and that is how they speak English in vienna, g’schissena (=defecated one)

He has a strong Bavarian accent they wouldn’t let him do the voice dub in German cause he sounds like a country boy I’ve heard. I have a fren and he’s a zoomer and sounds like him but much smoother when speaking English that I wish I knew more German so I could hear it in both

It's because of the example he used from "Burn After Reading". In real life, it sounds vaguely bored and always ever so slightly miffed.

He speaks Svhönbrunner Deutsch though, no? Thats very different from the Viennese Working Class Dialects thats usually portrayed as the typical V dialect

Come to think of it, there really are very few, if any, examples of an honest-to-God, dyed in the wool Berliner dialect in public media. Not even Babylon Berlin, and what there is watered down to what I call "TV dialect", that only hints at it. The closest I could think of was the fish-ou-of=water episode of the old TV murder mystery "Der Bulle von Tolz", in which a provincial police inspector needs to travel to Berlin to investigate. ONe of his leads is an old woman whose Berliner dialect rivals his Bavarian to a point where they both nearly need a translator. It was all very amusing.

More like Georg Friedrich. Günther Steiner is from South Tyrol and speaks a different kind of Austrian. Or which Günther Steiner do you mean?

South Tyrol belongs to Italy. It was a part of Austria before World War 1, but was given to Italy after Austria lost this war. They really have their own dialect

Yep he is Austrian

He grew up in Braunau am Inn, a border town to Bavaria. That's what he most sounded like. In Vienna he would have been made as somebody from the provinces the minute he opened his mouth.
