I make educational videos about things I'm interested in, mostly places, languages and people. Sometimes they are slightly funny (as in "German funny").
W are actually pronounced V : ve vent to a pop to have a drinkh vis our frrrientz, and ve had a lot of fon ! (we went to a pub to have a drink with our friends and we had a lot of fun). 😅
Hahaha. 😂😂 You nailed it. I speak Hochdeutsch with slightly Norddeutsch accent (Schleswig-Holstein) but, I really love Swiss German accent. It's awesome. Sounds very much like Flemish (Belgian Dutch) (I speak it as well). The way they pronounce "r" is amazing.
I enjoyed this so much. I would have liked to hear a comparison of the Swiss German story to German accent as well. I used to have a severe speech impediment when I was a child. I took speech lessons at school every day for three years of grade school. My parents recorded me telling a Christmas story when I was 11 years old. By then, I had improved greatly - they and my speech therapist said. But there was still a thick sound in my speech even then. Eventually, I worked it out, but when I am tired, very tired, it will show up again. I can't imagine what I sounded like before I began therapy. It sounded correct to my ears, but wasn't. For instance, the girl in my Christmas story was named Anna, and it sounded to my ears like I was saying "Anna" like the "a" in "At" but it was coming out like "Onna" or "sauna". When I was younger, my parents friends would think I had a German accent, why? No, it's a speech impediment, she is taking speech therapy. Kids said I sounded German or something. No, it's a speech impediment, but I am taking speech therapy. The other kids in my speech therapy classes sounded like Elmer Fudd, but I sounded like a German accent. So I thought I would, after all these years, check out German accents.
Wie Lemay später sagte: "If we had lost the war, we all would have been prosecuted as war criminals."
I have to apologise because you actually didn’t reveal your personal opinion about the reconstructions. Should have watched it right to the end before commenting on it.
I love the reconstructions. They should do more of this. And I don’t care what you think of it TC Jacobi. It is surely at least ten times better than what there was before.
I was going to Münich, brushing up on my German. and passed over in Zürich haha! I would compare the High German I was learning to Heavy Metal music versus the Swiss German, as a harp!
i gotta say i love swiss-german (not sure which one specifically) i am trying to learn the unique swiss words lately actually. i soooooo love the word for chaos "Chrüsimüsi" it's soooo happy and energetic! or the word for "mouse" i think it goes "Müsli" and i love that so much!
My family was Bernese Swiss that came to America at the turn of the century. My grandfather spoke perfect german even though he was a poor boy from a rural area of America. Germans always wanted to hear him speak his "hillbilly German " which was just Bernese Swiss dialect. I'm american so I don't totally understand the differences 😂
Nice channel. Look at all those views already! Frankfurt, the so called “black sheep” of German cities (presumably because of all the skyscrapers) is one of my favorite! 👍
Absolutely brilliant. Between 1:30 and 2:22 I almost fell off my chair laughing😂 Totally relatable as many swiss friends sound just like this when speaking english. On the subject of the KHhhh sound 2:27 how about the Chäschüechli?
No one will forget about the Nazis or World War II, no matter what is built or rebuilt. Frankfurt is usually merely an airport hub for most of us traveling, but I would stay a couple of nights and spend some money there to see this feature. And and, it will eventually become old, too!
Good job! You could still work on the ("Meidlinger") L. That's something hard to acquire as a Non-Austrian, and hard to suppress when you grew up with it.
