This review is brilliant. Thanks a lot, especially the choice of songs helped me a lot. I ordered them, sounds great for me!

The only video right now that compare the beyerdynamic vs the HI-X60, thank you so much. I am wondering how is it compare to the DT-700 Pro X ? 👌
@RoccoDylon69
@RoccoDylon69 Год назад
Bought the DT-700 Pro X, overall good, very good, but very bass-heavy. The sound is quiet unnatural to me. And dark sounding. I'm likely to send them back. I have the Shure SRH1540 and these Austrian Audio Hi-X60 on order, they should be delivered this Monday... My reference headphones I own are the Hifiman Eidtion XS. I'm now looking for a closed-back that bring 80% of its qualities, in a closed-back design XD

THIS is a headphone review. 😎🤟 Would you recommend them now for casual listening for those who do no like excessive bass that is typical on most mainstream headphones such as Beats? Are they treble forward to where the cymbals and guitars and keyboards/piano sound like you're in the studio?
@martinmixing
@martinmixing 2 года назад
Hey, thanks, glad it is helpful! Yes, if you are not liking Beats, then these are definitely a good alternative. They are quite flat, but have a slight HiFi sound to them which is very pleasant as it gives some joy to the listening experience, unlike the HD650 which are ruler flat and boring. The X60 improved dramatically with a good DAC, I use the Violectric Chronos and the combination is great. It reduces the harshness a bit and opens up the bottom nicely. I'd say the X60 have nice treble, but not like AKG headphones, which to my ears sound like just treble and nothing else. The one thing to keep in mind is that the X60 has a rather large plug, so if you are plugging them into your iPhone and put the phone in your pocket it might damage the plug/phone while walking. The X60 isolate quite well too, so I'd happily use them on a plane or train as well.

Hi and thanks for a good review. I’m looking for an upgrade from my ath m50x. Need closed back headphones as I both record and mix with them. I have been looking at the Hi-60x but get a little worried if they lack low end. Would you recommend these or some other headphones in this price range?
@martinmixing
@martinmixing 2 года назад
Hey Tommy, so the more I used these, the more I have gotten used to the way it handles low end. The truth is, it has plenty of it, if the recorded material also has it :) It doesn't compress the bass like some cheaper headphones, so it gives a really accurate representation of what you are working on. I like them a lot. Maybe for recording they are a bit too precious, I'd not give them to a drummer, so maybe have a look at the indestructible Beyerdynamic DT770 and its versions, like the Pro and 700X. Those have plenty of bass and are solidly built!

in most cases, the lack of low end on headphones can be remedied with a more powerful/higher end amp/dac.

thanks man, I have a Violectric Chronos on the way, maybe that'll help! I'm looking for a good travel solution so have to consider weight and dimensions.

I'm wondering if this is true. I used to use FiiO K5 Pro for my Hi-X65 and I find it lacking in the low end especially the bass. When I upgraded to Topping E50 & L50 combo, suddenly there is a significant boost on the bass region. The headphone suddenly sounded more full. However does this apply to all amps though (high end = bass boost)?
@BobMarley-zu5sc
@BobMarley-zu5sc Год назад
@@kato2395 The fiio k5 pro vs topping e50/l50 shouldn't make that much of a difference in the bass. Maybe you were pushing them louder?
@kato2395
@kato2395 Год назад
@@BobMarley-zu5sc no I am very very sure, perhaps it also depends on the headphone you use. If you use a transparent bright studio headphone it is very very noticeable. I am currently using Austrian Audio Hi-X65. It is also pretty noticable in my Grado SR325X. I do notice the difference sound less prominent in darker and veiled headphones like the Philip Fidelio X2 and Sennheiser PC38X.

I'd say they are similar. For monitoring/recording I'd place more importance on durability and comfort, I'd defo go with the 770s

Beyer Dynamic squeeze my head; I can't wear them for than a few minutes. I tried the latest model as well. It's more annoying than painful. Will try these Austrian Audio headphones.

Hey, I haven't tried those unfortunately, so can't comment. But the Shure seem very well built and quite pricey, I'd rather go up a price class when considering an upgrade. I'm working with the HD650 and Hi-X60 now, they complement each other amazingly. Especially the HD650 are like my Neumann monitors on my ears, so everything translates amazingly. The Hi-X60 then add a slightly more HiFi reference.

The X55 are considered by many the worst sounding headphone around. Me included. I assume these exist to fix those huge problems. X65 is pretty decent, but there are cheaper and superior options for music listening without EQ at least.
@annekedebruyn7797
@annekedebruyn7797 Год назад
@@hartyewh1 The X55 are great for finding issues in mixes. You should see them as Sony 7506's or NS10 for that matter. Sounds horrible but will make your mixes sound nice. It's the workingmans headphone. Not one you enjoy at home with a good o'sigar and whiskey.

Have you actually broken the Austrian Audio's in? The fact that you said they have more top end than the Beyer 770s seems weird. Literally everything I have read says the opposite. And I owned the beyers for years, so I know they are uncomfortably toppy... In reality, you really need to play headphones loud, constantly for at least 12 hours before they actually work as intended. Not to say you haven't done that, but in my experience headphones tend to sound brittle in general until they have had a really good amount of loud audio through them.
@jno8039

for me the Austrian sound awful, really boxy. The build quality is great, but the sound is more important, here it's an epic fail.
