There is a better way to raise and lower volume. You can swipe up/down and then hold, the volume will continuously decrease/increase for as long as you hold.

Thanks for an informative video. In the future, please consider filling as much of the screen as possible with the cell phone display. Even with a 30" monitor, much of what I saw was blurry. Even so, I learned useful information and appreciate your knowledge.

Excellent tutorial wish you had went into more detail on 360° Reality AUDIO. I found it counter productive that I had to install yet another app and sign up for a trial subscription to be able to use the 360° Reality AUDIO setup function. All in all found the XM5 headphones to be an excellent choice if you are like me and prefer over-the-ear.

Correction: When placing your hand on the right ear cup, the playback is NOT paused. The volume is lowered and the ambient sound is turned on and the playback continues.

Hi! Thanks for the video. I've been using these for a couple weeks now and now I finally know how they work! Question: if I'm on a work call and I adjust the earphone so it comes a little bit off my ear, the audio disconnects and I can't get the audio back. So people are talking and they don't know I can't hear them. I have to drop out of the call and come back to get my audio back. Is there a way to avoid the audio shutting down when I move the earpad a little? I found the power off and pause settings... maybe that will help?

I hope the Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones go on sale at Best Buy this year for Black Friday 2023. I purchased the Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones last Black Friday 2022 for $228 at Best Buy saving me over $100. These Sony noise cancelation headphones are awesome and it sounds like being at the movies wearing them watching my 2022 Samsung S95B OLED 4K Smart Television. I seem to be the only one that purchased these headphones only to use with my Bluetooth Samsung 4K OLED Smart Television.

Yes we would choose it over the Bose. And you would be able to use these as a regular headset for conference calls or phone calls. It has a high quality mic.

That would be a sign they are broken. If they are still in warranty you should contact the Sony dealer you purchased them from or send them in to Sony for repair if they are out of warranty.

How do you talk to someone for a long period of time when you are using the Sony WH - 1000XM5? I do know about 3:08 but, nothing is mentioned in the video about talking to someone for long periods of time. It makes it seem as if you always have to do 3:08 to talk to someone and start talking in order to have a conversation with someone>

You either take your headphones off - the music automatically stops. Or you pause your music and turn on ambient mode, but people will wonder why you are talking to them while wearing headphones :D

@@AudioAdvice Thanks, also I feel when turn off the Noise Cancelling still it works (upto an extent) I tried with high traffic and construction audio effect, and tested recording the call (using phone inbuilt call recording from my end). It seems it was also cancelling my voice as my voice was more robotic/muffled as soon as I was increasing the noise. Now I really made my self confused after trying this. Please note that I don't have ambient control on for automatic detection.

Is it possible to disable the wear detection sensor? I swapped my earcups for thicker suede ones because the stock thin ones were getting uncomfortable after wearing for a long period of time. But now with the thicker ones the sensor thinks i am not wearing the headset when I am so turns off the noise passthrough and then turns off the headset :/

@@Ohkeh640 Nope, it's not possible to completely disable it. You can disable the automatic power off feature, but it will still disable the ambient noise passthough when it thinks you're not wearing the headset. What i eventually done was dissasembled the headset, took the sensor off its plastic mount. Then lengthened the wires from the sensor as there isnt much wiggle room. Then glued some little plastic blocks to the old mount, then stuck the sensor back to the new raised blocks. That way the sensor is closer to my ear so it knows when I'm wearing it correctly. Honestly it was a pain in the ass. Would not recommend aftermarket thicker cups

Its a little tricky, you need an android phone and you have to get into the developer options to turn it on. Google search your phone and you should see the steps.

Hello .. I am a skinny guy with a narrow face and actually my xm5 fit perfectly with a medium fit on my ears .. but actually it is not tight and displaces slightly when I try to grab something on the ground . Is that normal that xm5 are a little loose.. ?

They do not have the strongest clamping force we've tried for headphones so that may be normal if you have a narrow face.

Odd problem, the connection is bluetooth so you would think it would not be app specific. Maybe reinstall the YT app or play around with its settings

, Yes it is odd problem. I tried to remove it and disabled it. Other video apps and music apps are working fine. Except for RU-vid, it plays loudspeaker, not my headphones. Played around with the RU-vid setting, but still no luck.

I heard you mention Dolby Atmos but that isn't used on these headphones. The air pods max, and pro 2s use Dolby Atmos with spatial audio, these use 360 reality audio like you mentioned, this doesn't go along with Dolby Atmos.

Don't buy them... the headbands break in under 12 months and Sony won't replace their poor engineering , instead they expect you to pay another 60% on the original purchase price to get an 'upgrade' . Not to mention the other issues like, sound and mic dropping out mid call.. unit turns off even though fully charged... changing settings randomly and can only change it back on the app... go elsewhere.. Sony has created a really expensive disposable item

These headphones have the WORST microphone you can image for making calls. Literally sounds like you are hiding in a bunker and trying to talk via 2 yogurt plastic cups and a rope. Don't buy if you ever think of talking on them. They do have great sound for JUST LISTENING TO MUSIC. Otherwise, avoid like the plague.
