The name Camogli has a double interpretation:
In genoese dialect, “camoggi” means “houses piled up together”, on the other hand, the second translation “houses of the wives” refers to the fishing tradition, according to which, the village was mostly inhabited by the wives of the fishermen while they were away ⛵️
The houses were richly decorated and painted so that the sailors could easily identify the harbour from the sea 🌊
