Author William Keck will join us for An Author’s Afternoon live in The Locher Room on Wednesday, July 10th at 3 p.m. ET / 12 p.m. PT. William will be here to tell us about his new book, "When You Step Upon A Star: Cringeworthy Confessions of a Tabloid Bad Boy” The book is out on July 11th.
William began his career working for TV titan Aaron Spelling and as an NBC and CBS studio page before turning his focus to journalism and television production. He has worked as a staff reporter for the National Enquirer and USA Today, a senior editor and columnist for TV Guide, a regular contributor to People, Us Weekly, Closer Weekly, Entertainment Weekly, and so much more.
In the book, William draws from his three decades working as an entertainment reporter.
He confesses ALL about his most memorable celebrity encounters that (for one reason or another) went horribly wrong. Far more than a shocking admission of past sins, the book chronicles the repentant author’s own evolution from a lonely only child obsessed with Hollywood stars, to an eager tabloid snoop keeping personal secrets of his own, to a well-respected journalist who ultimately learns from his mistakes, changes his wicked ways and befriends the celebrities he’d once wronged.

Great one micheal and hear I forgot Melrose place had a gay charecter played by Laura Leightons real life husband. Anyway micheal I don't know if you watched days today yet or not yet. but with leo while they did introduce a new gay charecter for leo. Rather than it be more like what we discussed before or looks like it's going to be a dud and sadly it looks like leo is going back to such a shallow unlikable charecter. And Micheal now I remember something else Ron did that sent a bad message too and it's that murdering charecter that pretended to be gay with sonny kariokis while will was in jail but really he slept with Jordan bens sister but then murdered her. That sent a very bad message as most straight people would never pretend to be gay or even seduce a gay person for such dumb reasons and again only fuels the extreme with their see gay people are pedophiles. Stuff. Anyway it was an enjoyable interview and micheal don't forget moonlighting big man on mulberry street that episode Alan has heard me reference a bunch of times concerning pushing bounderies with a gay storyline or revelation at a time when ABC was not at all open to anything gay at all. Which would change 2 years later but be relagated to the 10 pm hour with thirty something.

@@benjaminautieri9606 up late I guess benjamin a great one today Alan William pretty much went over almost all of my favorite classic TV shows that were not soaps except dynasty. Which was a nightime soap. And benjamin I agree with micheal too ohh benjamin y and r needs to get back on track it was doing so well since 2020 but ever since this new ep in charge of production came in Steve Kent it's starting to look bad and I am sick of the overunning the show with mental illness and now Sharon acting strange and Victor and Jack going at it again no summer Kyle reunion and sorasing Harrison to be claires age amd do that pairing instead of Kyle Claire. And setting up dynamics for Colleen to return briefly as Jordan. And have her terrorize Claire Al's then hsve Harrison pull a 1989 Paul Ryan. And benjamin if you want to see the original with Colleen Andy kavovit and melenie Smith go back to 1989 atwt and you can even see Gregory beecroft play brock Lombard but from what I understand unlike gl where he played Tony Reardon he did have some issues at atwt with some of his costars. And of course benjamin if you get to December 1989 you can see Ellen Dolan take over for Hilary Smith in the role of Margo the original Maureen buar.

❤🎉👋 Alan this is one of your best interview and episode. I highly enjoyed this. William and l would be such fast friends. Our love for TV , the National Enquirer or as l called it the National Intruder 😂. Looks like l will be having a book signing party for him soon. Thank you for this delicious event down memory lane. I have ordered my copy of this book and I can’t wait to read it because I’m nosy😂😂. I also purchased a copy for one of my friends who is a professor of television and film and I just know he’s going to love it as well. I even sent him a copy of this episode. I know he’s going to be able to relate to a lot all the best to you both.

Alan I felt so spoiled this afternoon because I am a TV lover too of all those classic shows from the old days. And Alan concerning gay on TV you had producers and shows trying like dynasty which I forgot about with Steven Carrington who was gay the first season then ABC told Aaron speling and the Shapiros to get rid of Stevens gayness and Heather lochlear was brought in. But then magically when the dynasty reunion movie happened Stephen was gay again but still had Sami jo as an ex wife. Which looked kind of sloppy considering when the show ended it looked like Steven and Sami jo were going to get back together. I think it might have been more interesting and made it look less sloppy if by the reunion movie if they just clarified Steven was Bisexaul or tried that back when ABC said get rid of the gayness. Or moonlighting Alan with big man on mulberry street pushed the bounderies again with David Addison revealing to Maddie he had been married but fibbing to Maddie and saying he caught his wife in bed with another man. But then Maddie showing up to Davids exs brother in laws funeral or after party meeting Davids ex wife and getting the revaluation that it was not a man. but another women while David did not even show up for the funeral but Maddie understanding and feeling for David but never telling David she knew the truth. Sadly the show never mentioned it again as I think that episode ruffled some feathers at ABC. But still pretty bold. And that was 1986. But Alan either way just to hear a bunch of primetime shows I loved mentioned was such a treat.
