@@olhaihnatenko3189 Main culprit is adult ADHD with some autism sprinkled on top. Only issue is the doctor explain ADHD to me afterwards so I have spent most of today studying what it all means! haha

getting an assessment in 2 days, I've been waiting for about a year so I'm pretty nervous Edit: very late update, but the assessment went great. I meet the criteria for ASD and I've now gotten my official diagnosis. :)
45 minutes to an hour? I'm in the US and my assessment was about 5 hours. That seemed fairly common for the doctor I went to, but it makes me wonder what the difference is. From your description we did all of the same things, but it just took a lot more time. They did have me filling out personality and behavioral assessments though for about an hour and a half. I don't get my results until Thursday, but I'm eagerly awaiting them. 28 years old and I don't know how much difference it will make in my day to day life, but I'm glad I did this anyway

Wow, this not informative at all as all it states is there will be an assessment. It provides no information regarding the makeup of the assessment. It almost seems like a troll video, but on such a topic would be so distasteful. The comments below don’t add up either. Hopefully this is not offensive, but genuinely terrible learning content 🤨
So how does it accomplish the reassurement as it never delves into the actual assessment? In other words this tells you you’re about to be interviewed, but nothing about what you’ll be interviewed for. Imagine knowing the information from the video and then partaking in a sensitive Q&A. I would feel downright uncomfortable during the preceding questions.
James McNally right. So if you had that fear and a interrogation were to occur after this brief interaction then this video wouldn’t suffice into providing reassurement. However if you were to see what occurred afterwards to get an idea of what a complete session entails you would be reassured that it is/is not an interrogation based on your perspective.
James McNally I think the point of the video is to provide insight for someone not familiar with the process to holistically understand it and not have to assume. Elliott Kane don’t worry I got scared too when I went to the doctors. I had to see two doctors and they both told me I’m not autistic then I got a call a month later saying I’m going to have my ADOS test as I think one doctor researched autism in females. Just try and list down all your symptoms and explain it the doctor the best that you can. All the best😊
It makes sense to be worried. I was too! It's ultimately up to you. You can educate yourself + then assess the pros vs cons of pursuing a diagnosis to see if it's right for you.

I had an assessment as a child but emigrated to UK before it completed, was assessed at high school but I didn't comply. Got my official asd dx 4 years ago, it would benefit me at uni, it's a rollercoaster of emotions after your dx but bear with it and focus on the future xx
I'm 30 years old and I just realised I have autism, now I have come to the conclusion that other people are not like me I taught people were all the same as me all my life lol I was always very quiet and didn't speak very much this is why everyone didn't know. I have figured I have it because I have had all the same traits my 3 year old son has growning up. Now that I understand myself I further my education/career no matter what it maybe because I can anything I want this is the great thing about having autism we have an amazing mind that wants to better the world and help people around us.
The sound on this is so quiet that I have my PC up full and can barely hear it. What I can hear is an annoying woman saying "Yeah" before everything she says. Enough for me to turn it off.

saying "it is nothing to worry about" perhaps isn't perhaps the best thing to say. It is like saying sleep well and make sure all your doors and windows are locked (oh no is someone going to try and break in when I am asleep?)
I remember when I was in 3rd grade, I would have to skip the mornings at school bc of my autism assessment and I didn’t know what autism was- so I had no clue, and they would ask me questions, do fun stuff, and stuff like that. I remember having to do this test on a computer and I cried cuz it was very long.
how do I get the appointment.. Do I just go to my psychiatrist and say I would like to get tested on wether or not I have autim? or how does that go? I'M really nervous about talking about that bc I dont want anyone to think I'm self diagnosing or something.. I just don't know how making an appointment is gonna go so I wanna be prepared for asking for the appointment as good as possible
Why do they say have it and not am it? And they are the supposed professionals. It seems inherently patronising. I'd say it is something "I am" and proud of it. You can't be ashamed or afraid of yourself

(I'm in the United States for reference) I scheduled an appointment to see my regular health doctor, and when they asked me what I was in for that day, I told them that I believe I am autistic and that I'd like to try to get official results from a professional. I also provided a list of all the reasons why I think I'm autistic (all my experiences and traits that resonate with me). That's when they referred me to see a psychiatrist, and now my appointment to see them is June 21st. Hope this helps!
I was supposed to be checked for autism when I was 5 but my parents refused. I'm still 14 and my symptoms are still apparent, but my parents still refuse. What do I do? At this point, is it even necessary?

I just got referred by my doctor to see a psychiatrist. Soonest appointment they had was six weeks out. I'm eagerly awaiting my appointment on June 21st, and even then, it's not going to be the official assessment quite yet. This one will just be talking more to my psychiatrist about why I think I am autistic. I fear that my official assessment appointment will end up being another ten months out or so. Who knows. But I could definitely keep you updated if you'd like! And I'd love to hear how things are going for you as well. :)
Hi, my doctor requested an autism assessment for me in January 2021. The appointment never came until September 2021. Now I have my second assessment in August 2022. It's a very long waiting list.
