Good morning, Kim and Levi! You didn’t “harp” on the autism, YOU didn’t define Levi as AUTISTIC, you treated him normally. You didn’t “lean” on his autism as an excuse for him not to do things. You still treat him normally. That’s the way all kids should be treated. You are doing an awesome job, Kim! Thank you for sharing yours and Levi’s story. Be safe! Prayers and Blessings always

I remember when Lester was trying to get you to start a channel and I see you have hit the ground running! Kim I admire you so much! You knew what you wanted for your child and stood your ground. After all a parent knows their child more then anyone else! You are such a strong lady and there is nothing you cannot/will not undertake! It saddens me that it took so long for the medical world to embrace the Autism spectrum. Blessings~

KIM IS STUNNING AND ICONIC!!!!! thank you for sharing Levis story and Levi with us!!! at 31 I only found out I was autistic untill a year or so ago. Everyone knew I was different but I was never raised as the different one. It is one of the biggest factors of my life I cherish that i was loved unconditionally, educated the same and held accountable for bad behaviour just like everyone else. This is shaped my life in my own self worth, knowing im different but still a part of my community and know how I deserve to be treated to be treated by others.

My middle son was diagnosed with Autism at 22 months. He didn’t have much dexterity to grab stuff. Lack of eye contact. Babbled and we couldn’t understand him, which caused a lot of frustration. They explained that he was dropping his initial consonants that we were able to decipher what he was saying. He called me Um, his dad Addy. He started talking clearer at age 5 and it was like he decided it was time. You gotta be strong and be your child’s biggest advocate. Great job Kim!

Thank you for sharing Levi's story. We have 2 autistic kids, 1 is 14, she struggles with communication cues, social skills, keeping friends, but she has came a long way, she is a typical kid, just has some struggles. We have another who is almost 9, he will be 9 on Thursday. He struggled with speech, that is when I knew something was wrong when he was around 18 months I started questioning. He has always been in the mainstream, and can now talk your ear off. We now homeschool both of them so they can work on their own pace and I can adapt curriculum to their needs. These kids are such a joy to be around, they bring laughter and off the wall thinking. :) happy autism awareness month!

Thank you Kim for sharing your journey. Every child is different and I love your approach to autism. I used to volunteer with an autism social group where as kids progressed the did more activities. We had kids who were nonverbal, kids who talked, a little guy with Downs syndrome and autism, the best part was forming relationships with several of the kids. One little guy, thick glasses and a feeding tube was the funniest little guy...curious about everything and full of questions. Every Journey is different. I didnt talk until 4 1/2 and had sensitivities to smells, sound and temperature. Love animals and talk to them before people. Levi is awesome. That memory, contagious laugh and those lists.💙💙💙💙💙 Happy Autism Awareness Month...ps I can see why he always got something from sonic...he was a cutie

Thank you for your story of Levi. You guys are the best. My Mom’s cousin was born with Down Syndrome. He was our age, 20 years younger than his siblings. No one ever treated Melvin differently because of his (dis)ability. We all thought he was just one of us. As he got older & his parent’s knew he couldn’t drive a vehicle as we all did, they got him a golf cart to drive on their property. He loved life & didn’t let anything hold him back. He passed away this year at 64! I miss him, so thank you for sharing Levi with us.

I definitely understand. I have an autistic son too. He is 11. My son was 3 and wasn’t talking we knew something was not right. We had a wonderful speech therapist who guided us in the right direction and a great ABA company who helped us so much! My son wouldn’t be where he is today if it wasn’t for them. My son is been in a regular class for 2 years now and he is doing so good with help. He would be able to tell Kim how to get from her house up to mine in north Texas. He knows exactly where everything is in Texas.

I love you and Levi, Kim ❤️ thank you for making this video. My only sister, 4 years younger, is autistic. She was technically labeled aspergers and is high functioning. Although I think those terms are outdated now. She is 21 and at Michigan state university. We are so proud that she has gone off to college. It is not easy even with someone “high functioning”…she lacks empathy and can be very cold (wants nothing to do with anyone). I hope for a day when she can be more loving and we have a better relationship. It puts a big smile on my face to see the love between you and Levi, he is so special and I’m sure you are everything to do with that because you are amazing too. The morrows are the only social media people I follow and it is strange for me to feel so close to a family who has no idea who I am. I watch all your videos and get excited for the next. Thank you Kim, have a great day

Hi Leah. I have problems with empathy being autistic also. Please dont expect her to change something she doesnt have a choice in. Empathy is somewhat surface level but we feel deep emotions more intensely then the normal person, but it often comes out the wrong way or not at all. If shes cold rather then expecting body language or a reaction ask her to describe what shes feeling. Changing the approach of communication between the who of you may show you her in a much different light

@@saintxbarbie thank you for the insight and I promise it’s not an expectation of change. It’s more of a hope for maturity later in life. She doesn’t want anything to do with me because she doesn’t want anything to do with anyone. She is my only sibling and I would do anything to at least have a relationship. But she has no interest in my life only her own. My moms best friend has a son who is very similar and when he reached his thirties he wanted more to do with everyone and wasn’t so mean. That’s all I hope for. I am not a hugging type anyway 🙂

@@saintxbarbie... Thank you for sharing that suggestion. I have a friend with an adult daughter that has autism. I make jewelry, I prefer to wear colorful and unique pieces. Linda, the daughter, doesn't want contact or communication. I have caught her staring at a bracelet, necklace or earrings I'm wearing. I made a necklace similar to one she watched the most. The next time I saw her I placed the necklace on the counter, told her it was hers and continued to drink my coffee. She petted the necklace for a bit, picked it up and held it to her cheek. It was a lariat style necklace so it could slip over your head without using the clasp. She didn't understand how to wear a necklace so I removed and replaced mine and she watched every move. She was successful on her first attempt! I had tears in my eyes, it was so awesome seeing her happiness. Since then when I visit their home she sits beside me. If I lay my hand on the island she places her hand near mine - almost touching. One time I took compatible components and 'we' made her a matching stretch bracelet. She selected every piece on the bracelet. That day she actually laid her head against my shoulder! Such a milestone!! Her Mother and I were delighted. I want to discuss your suggestion with her Mother. She may prefer to handle that talk, she may prefer I do it - or wait. I know she wants what is best for her daughter, that's totally understandable.

My son Jason is autistic too, he is 43, and yes he can drive me crazy repeating everything, he has a few chores that he does , he’s very. Repetitive, but the one thing i have learned is that autistic people are so innocent, so trusting, never lie, i think they are the most pure people on earth, And they are happy cause they don’t know anything else And isn’t that what we all strive for to be happy

Kim is an amazing person, a wonderful Mother, an animal lover and a talented craftsperson. She is the total package! She raised her sons to be strong, respectful men. Obviously she was highly successful. I admire how Kim doesn't say 'I have an autistic son' - she says 'I have a son that has autism'. Autism doesn't define Levi - he is much more than that. Words can be powerful. It's a form of respect. Kim is bringing a better understanding of autism via her channel, that will have an amazing trickle-down impact. Knowledge is power. A wall is built one brick at a time.

Kim, thank you for sharing your and Levi's story. My sister has been a para for about 20 years now. She thinks like you do. She has been recognized in every school and state that she has worked in. She treats the kids as kids and expects them to act like kids vs something else. Every child she has worked with has improved. A couple of the kids she worked with over the summers so her own kids treated them just like one of their friends. Common sense and love. You are doing a great job as Levi's mom.

Kim, I think you've done an amazing job raising Levi. The minute people start putting labels on their children and claiming their disabilities as something that holds them back that's when I feel like we've messed up yes Levi may not be able to do everything that his brothers do, but he still needs to know right from wrong and be held accountable. Which is exactly and precisely what you are doing. I have seen the way way way too many parents who have children that have any spectrum of autism coddle their children and feel sorry for their children and raise them differently and not hold them to any standards and it has literally destroyed the children's lives. God bless you woman for everything that you do! I do not feel that you harp on autism I feel that you show a wonderful example of how to be a parent to a child with something that may be off-kilter, but completely lovable ❤

Thank you for sharing your story. We have two "neurotypical" children and two who are on the spectrum. We also felt it was important to raise our kids the same regardless of disability. I think for us we struggled more with getting a diagnosis than autism itself. My daughter is a lot like Levi in that she remembers everything and she was developmentally delayed. PDD-NOS was her original diagnosis at age 3. She didn't start talking until she was 5. She was diagnosed with autism at age 9. My son was diagnosed with Tourettes, ADHD, Sensory processing disorder, and something else that I can't remember at age 5 because he did not have developmental delays. He was diagnosed with autism at age 6 at the same time that his sister was diagnosed and his previous diagnosis were removed. We went for my daughter's first appointment with the developmental pediatrician and she asked why she wasn't seeing my son. She said he has autism too. I should be seeing him with Leah. I filled out all of the scales and papers and both were diagnosed with high functioning autism at different levels.

When I had my boys, my oldest had a best friend, they did and went everywhere together. When you mentioned that girl waving her hand it immediately reminded me of him, when excited he would flail his arms around and shake his hands and all with the biggest smile on his face. His parents did the same as you Kim, treated him no different then they would have anyone else. I was never told he had Autism because they didn't want him treated differently and he wasn't, he got growled at when getting to rowdy like anyone else lol. I loved how later in life he had dreams of going into the Navy but unfortunately it didn't pan out to be. I love how Levi expresses love in kidding around with you, I love his giggles. I was born with a physical disability where I now use a manual wheelchair full time. I had a great doctor when I was a kid that advised my parents to get me in the water so that’s what they did and it helped me tremendously! Well when I was a young adult I started volunteering with an adaptive aquatics program where volunteers worked one on one in the water with participants of all ages and abilities. It was while volunteering with this program that I was introduced to the autism community. We had three young boys who had worked up to the level where they were able to swim in the lap pool and actually learn the techniques of swimming properly. I learned so much about autism with these three young men.

Kim U are a great mom especially with Levi. I agree he probably was having headaches & thats why he was crying. My youngest son had problems & so I got progress reports everyday to know how he was doing & if he had something he needed to do for the next school day or if he was bad. I would go stop in whenever & at different times while he was in school. I would walk up behind him & ask him if he was listening. One of his teachers put him in a cardboard box in the back of the classroom. I took him out & told that teach to NEVER PUT MY SON IN THERE AGAIN‼️ In 7th grade my son tested out as a 10th grade math but his reading was in the 4th grade level. He attended regular classes for certain studies & others he went into the special needs classes. He did really. good until he got into high school & he moved into his birth mother's home & he quit school. He ended up getting his GED.

Kim, I loved your video. My son also has autism; he was diagnosed at 3. Thank you for sharing. My picture, you see, on here is a picture of him; his name is Alexander! Totally agree with you on the teacher aspect I've run into a few so far all have been wonderful but some the EA not so much my son now has one who shouldnt be in the special needs room. Totslly agree as well i want Alexander to be as main stream and with children who are verbal not so much non i have been experiencing this to in the classroom hes in now which he won't be next fall kids hit, shout etc. To where I see Alexander being very annoyed and displaced. He doesn't connect well, and I need him to be social . I agree its not always a good fit for them to only be with special needs; I love seeing you and Levi videos! Stay well. God blessed 🙌 Alexander also had the eye crossing when he was born in both and had surgery at 1.5. Mainly Alexander struggled with speech and communication but is thriving now with a speech pathologist and age he's 8. I am grateful for all the resources we have here in Canada 🇨🇦 he has been in special programs 4-8 next year and probably all through high school years, but I also raise Alexander as a regular boy! You did an amazing job with Levi. We can all see. God bless.

Love you Kim and Levi. I have a grandson that was non verbal until after he was 3. Started him in PT and OT and they started working with him and us with basic sign language, appropriate for his age, and then he started becoming more verbal, however if he got frustrated he would fall back on signing. He is now a young teen and is completely mainstream in school, and doing great. He was "labeled " as being mildly autistic, before we got him into therapy. Since I am not allowed any contact with him now, I really don't know how he is doing, all I ever "hear" is he is doing good and that nothing is wrong with him...

Kim I Venture a guess that within the next couple weeks Levi will have as many Clint Black CDs as you do sifters! 🙂 You know the good-hearted viewers that love you and Levi, will be sending them in droves! We love you Levi, and You too Kim! One of my favorite videos ever, was when Jami and Lester were at your house in the front yard talking to you, and Levi wanted to give Jami a list of what he wanted her to get him for christmas, so he gives her a big grocery bag full of papers with lists on them, and Lester said is that all for Jami? And Levi said yes, and then he went back in the house and got two more bags! Lester pulled out a paper and asked Levi to read to him what was on the list, then he pulled out another paper and asked him to read that list, I think he had him read three lists! I believe that was the first time we really met Levi. We may have seen him with you a couple of times before that, but that was the first time he really interacted with the camera, and everybody instantly fell in love with him! He's so sweet, and funny, and smart! 💗

My Cassie was special needs child. In my house disability was not used as everyone has disabilities, so we focused on abilities and the things we were not strong with we worked to improve. Here's to all the blessings we received.

You did a great job bringing up Levi… I believe that’s the best way to go about it no matter what disability kids have… you gave him expectations and he let you know what was his normal… does that make sense?

That was beautiful. I could relate to a lot of it because I have albinism and very poor eyesight. I and my brother both had it and we were raised the same as my other brother and sister and went to regular public school. We had a lot of difficulties but it made us stronger and gave us what we needed to get by in the world. There is a lady I follow on Facebook, she may be on youtube too but I follow her on Facebook. It is called The Educated Debutante she has four children and her youngest son, Amos age 8 has autism. She has a Ted Talk on RU-vid I think you might find interesting. It was funny and also brought me to tears. It is called Finding Joy Through Heartache | Adrian Wood. I think you and Levi are doing wonderfully. You can see the love you share.

Levi is such a handsome guy! You’re right, he is a blessing 🙏🏻 my best friend has a son with autism and I just adore him! He’s in his 20’s now and I was in the delivery room when she had him. He is the smartest, most loving person! I think that mainstreaming Levi was a smart choice on your part. He’s lucky to have such a great Mama and such a loving and supportive family! I look forward to seeing him in your videos. Love you both! ❤️🧡💛💚💙

Levi is a cutie!!! My favorite video is one that Lester made. It’s during the time when Levi was writing all of those lists for Jami. He was getting tons of packages and Lester was bringing them to the house when Kim wasn’t home. Levi met him on the porch and Lester kept telling him not to open them until his momma came home. He kept trying to make Levi promise him he wouldn’t touch them. Then Lester went to leave and he watched him and he got after the packages and Lester went back. It was so funny. Kim your are an amazing mother.

I just love you for normalizing life and not making things different. I used to watch Fathering Autism until I learned they duct taped PVC pipes from their autistic daughters shoulders to wrists because she would gag herself. They also lock her room from the outside at night so if there was a fire she would clearly not survive. Thanks for doing and being yourself, love to your and the family
