My speech therapist thought it was a good idea to make me sound like a toff. I was living on a council estate and people decided I was a snob and had to beat me up or just be rude. At the end of the course I was put on stage to recite a poem. I failed on my intonation. Other kids were taught to use their arms to express themselves.

@@earthdog9552 I had my speech therapy when I was about 8. When I was about 20 I was sent to a psychiatrist in an NPC because I stopped talking. I hadn't realised it. I had group therapy for 6 months and people say that I haven't stopped talking since.

Hello, Maria. I am a recently, retired RN with interest in the current massive use of Thalidomide in the USA over past 10 years. Nurses today know nothing about Thalidomide’s history. They are handling Thalidomide capsules with no knowledge of what this horrid drug is. I would like to converse if possible. I’m in Florida, USA.

Unfortunately ...you are correct.. but no drug company can b sued for their crimes ..,or brought to justice!..ADD is a mild form of autism .stay safe.

But first I have to tell you I don´t live in the US, I live in Guatemala, Central América, although me and my family lived in Mass. for some years when my father was studying and working at the Heartford Connecticut Hospital. But I was born in Guatemala. I got to know more about Thalidomide some 12 years ago, I like to think about myself as I woke up. I was so shocked about everything I found, I had to make my own research here, it took me more than 4 years to get the full story (but I am still finding out). Autism is definitely epigenetic. Vaccines likely play a roll for at least some kids, Hannah Polling was one of them.

@@chbu7081 How do you know? There were no long studies on the link between autism and vaccines. The studies were conducted for three weeks after vaccination. How possibly could they know that there was no link in three weeks? There is no science in denying this link simply because nobody studied accept dr Paul Thomas who was stripped of his license a year or two ago because of it.

@@aishkaa7087 There is also a study on homeschooled children, vaccine status and various conditions from allergies to autism. I believe the University of Mississippi did this study but it is limited. Their data shows a possible link between autoimmune diseases and learning disorders to vaccine status.

The only paper that also led much to that , which I myself was caught thinking it could be true, was the MMR study which were simply parents stating what you stated. That is not how you conclude anything other than raise awareness as to be looked into further. Nothing is proven so far with double blind studies; often placebo account when showing no proof is that no increased cases are seen in the control or placebo group.

@@MrPerfume1979 There were actually more than a dozen papers from that time period which epidemiologically linked the two in large cohorts and with high certaitny; up to 8x/controls and mostly authored by the CDC. Yu can get the pub numbers at RFK's site. Later in the mid-'10s, two groups of researchers demonstrated in steps the mechanism leading to it after pediatric shot administration. See: IL-4 (I think) and Dr. Zhibin Yao. Feel free to correct my spelling. In both animal models and human observation groups, still other researchers showed that it's the immune system reaction to pathogen or injected immune stimulant itself in juveniles that precipitates the condition which can either cease in a short time frame or perpetuate itself due to genetics and dosage/exposure.

Dr Christopher Exley published (two years ago?) a study of brains from people who had autism, their brains had huge amounts of aluminium in them, childhood vaccines are loaded with aluminium. Also, Dr Paul Thomas published the findings (last year?) of the children in his practice, autism and other illness was highly correlated with children receiving the full schedule-adjusted schedule-non vaccinated. Just two recent studies that should be calling the health authorities to stop dismissing the link and to look further. Instead, they pulled Dr Exleys funding, ordered him to no longer be able to do his research, even independently. Dr Thomas got hounded and had his licence suspended.

Correct. Speculation by parents should not be discredited to bring awareness to emerging issues but it is easy to jump to conclusions too so double blind studies are most empowered to offer clarity. Thank you for great comment!

Agree! There is genetic predisposition but genes function is still influenced by environmental factors. One interesting theory I heard was influence of altered microbiota. And that probably is only just one of many factors influencing this issue. Another possibility could be the aging of parents which influences the likelihood of spontaneous mutations, especially in fathers gametes. Good thoughts on this complex topic!

It's largely from heavy metals (mercury and aluminum) being passed on in utero-- and kids are also exposed to these metals via their routine childhood vaccinations.

Vaccines don't cause autism. That is what the studies have shown for years. The only 'study' that claimed that a vaccine caused autism was done by a fraud and has been debunked several times over.

@@chbu7081 this was actually never actually debunked. It’s just the narrative we’ve been told. There has been a lot of evidence pointing to it being a causative factor, as well as there being no relationship, so it is still inconclusive.

@@AllyGray It was debunked by many many studies of millions of children that showed no Correlation whatsoever. It was just one study of about a dozen children by a fraud who was getting paid by an organization, suing the vaccine manufacturer, to make up a link between the vaccine and something negative.There is nothing inconclusive about it.

Not sure what context you are referring to, but DNA testing for autism that are discussed are for post-birth. So these are for helping identify type of condition more specifically and determine how best help the affected child.

@Caleb Newman92 but wouldn't that be the point of this type of monitoring taking the genome and determining the co factors. One such study looked at women in first trimester exposed to war and sexual orientation was deviated from hetero. Another confirmed study was the use of phalates during all trimesters affecting the genome measurement between genitalia and anus and other progressions or lack thereof. I'm not aware of such a study for autism but I hope it has been studied as such.

@@WeJamWorld I wont deny that I am ignorant of many things. I am no microbiologist, and just because my girlfriend is, that still gives me only very limited insights into the field. I still stand by what I said. Most of the posts here tend to be political in nature. I am just stating my opinion based on my observations, not my uneducated opinion of mRNA, Salk or any other types of vaccines and their long or short term effects. The jury is still out and probably will be for a few more generations to come, but the overall mortality rate decrease from simple diseases due to vaccines is undeniable.

Yes, it is true. We are all given two lotteries at birth: our genetics and our environment. Some indeed are born with genetic predisposing to problematic conditions although now that can be somewhat mitigated by screening one's DNA prior to having children. Nevertheless, one's genetics outcomes can be mitigated to a degree with lifestyle choices (the environment). So pretty accurate comment but perhaps the responder did not like how it was said?

@@WeJamWorld Thanks, and I get it. It was a derogatory thing to say on my part. I get a little triggered when I consider birth defects or some kid that has childhood leukemia through no fault of their own. So I was kinda shooting from the hip there, but yea, medical malpractice insurance is definitely a thing for a good reason. Even when the doctor does everything correctly to the best of their knowledge, it is still just modern leachcraft in many ways, good genes or bad. We are only still just beginning to understand what flips certain genes on or off, and that is cause for both hope and horror to me. Peace, take care.
