2:14 Yes, to "respect for the elderly", I like to reply "how about respect for the younger people?". I also don't think that respect should depend on sex or age.

I have the same attitude with respect, I respect people automatically unless they do something to make me not respect them anymore

Great video, thanks Hollie. Got my ASD assessment on Monday and found your video very helpful and insightful. I definitely relate to the maturity thing, not phoning people, planning meals and the clingy behaviour. I completely agree with you about the society rule issue for eg; respecting your elders. I never got that as I’m all up for respecting elders, however, they need to respect me too 😊

Your experience is insanely similar to mine. I still watch Peppa Pig. As well as think most people are stupid, and do not understand their weird humor. The over analyzing thing is my life.

OMG, the clinginess and the being right thing I relate to very much, however "IF" I'm wrong I will say sorry. As for the phone thing I don't like, in fact I hate answering the phone to people I don't know, but for people I do know, and mostly people I like talking to, I can talk to them for hours some times up to or more than 12 hours, but that would be a combination of playing online and then talking after too. Anxiety and being in your own head, I'm there a lot too and it's the worst thing ever, it's really really destructive for me :( . It does show how vast the spectrum is, as you find these traits in autistic girls, yet I'm a guy with a lot of the same traits. I think it might be an environmental setting thing too maybe thinking about it? I never really mixed well with people my age either, they were either older or younger by a few years, how strange is that? :P Anyways great video and it's always nice to see another's point of view, although similarly with the I'll watch you r movie after we watch mine comment, there are just some I can't watch for a different view, it's just the way either that person has recorded it or....... just things have to be done in a way I'm most happy to learn lol if the person irritates me then sadly I will most likely not watch there stuff, no matter if it is good content or not, because I'll be too damn focused on the thing which is irritating me :( .

Like your videos!! And I love how you respect everyone the same!! Everyone needs to be that way. I totally relate to the whole thinking thing. My mind goes crazy haywire and I have a hard time relaxing it, until I used mindfulness meditation.

Great video Hols. Especially liked hearing you talk about teenage years. I think puberty and body image is a huge thing for autistic girls...and also starting relationships!! Big topic! I remember the trip to Florida...I definitely think you had some help with the planning 😜

I have been researching autism because we think my daughter is autistic. Haven't been able to get her tested yet, but we are very sure. From the research I have done I learned that dyslexia is on the autism spectrum. I was diagnosed with dyslexia when I was in elementary school and nobody even mentioned autism. Now I watch a video like this and realize how I relate to so much of it. 36 years old and just learning I might be autistic. Side note I believe my daughter is hyperlexic, because she started kindergarten reading at a 3rd grade level. That makes me really happy because dyslexia Fing sucks. It wasn't till middle school that I was really able to read on my own, and it wasn't till my late 20's that I was able to read well. I still have to rely on spellcheck and text to speech apps more then I would like, but I manage and that is what really matters. I really didn't want to see her struggle like I did.

women/afab people/minorities are diagnosed less bc the criteria in the DSM is based off of studies they did on white little boys . no official diagnostic research has been done on POC people , AFAB people, or even just people above the age of , say, like 10 (i don't know the age range for the study specifically) . thank you for this video i'm watching now! just wanted to reply with this information because u said u didn't know why AFAB people were diagnosed less:)

Another super video. Once again I think the traits you mention actually exist in both genders and across all ages - apart from the periods and PMT! As I’ve said before, the traits are always there but we can learn how to control them. With age we encounter new challenges and situations and we discover more traits that we may not have been aware of. Some of these might hold us back whereas others may motivate and propel us. If we are very lucky we can turn an obsession into something productive and even earn a living from it as our career. Keep going with these videos!

Yes I do agree with this 100% That’s what I hope that my obsession will be a career one day, as then it would mean I’d be good at what ever job I do and I’d be dedicated. Thanks for taking the time to comment it means a lot!

I never knew about the period emotionalness being an autistic thing. I do think I'm autistic, I've been learning about autism for a couple months and I'm strongly identifying with autistic people. I have a really tough time emotionally and then all the sudden my period will happen, it happened quite a bit before I made any connection that it was related, it would seem so severe like that i should do something drastic like break up with partner, run away, quit my job, etc

Me too, I'll ask my husband if he thinks what I'm saying is ok depending who I'm talking to. Like especially if I'm a little tense about the conversation, like talking to his mom I might worry that I'll say something that might b offensive or something

Watching you trying to figure out your age. I am 53 and you are me, 😆. You are talking about social norms and I thought for sure you were gonna day you don't give a shit. I've been accused of not understanding the rules, but really, it's that I don't care about them. Who gets to set those rules anyway? But yeah, respect, I too automatically respect people and like them until they give me reason otherwise. The elderly and the 5 year old to me are both equally to be respected.

It also appears differently in women of color. I think this has a lot to do with cultural upbringing.

Autistic people aren’t abnormal, and autism isn’t always easy to notice lots of the traits can be well hidden and not obvious so as much as I don’t seem autistic sometimes I 100% am my traits are just different.
