Autism signs and hearing loss in toddlers can present in a similar way. We thought it was autism. Here is our story.
Suyi had mild hearing loss from glue ear and many of the signs of hearing loss overlapped with autism.

Oh my God! This is exactly what we're experiencing about my son....everything u mentioned..... hearing this makes me feel more relaxed and less worried because, i ve been depressed since he turned 18 months and isn't saying anything or responding to his name. I ve a child living with cerebral palsy already and i do not want to imagine negativity. May God restore my sons speech and coordination and strengthen my heart in Jesus name amen.

There is permanent herbs to improve autism. It’s a medicine you can get from Dr Oyalo, his herbs have made my son improve perfectly in his speech and social skills. He is now verbal, responding to name and instructions

Thank you so much for this video. I'm currently experiencing this with my 18 month old boy, we noticed immediately after his first birthday that he wasn't responding to his name consistently. By 18 months ,he was saying some few no(s) and shakes his head to implicate that. Since then, we have seen his paediatrician twice who ruled out hearing problem advised us to keep watching him and keep talking to him and calling him more often. There is little or no improvement in him answering his name, he doesn't obey / understand simple instructions like sit, come etc, but he has more words in his vocabulary and communicate more using gestures, taking us to what he wants, for example if he wants water he will bring his cup to me instead of saying water. Its being a long journey for us.... this video is so encouraging, we will not give up......

Suyi gradually learnt his name. we showed him pictures of himself and also his reflection in a mirror and we would say “that’s Suyi” and at some point it clicked. Thank you 🙏🏻 so much for this video. It helped me so so much. Our surgery for ear tubes is next weak .. and I hopeful this helps our child’s symptoms. We do suspect autism as well but found she has poor hearing ..

Gave so much hope to watch this video, last month we took our 18 months precious little daughter to pediatrician and he said she may be autistic based on some observations like not responding to her name, poor eye contact and not talking yet. Our hearts are 💔. We are trying to get appointments with speech and occupational therapists but they are all booked, so we are waiting patiently. During this time of desperate waiting and so much ache in our hearts, I came across with this video and it gave me hope, I am going to take my daughter to ENT for her ears checked. How good it is if the results comes out like because of middle ear fluid her development delayed and not actually autism 😭. God will turn around the things and he is still in control. Praying for all heart broken parents out there for a miracle in their children’s lives 🙏🙏🙏 God bless you and your son

While watching this, I felt so sad because my son does everything you've described. But seeing your son at the end, talking and pointing, and even looking right at the camera while displaying so much understanding just reminds me how good God really is! I'm still trying to understand my emotions about the possibility that my son could be Autistic. I've been crying mostly, but I refuse to let my mind become worn down by this. He has been in an early intervention program for almost 6 months now and I take his learning and development so seriously! 💕 Let me just say that God is a good God every single time! I am so happy to see that your boy is progressing and I'm happy for the growth that my son WILL gain, in Jesus Name! Amen! 💕💕💕💕💕 Thank you so much for this video. I completely understand how you feel in this moment. I have been where you are and what I’ll tell you right now is what I wish I told myself. Take it all one step at a time. Focus on the things you can control and let go of the things you can’t (your child’s diagnosis)… when you feel the anxiety creep in… take a few deep breaths and accept your fears are valid and choose to focus on what you can control. I'm currently at this point. My little boy is 2.5, we have no words and very similar to what you describe in the vid. We are waiting for a follow up hearing test and ENT. It's a waiting game for grommets... Can really identify with this video, thanks so much for sharing.

I just finished crying and bumped on this video....isn't God wonderful???? My daughter is 2years 8months knows her shapes,colours alphabets, colours objects etc but finds it difficult communicating. We have seen an ENT who referred us for a paediatric audiometry and we started the test today to continue tomorrow. She also started showing some autistic symptoms more like she regressed from what she does. I'm hopeful we will come out victorious like Suyi. Thank you so much for this reassuring video💕💕💕

Such a good video!!! Does he used gestures to communicate before ear tubes? Because my toddler not using gestures, not responding to his name ... but i think he can hear music beats, tunes or smth... because he does react to music. Is he ok now ? Bless ❤️❤️❤️❤️

When he was much younger he used to point and wave but then he stopped doing that. He only lead me by hand to what he needed. Yes my son was the same and he also could hear music and he could hum along to it. After the ear tubes, every issue we had pretty much reversed after speech therapy. Thanks for sharing this - really helpful because I still don’t know if my child has autism as he doesn’t show classic autism signs but has GDD so is delayed with speech and socialising. My child at over 2 years couldn’t concentrate in the test so it was inconclusive. He’s now 3 so hoping he will sit through it. I find it hard getting a diagnosis for hearing loss when child is so young.How did the ear test go for you?

Hi Mia, apologies for the delayed response. We have a video regarding the ear tubes that answers all the questions regarding it. The ear test showed he wasn’t hearing properly in his right ear and this was when we were scheduled to see the ENT. Is it possible the let you see an ENT surgeon without the test. He was eventually the one who had the final say.

Hey! That was a sensory issue which is common in kids with and without autism … he mentioned it could be a balance issue might have contributed due to the fluid in his ears but also it could have just been developmentally normal. Hope this answer helps

@@TheAmadasuns my toddler going through same phase as suyi. But he hasn't have had ear infections any time. ENT who checked his ears said there is no wax buildup or infections last month. Did suyi go through BER and OAE tests to detect fluid in middle ears ?

@@jamesanton1568 So he didn’t line up toys but he is still kind of a perfectionist… he would throw big tantrums when things weren’t left a certain way.. but as he got older (more verbal) the tantrums were much less … he would communicate his frustrations as opposed a full blown tantrum.

@@jamesanton1568 yes James… we saw an audiologist before the ENT but not sure if the specific test that was done … they confirmed one ear wasn’t functioning as well as the other and then we were referred to an ENT… let me know if you have any other questions

Finally I carried my lazy ass over here. My son can not say mum or dad and is losing acquired skills at 23months. He babbles a lot and is cries where he shld talk making his tantrums worse.i hope to find one or two tings to help him improve

Hey Oge! 🤣🤣🤣Glad you were finally able to get to this.. I think you should definitely get his hearing checked before anything else as in our sons case most of these signs were cause by hearing issues. That being said regardless of the tubes put in his ear he still showed signs ... did you watch our video of how we taught him to talk. Those were the steps the speech therapist showed us that we practiced at home and he improved beyond expectations. Let us know if you have any other questions ❤️

You have described my daugther here, everything was the same other than she also lost her speech. I am convinced it's her ears, and not autism, because her behaviour fluctuate by the day. Some days she interested in everything other days not so much. Some days she'll say words, other days not. When she didn't have a cold, she started pointing and waving again. We have ENT appt next week and I'm leaving it all in Jesus's hands.

our son selectively can hear his favorite cartoon even if you hide it in a closet shile its playing on phone, but he def does not respond to his own name ...did your child watch cartoons when he couldn't hear?
