It would explain why he had such a bizarre relationship with his momma. A huge part of my personal ASD diagnosis story was setting boundaries with my admittedly too supportive mother. As lonely as it can be being an autistic dude, the countless stories I hear about women on the spectrum who just wanna sit around and hold their proverbial snake, yet can't because they're surrounded by overbearing men who won't give them the space they deserve is appalling. And that's just on the tippy-top of the iceberg that is the colossal amount of horrible instances where autistic women have flat out been taken advantage of. From the sounds of it, you've found a better place and are at peace while you're able to learn more about your diagnosis and how your mind works. I hope you and your snake are happy.
