I don't like ASMR typically but this was wonderful. My God, I had no clue sounds could be so pleasing. Instantly brought back to being 5, in my basement, playing in rice in my sandbox. Would do that alone for as long as you'd let me stay there. Please do more of these. Sand? Polished stones? Even D&D dice can make great sounds. Water or gel of some sort might also make fun sounds. I've always wanted to hear what slime in a balloon squishing would sound like.

I had an unusual way of stimming. I twiddled the content of a pillow, bolster or cushion when I was a kid. I think I sort of grew out of it, although there are private times, when I find myself twiddling the content of a cushion or pillow. Cotton was the content of my choice, and one that has seeds and stems still in the fillings were the most satisfying. 😁

That was awesome!! I'm really into the ASMR stuff. I layer the stimuli. Two screens with visual: Mandelbrot is just fantastic and pictures from the James Webb Telescope. The rice was great! added to fans, then either Pink Floyd's Echoes or someone whispering in French. Controlling each layer's sound with sound mixer. I also have a mat of fabric swatches in front of me. Stim Overload... The above getting to the point of: The rice was awesome!!🐺

I understand what i should be doing. As someone on the spectrum that really dislikes rice and the feeling of it. it puts me very much off. (sand would have the same effect on me) I know I love putting my hands in a toad filled with lego and not building just stirring around and scooping. Its simulair yet senory friendly for me. Well at least untill the sound gets me to much and i have to stop or put ear defenders on. I like the idea of such vids, at the same time im not sure if 8 minutes would be ok for me. For ASMR maybe... but just to get across what it is and how it can played with 3 min tops i guess? but thats just me. i can skip or play at faster speed so... don't know if there was any sound other than the rice (i had it on mute to not get itchy sorry) if there was i guess i would preffer it without any other sounds than just the regalur thing you are doing. extra sounds would have made it very distracting for me if it was something i liked.

We will try and get the kids more involved in videos like these if they become popular. The trick is to get them to be calm and quiet while recording. I think Connor could do it. I don't know if the other boys would. It may be interesting seeing the boys react to it though.

Hi, I’m mostly sensory avoidant and auditory ASMR isn’t for me at all. I made it 30 sec in the video before my whole body starts twitching 😅 I think ASMR exacerbates my misophonia 😅 I love visual ASMR, though. I do think this is a great idea for videos! (Despite me not being able to watch it)

(warning, a VERY long post......for a reason) The importance that your family keep posting is paramount. Sadly, it seems everyone that gets a diagnosis of Autism or ADHD feels a need to immediately start making videos with their “Expert Advice and Facts.” Totally lost is the concept and reality that every Autistic is unique. So right off, it makes most of the posters of such material very “self-serving” and basically “Full of it.” It is one thing to post on social media “things that has worked for you”, it another thing totally to be spouting off one’s “Expert Advice” as if all Autistics are a stereotype or “this works for me and will work for you!”. Your family has always been an island of sanity where “reality” is the only subject matter. Your family and I have an interesting connection. By you producing video content that shows how your families Autism issues change and evolve, there is a very positive consequence. It is my presumptions that one of the multitude of questions parents face when their child is diagnosed with Autism is ; “What will the future be like for my child and for the family?” Your family diary type content can give hope that though there will be challenges, but not all will be dark. Although I do not have children and must be an “observer” of families such as yours, I can make a similar contribution. I am sure you are wondering what will life be like for you Sons and will they have a fulfilling life as they become adults. “Does Autism change over time?” “Will life get better or more challenging?” (I have communicated the following to you in the past) I am 72 y/o and am Autistic with comorbidity of ADHD and Sensory Processing Disorder. I am one of several “study subjects” being studied by a some colleges and universities. The study is a long term study as to how ASD (Autism) affects aging as we get into our Senior years, and on the flipside, how aging may affect Autism. With your family sharing your experiences as your Sons grow, others may be comforted that there may better times ahead. Likewise, as the studies I am participating progress, others will find that things can be Okay. Autistic children do grow to be Autistic Teenagers, grow to be Autistic Adults, and grow to be Autistic Seniors. Together we can hopefully take some of the mystery, stigma, and fears of the unknown and help Autistic Families move forward with hope. So yes, with the extremely over-saturation on social media and flooding of “Autistics” telling everyone their “facts, diagnosis, and THIS IS THE ONLY ANSWER”, your family has a very important place where people can peak inside a functioning Autism Family….No BS, No “This is will work for everyone.” So please continue with the snapshots of your family facing all the good times and bad. There is an ever growing need to comfort and assure Autistic people and their families, “Autism is just a part of life.” “Autistics have opportunity, but we have to look forward with patience and optimism.”
