You surprised me at the begining, I hide behind my hair too ! And I'm lucky, I have a lot ! I don't have anything left from the 17 first years of my life. My mother and I had to flee from my father with nothing. Clutter bothers me, but I can't be organised, and things tend to grow wild around me. And sewing being my special interest/intense passion, I have fabrics almost in every room ! But my attention to details helps me a lot when I'm sewing ! I've been using scripts all my life. Every time I allowed myself to be spontaneous and genuine, everything went really wrong. I always thought difficulties with social interactions were my personal disaster, but when I found out I'm autistic, I understood it's "normal" for autistic people, and interactions with autistic people are much easier, with great understanding. And that's why I like you and your beautiful community so much ! 💗 I'm only a dog, cat and bird mom, and I admire autistic parents (and grand parents), I think I couldn't do that. Just like you, I can't mask when I'm in pain, and I have chronic spine pain... The landscapes you included in you video are absolutely beautiful and so peaceful ! I loved the colors of the sky and the clouds above the trees at the begining ! Take care and have some well deserved rest ! 💕

I am so sorry Cecile that you and your mom had to leave. I can't imagine what that is like. I hope things ended up better for you after that!💕Yes, I imagine your attention to detail would be an asset for your sewing. I think that is the case for my etsy shop and youtube channel. I think it's much easier to talk to autistic people too. It has been really nice. This has been a great community. So far, I've been lucky not to get any nasty remarks which I know will come from having a channel when it gets bigger. I'm sorry to hear about the spine issue. Is it degenerative disk disease? That's what I was told I had. But the chiropractic care has helped a lot. I'm glad you like the landscapes. I am just in awe of God's beautiful creation everyday!

@@autisticjenny Thank you for your kindness ! Yes, everything got much better after we left, even if it was complicated because it was a complete change, but our family has been very supportive. It was long ago, now, and we know it saved our lives, we don't regret anything ! And yes, it's a degenerative disk disease. I have it since I was a child, but it get much worse because of a job I had and I can't work anymore. But as long as I still can sew, it will be fine ! Maybe you won't have nasty remarks, it happens to some channels. Sometimes, human nature can give us a nice surprise ! 💕

@@cecile-p That is great to hear everything turned out better after you left. I was diagnosed with DDD like 20 years ago...I used to have to go to pain management and the whole works. My back has been good for the last 5 years. I don't know what I'm doing that helps other than the Tumeric I take everyday which has Pepperine which helps it absorb. When I don't take it, I hurt. I know you are glad to be able to do your hobbies still! :) That is awesome...😃

@@autisticjenny Very busy day, my brother came today. It's a happy day, but I didn't have time to watch RU-vid... I take very strong pain killers all the time, I have titanium screwed on my spine (I've been called Terminator because of that). Some days are better than others. I noticed anxiety causes more pain, I don't know why, maybe muscle tension. I don't know the Tumeric, maybe the name is different in France. I hope your back keep doing good ! It's annoying to have to deal with pain (and pain killers) all the time. But it could be worse ! Have a very nice week-end ! Tomorrow is Mother's day in France, so happy Mother's day again !

Together with my sister, we decided to become minimalists a few years ago. It took us 4 years to clear about 70% of the house and stuff collected over 30 years. It was really tough at times, and it is quite a lot of work (especially deciding what goes where - thrift store? 2nd store? sell online? - exhausting and stressful) Our rule these days is; if you want to buy something new, you have throw something old out. That rule has helped us save quite a lot of money too.

I love that! I want to be something between a hoarder and a minimalist. LOL I really am motivated though to get rid of way more stuff than I used to be. I just mainly don't have the time working full time, doing my etsy shop and youtube. Let me rephrase that....I should try to make more time. I can definitely do 15 minutes a day. Maybe I should open the book I bought. LOL :)

I used to have a script in the form of postcards for many situations eg saying hello to a stranger; saying hello to a work colleague you come across in a shop etc my response followed by expected reply followed by my follow up sentence followed by 'interesting fact' eg of course it is sunny in Spain all the year (I know this is not accurate and I would be ready with some details on the Iberian climate from memory) I would openly take out the postcard and read the first line to the person who had said hello to me. Yes it was strange that I needed to do it. I even had a postcard for being at a party but I would always leave early as I could not engage with most people at all they seemed to be speaking a foreign language.

Postcards are a nice idea ! I used to have a little notebook in my pocket with scripts for interactions for when I was feeling "stuck", postcards are beautiful and probably make things nicer !

NT people don’t speak logically, just emotionally. That’s the difference. They can be challenging to talk to. I have a brother who speaks in metaphors that he makes up. NTs generally understand what he means, given the context, but it’s a real challenge sometimes.

You can swish with coconut oil for up to 15 minutes every day instead of brushing to clean your teeth, heal your gums and cavities. With little kids, I really needed to have help from people to watch them so I could have alone time. At one point I got out and learned to run. Alone time in the bathtub. Hobbies like knitting and reading for escape. The toys and messes are really hard for me and I still have a hard time knowing what to do with things and getting rid of them.

Hey Amber...thanks for sharing on the coconut oil. I didn't know that! That's awesome....I like to buy mine from the Dollar Tree. It's probably not the same quality though. I'm lucky enough that my job requires me to have great attention to detail! About parenting as an autistic person, the sensory aspect can be really difficult. For me it is the screaming, noises and touching.

Noises in Spain are from another level. I remember the first year I spent there, I was getting scared every time somebody talked to me ! Spanish people speak very loud. But they are very friendly !
@alejandro-314
@alejandro-314 Год назад
@@cecile-p that's so true. In my first months living in Spain, I was confused all the time: why are they speaking so loud? Are they angry? But then I learn that's the way it is in here. One thing that really upsets me still, is that people blow their nose as loud as they can at work. It just ruins my concentration.
@cecile-p
@cecile-p Год назад
@@alejandro-314 I can understand that ! What I was very upset about was fireworks in the middle of the day, there's nothing to see because of daylight, and it's so loud ! I assumed they just like to make noise, but I was too shy to ask if there was another reason. I didn't want to be disrespectful of a different culture, but I'll always be curious about that ! If you know why they do that, I'll be happy to finally understand !

Had an interesting thing happen, this week, Jenny. At my hubby’s docs appointment, I mentioned being autistic…he looked at me and said, “you are NOT autistic! Maybe have Asperger’s, but NOT autistic”….he has a child in his family with autism and declared they are not the same….😮

That doctor is out of date. Asperger's is now Autism Spectrum Disorder. So you are autistic if you used to be called Asperger's. Obviously he is behind the times.

I had a similar experience the first time I talked to my parents about my suspicions of being autistic. I was saying to them that it can't be a coincidence that my only long life friend was diagnosed as autistic + ADHD some years ago but my parents never believed he was autistic because he is an extrovert and can be perceived as social. I tried to educate them, but not sure if it worked. At least they agreed to be part of my diagnosis process.

If I have a place for everything to go I'm fine and I keep things tidy. But if there's something that doesn't have it's specific spot, then I need to create a spot for it. And if I don't create a spot, then everything will clutter up until I sort that out, even though these other things have their own places. In the past I've been stuck on things for years. But I generally don't see the clutter so it won't bother me until such a time when I need something within that clutter. Then I'll start tidying up, find that thing that didn't have a home, create one for it, and then move on. Every single time this happens. I try to tell people that I'm a tidy person, but my surrounding often don't paint that picture because I'm stuck on something.

Hi Jenny. My aunt told me a general rule: If you haven’t used it in the last 3 months, throw it out. It’s difficult, especially with things which have sentimental value. I would suggest maybe taking photos of them so you can look back if you need to. Or donate them to a thrift store so you know that other people might get some use out of them.
